Doris Kath Chan
Designer Profile
’s Creative Director Doris Kath Chan is a talented
fashion designer who holds the degree of BA (Hons) Fashion
Design Womenswear from Central Saint Martin College of Art
and Design in London. With her innovative fashion sense and
rich experience in the fashion industry with Richard James,
has reached a prestigious level in the Hong Kong
fashion industry. In 2014,
has become a member
of the Business Network International (BNI) member. In the
future,
for every lady.
will continue to create the perfect dress
More about Doris Kath Chan
How did you start DORISKATH?
I love drawing since I was young. Seeing all
the beautiful dresses my mother chose for
occasions, I truly admired her fashion sense
and longed for my own cocktail dresses. I
started designing dresses for my mother
and friends when I studied fashion design
in university. I realised that I could read
their minds and create their dream dresses.
After my graduation, I wanted to pursue my
career in fashion design and create the dream
dresses for others.
What is the concept of your brand?
“I don’t design what you want, I make what
you dream”. For my design, I want everyone’s
dream dress is attainable and practical. Many
may think that occasion wear stays aside in
the wardrobe except the special events. I
would like to change this perception. Most
of my dresses can be carried in two or more
different styles that fit daywear as well
as occasion wear purposes. I feel excited
when knowing my customers and friends
truly enjoy my designs and appreciate the
variability of my dresses.
What are your inspirations? How do you
develop your design concepts?
My inspiration in creating fashion comes
from my loved ones, including my mother,
relatives and friends. I start designing each
dress with thorough understanding of what
they desire and how they plan to use the
dresses. I will then amalgamate both their
ideal elements and practical designs into their
dream dresses.
Can you introduce your stockists and the
typical fans of your brand?
I would like to have a better control of my
unique and customised dresses, hence my
showroom is located adjacent to my office.
This allows me to receive genuine feedback
from customers and create better designs.
My typical followers are usually brides-to-be
and ladies attending functions. They have
a high standard of beauty and elegance.
They also have a good fashion sense with
extremely creative thoughts! We shared and
exchanged to make the best pieces.
Which designer has the most impact on
your designs, and why?
Antoni Gaudí, a famous architect. His
use of lines and shapes always made his
designs mesmerising. The application of
circles and ovals makes his square platform
designs extraordinary, it is also what I want
to achieve.
D o yo u h ave a ny life m o t to s o r
aspirations?
“With great power comes with great
responsibility.”
As a fashion designer, the higher the
expectation, the higher the motivation to
drive me to design a perfect dream dress.
Besides the beloved ones of Doris,
reading is another source of inspiration.
Why do you choose Copenhagen to
present your collection?
Copenhagen is an international platform to
showcase my designs to the world. It also
represents a place for intellectual fashion
exchange.
I really enjoyed my experience at Copenhagen
Fashion Week last year. I was really excited
for successfully communicating the concept
of dream with the “one dress fits all”
concept. The event is an occasion for me
to exchange ideas and trends with different
design talents from the Nordic Region.
What is your future direction?
What is the must-have item in your wardrobe?
I will continue to design the dream dress for
every lady.
A dress suitable for all occasions, whether they
are formal or casual.
How do you view the minimalistic
fashion designs in the Nordic Region?
What is your most treasured possession?
I think minimalism is superb and brilliant.
This design direction will become the
leading global fashion trend, for many of
us are looking for originality and simplicity
in fashion.
My most treasured possession is the support
from my loved ones, especially my family and
friends.
A good day is…?
A day well-spent
with family.

