Umar ibn ul-Khattab 
(the second caliph) cleared
up the Al-Aqsa Mosque area
with his own hands on his visit
to Jerusalem in the 7th Century.
He protected the churches and
rights of Christian minorities
under Islamic rule.
And We have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good)
to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and
hardship upon weakness and hardship, and his weaning
is in two years give thanks to Me and to your parents,
unto Me is the final destination. Quran 31:14

oldest mosques and it is
praised in the Quran. Prophet

Ibn Kathir (died 1373 CE),
the famous commentator
of the Quran, held an official
scholarly position at the
Umayyad Mosque in Syria in
the 14th Century. His teacher,
Ibn Taymiyyah also passed
away in Damascus.

science and commerce are
also taught.
Prophet Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬was asked, “Who amongst the people is
most deserving of my good treatment?” He said: Your mother,
again your mother, again your mother, then your father, then your

residents in Mali unite to
re-plaster the walls of their
mosque using river mud
with their own hands.

Allah is the one who is best to his companions, and the
best of neighbours to Allah is the one who is the best of

10,000 worshippers in the
main hall. It was financed and
supported by the late King
Faisal bin Abdul-Aziz of Saudi
Arabia in the 70s.
Sa’d bin Ubada  mentioned, “My mother passed away and
she had an unfulfilled vow.” Prophet Muhammad ‫ ﷺ‬replied,
“Fulfill it on her behalf.” Sahih al-Bukhari
