Dear Brother Knight, An urgent message from Supreme…..
Christians in the Middle East continue to suffer, and in order to help them further, we need to do our part in convincing the
U.S. Government to officially designate their persecution as genocide. Already many of our brother Knights have helped us
give generously to humanitarian relief for those affected, with more than $8 million dollars raised. These funds have provided
assistance in the form of food, clothing, shelter, general relief, education, religious instruction, medical care and much more.
Pope Francis has called what is happening to Christians in the Middle East “genocide.” The European Parliament has
done the same, as have prominent voices such as the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, and
Genocide Watch. This is not a partisan issue. Presidential candidates and elected leaders of both American political parties
have said Middle Eastern Christians are facing genocide. But despite the evidence that these individuals and institutions have
found compelling, the U.S. State Department has still not made such a designation. Experts indicate such a designation could
help those who are suffering so much by opening up for them certain legal protections and options that might otherwise be
unavailable.

Advocate -Acts as parliamentarian for the council -Should have a working knowledge of Robert’s Rules of
Order and Methods of Conducting a Council Meeting (#1937)
-When needed, will seek legal assistance from the state advocate
Warden -Responsible for supervising and maintaining all council property
-Sets up council chambers for meetings and degree exemplifications
-Oversees inside guards and outside guards
Inside/Outside Guards -Attend the doors of the council chamber, checking for current membership cards
and allowing entrance
Board of Trustees -Consists of grand knight and three other elected members
-Supervises all financial business of the council and conducts the semiannual audits
-Trustees are elected for terms of three years, two years and one year. At each regular election, the position
of each trustee will be voted upon, with the current three- and two-year trustees moving on to become the
two- and one-year trustees respectively

So far we have had a very good season. Bingo and the Fish Fry dinners have
been very busy. As I write this message to you, we are in the process of finishing up a week of a spaghetti dinner, bingo, fish fry, comedy night and our tootsie roll drive. Up and coming events are as follows:
March 5th ~ 33rd Prayer Breakfast at the Marriott;
March 5th ~ 3rd Degree in North Naples;
March 13th ~ Annual Golf Tournament at Eagle Creek;
March 14th ~ 2nd Annual Men’s Day of Reflection;
May 14th ~ 4th Degree in North Naples
Contact me with any ticket requests. Please support these and all of our
events coming up.
We have made our quota for membership but have not reached our goal for
new insurance members. Star council is within our reach but only if we can
sign up 4 insurance members. Contact me if you have any insurance questions.
Thank you for everyone who constantly show up and help out at all our events.
We would not be this successful as a council without your dedication and hard
work.
I want to announce our Knight and Family of the month to all for February since
we did not have a social for the month. Congratulations to Bob Brown as the
Knight of the Month and Steve and Darlene Vasco for Family of the Month.

Dear Sister Columbiettes:
Our Winter Wonderland Dance was a big success and a big
thank you to Barbara DeRosa and Joan Pidherny for putting the dance together and Bill Christ with his cooking team made up of
Knights. The entertainment and food was great. We are starting to plan next year’s dance now.
The Columbiettes helped out with the Spaghetti Dinner and the Tootsie Roll Drive on top of every Thursday Bingo and now Fish
Fry on every Friday. We have been very busy
this month.
On Saturday February 6, 14 Women went to Hollywood, Florida with four new Columbiettes who took their First Degree. We
had 10 who took their Major Degree. Congratulations to all our Columbiettes. Fun was had by
all.
As I write this we are planning our Treasures in the Trunk Sale. The phone calls have been numerous and we just hope for good
weather.

The Catholic Difference
Many companies claim that their founder was a saint.
As brother Knights, our claim is not simply hyperbole: We know that our beloved founder lived a virtuous and holy life. We hope and pray that he will be
raised to the dignity of the altar.
In fact, by proclaiming Father McGivney “venerable” in 2008, the Catholic
Church has declared that Father McGivney exercised Christian virtue above
and beyond the call of duty.
As members of his brotherhood, it is incumbent upon all brother Knights to act
in a way that pays homage to Father McGivney, carries on his mission and
works with the same virtuous spirit that animated his life. That duty applies to all
aspects of Columbians, whether it be our charitable work, our fraternal work or
our business endeavors.
Those two concepts — Catholic virtue and profitable business —may seem incompatible, but the Knights of Columbus has long been a shining example of
how businesses can succeed by placing faith and values before financial gain.
Our Catholic heritage permeates our business. It’s part of what makes us so
unique we call it our Catholic Difference.

SIR Knights:
January was a busy month .The assembly held our annul comedy night .We have over 200 people and a good time was had by all. We
are finishing the accounting and will advise you of the results at our next meeting.
We have been assisting the council with bingo fish fry’s and spaghetti dinners and all the other functions
Which are many during “season” .If you have not volunteered the council can always use additional people.
Congratulations to Sir Knight Ben Farnsworth who was presented with the spirt of Marco award.
Ben also had heart surgery and we wish him a fast recovery. Please remember both Lady Judy and Ben in your prays.
The St. Patrick day parade will be on March 6, at 1 o’clock .Hope you can join in the fun.
