Exterior wooden window shutters
Exterior wooden shutters add charm and beauty to your home.
Whether mounted inside window frames or anchored to the masonry, they bring a distinctive style and character.
Architecturally, it is possible to match the historical style of the turn of the nineteenth/twentieth century buildings or
an Italian style villa.
Window shutters' charm looks great when combined with a brick nogged timber wall in old tenements, manor houses
and palaces. Besides aesthetical and visual aspects, window shutters provide user-friendly improvements to buildings.
Shutters protect the inside of your home from the harsh rays of the sun, wind, rain or snow. On sunny days, closed
louvered shutters provide subdued, indirect lighting that sets a mood in a room.

From the constructional point of view, window shutters are characterised by many technical solutions allowing a seamless integration with the current state-of-art-design and construction techniques. There is available hardware permitting
the anchorage of window shutters to the wall, window frames or wooden trims. Some functional elements can be electrically motorized for ease and comfort of operation.
Some of the unique functionality of window
shutters includes:
• hinges with stepped or stepless control in horizontal plane
• hinges permitting the anchorage of window shutters to the wall,
window frames or wooden trims
• shutter tie-backs to keep shutters in their open position
and firmly against the house
• shutter holdbacks to keep shutters upright
• shutter stops protecting wooden elements of window shutters
• special burglarproof bars
• sheet metal corner braces to reinforce corners of window shutters
• custom tailored functional locks.

Functionality & Security
If damage from intruders is a concern, exterior shutters may also satisfy this function,
if provided with well-proven hardware and suitable materials.
In terms of the installation, the prerequisite is that the shutters should be installed in
recesses, provided with massive bar locks with locking hooks and through - screws
for enhanced security. Intruders won't find your home an "easy mark" if they have
to take a lot of time breaking in, or if they can't break in without making a lot of
noise. In fact, using heavy-duty ROTO Fentro hardware designed to provide
enhanced security makes the construction reliable and hard to break in any way. The
bar lock cannot be opened from outside without damaging the shutter. Thanks to
the use of special through-screws, shutter hinges cannot be unscrewed from outside.
When shutters are closed, the hinges cannot be removed.