Designer Profile
Designer LEUNG Ka Kin, Kenax, whose passion towards
fashion design sparked during his junior secondary school
years, managed to achieve his dream of pursuing a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Fashion Design through obtaining his
foundation years at the School of Continuing and Professional
Studies (CUSCS). Upon completion of his BA Program, he
further completed a Master of Arts Degree at the Hong Kong
Polytechnic University (PolyU) in July 2012. Another leap
forward for Kenax was becoming the winner of Hong Kong
Young Fashion Designers’ Contest 2012 organised by Hong
Kong Trade Development Council, creating awareness and
excellent media coverage of the winning collection among
the local and Asian media.
More about Kenax Leung
How did you start KENAXLEUNG?
What is the concept of your brand?
My passion towards fashion design sparked
during my junior secondary school years.
I always believe that fashion is a dynamic
form of art, closely linked to the market
and our daily life. I achieved my dream
by pursuing a Bachelor Degree in fashion
design and completing a Master of Arts
Degree. I was the Champion of the Casual
and Jeans Wear Group in the Hong Kong
Young Fashion Designers’ Contest in 2012.
This recognition further affirmed my passion
in fashion design. I thus decided to develop
my fashion business with my own brand after
graduation from University.
Street trad - to integrate traditional elements
into street style with youth culture. To
me, youth culture represents their guts to
attempt, to experiment and to express.
What are your inspirations? How do you
develop your design concepts?
My inspiration is art. My design concepts
usually start with the visuals of an artist
identified for the season, he / she can
be a mix media artist doing different
forms of arts – not limited to graffiti, wall
paintings, architecture, craftsmanship and
art installations. All my pieces can be seen
as wearable arts.
Can you introduce your stockists and the
typical fans of your brand?
We currently stock in selected stores in
Hong Kong, Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
Our online shop will also start to take
international orders soon. Most of our
stockists are lifestyle and fashion boutiques
serving fashion-forward and unique clients.
Our fans are the fashion lovers who are
fascinated of colours and mix-and-match
style.
What kinds of idea and culture have the
most impact on your designs, and why?
All kinds of youth cultures. I incorporate this
spirit in my fashion design so that wearers
can express the pursuance of adventures and
possibilities.
Do you have any life mottos or aspirations?
“Dress to express, not to impress.”
Why do you choose Copenhagen to
present your collection?
I love Europe. Among the cities, I particularly
love Copenhagen as a centre of cultural art.
We can find all sorts of arts everywhere in
the city – wall painting, architecture, etc.
It is the best place for me to showcase my
collection as my designs are intertwined with
culture and arts.
PANTONE 178U
PANTONE 178U

collection
What are is your future direction?
I will insist on the good qualit y and
uniqueness of my apparels, but at the same
time enrich my brand portfolio by covering a
wider array of fashion accessories products.
KENAXLEUNG will offer comprehensive
choices to fashion lovers so that they can
express themselves in their own ways.
How do you view the minimalistic
fashion designs in the Nordic Region?
Clean but modern; Classic yet experimental.
My favourite Danish fashion designers are
experimental – combining different colours
and cuttings on the outfits to create the
unique styles.
What are the must-have items in your
wardrobe?
Colourful socks and sweat shirt. I always
think that special socks are the must-have
items when talking about fashion. A pair
of colourful socks can brighten up the total
look. I have no special reason for naming
sweat shirt. I love it, as simple as that.
What is your most treasured possession?
My childishness, dream and hope. These will
be with me forever and allow me to be more
creative, imaginative and open to boundless
possibilities.
A good day is…?
Starting with a bottle
of classes chocolate
milk.
Inspired by flipping down his namesake label
“kenaxleung” by accident, Kenax created the mirror-like
logo with trademark design (in lower case) carrying an
important and meaningful philosophy behind - paying
attention to every detail on garment from inside out.
Featuring unique printings, the use of textiles and
new shapes in its designs, “KENAXLEUNG” is creating
something different with the unique approach of “To
design a collection with experimentation”. The core
series of “KENAXLEUNG” are welcomed and popular
among major local lifestyle and fashion media, stylists

It is the first time for me to visit this beautiful
city. I had been longing for the experience

of the most livable cities in the world. I am
impressed with the lifestyle in this city and
the same harmony can be found in the
brand LU LU CHEUNG. I regard Copenhagen
Fashion Week AW16 as a platform for
introducing our showpieces suitable for
the locals. I also see this as an opportunity
which allows me to interact with the fellows
from the fashion-forward community and
experience the ideal lifestyle during my stay.
