ASA General Meeting June 28, 2016
Arlon called the meeting to order at 6:50pm.
Attending: Arlon Gilliland,
Ruth Hugeback, Jeanne Kroeger, Jerrilyn wolley,
John Cheek, Bill Carey, Rachel Anderson, Steve
Rutherford, Vonelle Swanson and Leoda Barr.
Member Updates:
Vi Holland's paintings were put on the table for
members to purchase. She is still ailing. Ken is fine
but obviously pre-occupied. The purchase of Vi's
artwork is by donation.
Barbara Chiementi is still in Albany after her stroke.
She hopes to move back to the coast, but that is still
in the works.
Tim Powers is still not doing well he has terminal
pancreatic cancer.
Spring Show: Thanks to members who participated in the Spring Show. Show went
well, jurors did a fine job, good critiques. Thank you to the jurors. Ruth published the
results. People's favorite - tie- Pam Parker, Sharon Cook and Heather Haugland.
Connie Hansen Garden - Plein Air painting went well despite the heavy rains early in
the morning. Ruth Hugeback, Sharon Cook, Arlon Gilliland and Kathy Cope - Thank
you!!
Rehanging went well. Sharon worked with the group and is willing to take on more
responsibility in the rehang. Bill will be leaving the board, but still a supporting member,
so Sharon's participation is appreciated (she is also a member elect to the Board).
Summer Classes:
Going well for the children's classes.
Fall Classes: Ruth is working on the class proposal forms so they look like the
announcements on the website. She would like the instructors to provide information for
their proposed classes by August 1st.
Doors for the standards in front of the fireplace will be started next week by Tony
Hugeback - per previous Board Approval.
Sidewalk Sale - (Not garage sale) next Saturday July 2, 2016 beginning at 10am.
Flyers are already printed. News Guard, News Times, Oregon Coast Today, and
Facebook (suggested that this be considered for the future to increase participation).
Upcoming Events:
Opening event for Coop on July 8th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm (same night at the Cultural
Center opening).
Outside areas: Ruth contracted someone to clean up the walkways and other areas
with good results. The ASA is considering having the man hired to do additional clean
up landscaping. This will be discussed further in the future.
Displays - Still working on converting and building new shelving and display tables.
Other Business: Ruth called for kid related prizes for the chalk art competition. A small
donation from ASA was suggested and seconded - approved to send a $50 donation to
Nicki at the Cultural Center for this event.
