The Cabinet ordered the
following transfers and
postings in civil administration with immediate
effect.

and posted as Director General, J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development, relieving Muhammad
Ashraf Bukhari, IAS, of
the additional charge of the

Cabinet recommends Deva as PSC chairman
5 names recommended as
members of recruitment agency

Jammu, Mar 15: The State Cabinet which met here
Sunday approved six names to be recommended to
Governor NN Vohra for filling up the vacancies of chairman and members of Public Service Commission (PSC).
This was disclosed by State’s Education Minister and
spokesperson of the cabinet, Naeem Akther, at a news
conference here.
Akther said the cabinet has recommended appointment of Lateef-ul-Zaman Deva as chairman of the PSC.
Deva, an IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre,
has held key assignments including Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal
Corporation, Custodian General and Vice-Chairman of
Lakes and Waterways Development Authority, during
his service career.
Akther described Deva as man of “impeccable honesty and integrity.”
Deva , 58, was set to retire on December 31, 2016.
Akther said the cabinet has also approved names
of Prof. Rishi Dogra (academician), Prof Mushtaq Wani
(academician), Prof Indu Kilam (academician), GR
Baghat (ex-bureaucrat) and Munshi Muzaffar Hussain
(ex-bureaucrat) for their appointment as members of the
state’s selection body for gazeed posts.
Akther expressed hope that Governor NN Vohra will
give his assent to the cabinet’s recommendations.
“Our recommendations are slightly more mixed and
non-traditional and non-conventional,” he said.
During Governor’s Rule in J&K recently, the Governor
NN Vohra had come up with a framework for appointment
of PSC chairman and members.
Reyaz Jan is new Advocate
General
Jammu, Mar 15: The Cabinet which met here Sunday
under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mui
Muhammad Sayeed, approved appointment of
advocate Reyaz Ahmad Jan as the Advocate General
of Jammu & Kashmir, an official spokesman said.
Will act against corrupt

Jammu, Mar 15: Asserting that state administration
needs a faceli , the government Sunday said it will “not
resort to witch-hunting but act against corrupt officials
on basis of established charges against them.”
Addressing a news conference here, State’s Education Minister Naeem Akther said the government
will try to give a fresh look to the face of the state’s
administration.

In a first, Cabinet Okays transfers
recommended by CSB

Jammu, Mar 15: The newly-constituted Civil Services
Board (CSB) has, for the first time, recommended transfers of civil and police officers ordered by the State Cabinet Sunday, sources said.
Highly placed sources in General Administration
Department (GAD) said the cabinet, which met here
under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mui Muhammad Sayeed, discussed the recommendations made
by the CSB headed by Chief Secretary, Muhammad Iqbal
Khanday, before finalizing the transfers.

Drabu to brief Cabinet on
budget today
Jammu, Mar 15: The State Cabinet is set to meet here on
Monday to discuss the Budget for 2015-16 to be presented
by Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Darbu in the State Assembly.
Sources told Greater Kashmir that Drabu, who will be presenting his maiden Budget, will brief his cabinet colleagues
about the estimated expenditure and resources, on Monday.
However, according to sources, Drabu will not reveal new
programs or tax proposals in the Budget during the meeting.

Srinagar, Mar 15: Kashmir’s higher received fresh
snowfall while rains lashed
the plains on Sunday even
as the Srinagar-Jammu
highway was reopened for
one-way traffic.
Meteorological Department officials said upper
reaches, including Gulmarg, received fresh snowfall while plains, including
Srinagar, received rain.
“Snow and rains resulted in drop in maximum
temperature. The night
temperature continues to
remain above normal,”
they said.
“A Western Disturbance
(WD) is active that would
result in moderate to heavy
rain or snow at most places
in the state during next 24
hours,” MeT officials said,
adding, “Weather will
improve significantly from
Tuesday afternoon.”
MeT officials said Gulmarg reaches including
Kongdori, Affarwat, and
Khilanmarg received moderate to heavy snowfall.
“There has been snowfall
on Line of Control (LoC)
in frontier district of Kupwara,” they said.
Reports of fresh snowfall
were also received from
higher reaches of Bandipora district. “Mughal road
also experienced fresh
snowfall at several places,”
officials said, adding,
Pahalgam in south Kashmir received rains.

Opposition gears
up to corner Govt
To raise ‘delay’ in rehabilitation
of flood victims, ‘compromise’ on
state’s special status

Jammu, Mar 15: With
Budget Session set to commence on March 18, the
opposition National Conference and Congress has
decided to corner the government on several issues
including delay in rehabilitation of flood victims.
“J&K is full of issues
and we are not going to
shut our mouths in the
Assembly. We would definitely act as a responsible
opposition and raise issues
of public importance,”
NC’s General Secretary
A li Muhammad Sagar
told Greater Kashmir. He
said NC working president
Omar Abdullah will chair
a meeting of party legislators to “devise a strategy
on how to make the government accountable.”
“We want to know what
led PDP to enter into a com-
promise with BJP,” Sagar
said. “People still remember that PDP sought votes
against BJP. Then, what
caused them to ally with the
party that has a communal
agenda? We would surely
like to seek answers from
the government on this.”
The NC leader said they
would like the government
to disclose its policy on
rehabilitation of flood victims. “We believe this issue
is being given a political
color,” he said. “Nothing
positive is being done on
this front.”
He said NC would also
react strongly to Governor’s
address “but not before
studying it properly.”
“And then we would
react to the much-talkedabout Common Minimum
Program (CMP) of the present government as well,” he
said.
