“The In Between Times”
What a joy filled Easter! Over 2,300 persons worshipped in our five services. The youth led Easter sunrise
service began the day with our largest gathering ever!
This time of year is filled with events of joy and reflection. Mother’s Day, commencements, high schoolers
leaving home, college students “boomeranging” back, the end of the school year, vacation plans, summer
camps, sports camps, family reunions, mission trips, weddings, Vacation Bible School, Shoes For Kids — all life
changing events.
Events to event to event! I often pause during the “in between times” to reflect, make connections with past memories
and future hopes, and ultimately thank God for God’s sustaining presence of joy and grace. The events are wonderful
indeed. Take a pause with me during the “in between times” and most likely you’ll sense God taking a pause with you.
See you Sunday!

FIRST UMC of Rockwall Endowments
Did you know that your church has multiple endowments currently in place that fund the missions and ministries of the
church? Our current Endowments and uses are listed below:
Celia Hayes Endowment - Established by a bequest from Celia Hayes, this endowment provides income to the general
fund as well as growing the endowment itself. The interest income is split each year between the general fund and the
principal of the endowment. The endowment grows each year as well as adding to the general fund.
Phelps Endowment – Established by the Phelps family to provide funds to the youth department. Interest income each
year is given to the youth for capital needs.
Rhoades Endowment – Established by the Rhoades bequest to provide for capital emergencies for trustees expenses. The
fund has grown additionally by donations from the National Charity League of Rockwall and the Girl Scouts of America in
thanksgiving for being able to use church facilities.
Squires Endowment – Established by a bequest from the Henry Squires estate to provide future funding for the music
department. Every other year the interest income is given to the music department for purposes of their choice. In the odd
years, the interest income is added to the principal to grow the endowment.
Frazier Endowment – Established by the Frazier bequest to provide scholarship funds for youth graduating seniors.
Interest income is used annually this purpose.
The established endowments were made possible by the forethought of families to pass on the ability to fund areas of the
church that are dear to them. If you are interested in more information about the church’s endowments please contact Greg
Humphries at 972-771-5500 or Matthew Taylor, Chairperson of Trustees.

Here we go again….it’s time to get together and get organized for this year’s Shoes for Kids. If you feel called to be a part of the
leadership team, contact Amy Conner at [email protected] ! If you missed our Organization Meeting on Monday,
May 12th, go online to the church website, www.fumcrockwall.com/shoesforkids, and sign up to help in numerous ways. Our
goal is to raise $8,000 through our church as we prepare for over 1,400 children in need in Rockwall County. The Blue Cross/
Blue Shield Immunization Clinic will be on site again. Haircuts will be offered and vouchers for free haircuts at local shops!
Let’s get the kids started off right in the new school year!

Every $1.00 bill dropped into the offering plate is automatically designated for the Mission Committee’s work throughout the
