Big Facility Improvements for
Manheim, Pennsylvania, operating location
manheim’s largest reconditioning shop
With 33 selling lanes offering an average of
14,000 vehicles every other week, the Manheim,
Pennsylvania, location is Manheim’s largest
operating facility. In 2006, this location began
construction of Manheim’s largest reconditioning
operations, which will open in 2007– a twostory, 200,000-square-foot structure that houses
detail, paint and body and mechanical shops,
five break rooms, offices and training rooms.
“We’ll have our reconditioning operations all on
one site,” said Bryan Allison, the location’s recon
manager. “We’ll be able to run a much more
efficient operation and give our customers a
higher level of quality service.”
Most Advanced Wastewater Treatment
Facility Drives Detail Shop
In 2006, the Manheim, Pennsylvania, location
also started implementing plans for Manheim’s
most advanced wastewater treatment system,
scheduled to come online in the near future. The
system, which can produce 42,000 gallons of
reusable water per day, was designed to drive
the operating location’s new detail shop, which
has a 750-vehicle capacity per eight-hour shift.
“Water is continuously recycled, so we are able
to reduce our well water demand by 60 percent,”
said Charles McClung, Manheim’s engineering
director. “That means the detail shop also
reduces the water going to the city treatment
plant by 60 percent.”
