High school sweethearts blend their love of skiing into

What began as a high school prom date culminated in a snowy winter wedding for Alexandra
and Linton Judycki. “We both grew up ski racing and attended the Green Mountain Valley School
in Waistfield, Vermont,” says Alexandra. “We got set up to go to junior prom together, but we didn’t
want to go because we didn’t know each other.” Alexandra and Linton didn’t hit things off until the
next year during a ski training camp in Austria. “I went to the University of Colorado, Boulder, and
Linton took over the family business of running Red River Ski Area in New Mexico.”

The wedding ceremony was

my favorite parts was planning what my dog was going to
do,” says Alexandra. The Irish
Wolfhound mix, Neva, walked
down the aisle with one of the
groomsmen and was involved
in many of the photos. “One of

American fare, Gorrono is known
for banquet-style meals that shine in
comparison to typical wedding fare.
“We do a lot of farm-to-table, using
what’s in season from a farm that’s 70

guests enjoy pistachio-crusted ruby
red trout with buerre rouge and roasted potatoes, as well as bacon-wrapped
dates in aged balsamic syrup.

The daughter of an architect, Patty
Denny has an eye for design. So,
what happens when you combine
years of experience in artful dessert creations with a devotion to
rich chocolate flavor? You get Telluride Truffle, the perfect marriage
of form and function. The triangular
truffles evoke the Rocky Mountain
skyline, while imported Belgian
chocolate, organic Colorado
whipping cream and a selection of
aromatic spices and liquors indulge
the palate. “The truffles are not
only shaped like mountains,” says
Denny. “They are named and decorated in mountain themes.” Couples
can place a truffle on each guest’s
plate as a reception treat or send
guests off with a delectable wedding memory. Denny’s expertise in
design offers perfection in a box.
“We do a lot of custom things,” she
says. “I can find the packaging that
works for the bride and matches
the wedding colors.”

Telluride weddings range from formal occasions to rustic retreats and everything
in between. The culinary offerings of this idyllic mountain town have grown to
meet the demand for world cuisine, modern plating and farm-to-table fare.
“We do a lot of farm-totable, using what’s in

Roth refers to Gorrono as a blank
canvas for wedding planners because
of its size and versatility. “It has full
amenities and 6,000 feet of deck space
outside,” he says. “The building for the
onsite bar has been there since the
1800s, and guests can walk out at night
for a whiskey or bourbon tasting.”
Allred’s Restaurant
Gorrono Ranch
Gorrono Ranch’s structure taps into the region’s history when Basque sheepherders roamed the countryside. A barn-style building, Gorrono can accommodate up
to 200 guests. “It’s a beautiful, open building with magnificent views,” says Stephen
Roth, executive director of culinary services for Telluride Ski and Golf. “You’re in
the middle of what’s a ski run in the winter, but in the summer, it’s meadows with
sweeping views. And Gorrono’s chef, Jared Campbell, is one of the most talented
chefs I’ve ever worked with.”
Campbell has cooked his way from Texas to Telluride, which influences his
sophisticated, heartfelt dishes. “I like to take old recipes and techniques and put

Roth suggests Allred’s Restaurant for
a food-focused wedding. Chef Mike
Regrut’s training and the spectacular

is insanely talented; it’s an intimate
fine dining experience.”

his wedding fare is focused on keeping the bride happy. “It’s such a special day so we
do everything we can to accommodate,” says Regrut. The basis for Regrut’s cuisine
is French, but the chef delights guests with unexpected American elements.
Visitors come to Allred’s modern, rustic setting directly from the gondola. “The
space is open with four massive elk chandeliers,” says Roth. “The timberwork came
from a reclaimed barn in Vermont. All of the stone came from the local quarry. And
there is a big, open show kitchen.”
Roth says that guests at Allred’s are often quite specific about their culinary
vision. This custom-style wedding suits the restaurant perfectly. “You often find

Pre- & Post-Wedding Drinks
Tomboy Tavern is a spacious
watering hole that hosts bachelorette parties and after-wedding
hoedowns. A selection of American, Asian and European flavors
give guests the perfect nosh to
accompany drinks. “Our greatest
signature cocktail is a housemade Bloody Mary,” says Roth.
“It has fresh tomato juice, beef
consommé, lots of spices, celery,
beef jerky and shrimp.” Other drink
options include a copper mug program and artisan gin, bourbon and
vodka by Peach Street Distillers.
The restaurant’s large U-shaped
bar and expansive patio make
mingling easy.

Accommodations often set the tone
of the wedding. Will it be stressful,
peaceful or action-packed? Can the
bride and groom truly enjoy time with
family and friends while prepping for
the big day? Two Telluride hotels offer
relaxing stays and magnificent views
with everything a couple needs to
relax and enjoy their nuptials.

At the base of Telluride Ski Mountain,
Hotel Columbia offers an intimate
setting for wedding festivities, with only
21 rooms. According to general manager,
Rachel Loomis-Lee, couples often
rent out the entire hotel for the wedding party. Loomis-Lee notes that the
breathtaking views from the hotel make
it a “prime location for photo opportunities.” Situated on the San Miguel River,
it’s just steps from the gondola.
Hotel Columbia’s European continental breakfast is a favorite ritual for
many Telluride brides and grooms.
Prepared at the onsite COSMOpolitan
restaurant, this meal includes madefrom-scratch pastries, soft-cooked eggs,
quiches, fresh fruit and other memorable dishes. “We try to use locally sourced,
organic ingredients as much as possible,” says Loomis-Lee. Wedding parties
often bond over breakfast together. “We
treat them like family,” she says.
“What makes us unique is our
amenities,” says Loomis-Lee. “Most of
the rooms have balconies, fireplaces
and kitchenettes. One of the rooms
includes a private hot tub and an
oversized deck, so the bride can invite
guests outside for wine and hors
d’oeuvres. We also have heated floors
in the bathrooms, as well as heated
towel racks.” Complimentary cruiser
bikes for all guests create romantic
moments and adorable bride and
groom photos.
The employees at Hotel Columbia
are happy to plan activities for guests.
“The biggest thing for us is that we
want to take care of all the details so
people can enjoy their time in Telluride and enjoy their families and
friends,” says Loomis-Lee. “We know
it’s a special day.”

Couples seeking an expansive luxury
residence will find the perfect fit at
the Fairmont Heritage Place, Franz
Klammer Lodge. Located in the
heart of Mountain Village, this hotel
sits next to the gondola. The Fairmont’s Evie Donegan says that the
hotel’s spaciousness and the beauty
of Telluride come together for an upscale, relaxing experience. “It’s right
in the center of everything,” says
Donegan. “Guests enjoy the lounge
and patio areas. It’s almost like
having a condo, but it has all of the
advantages of a hotel. And the beauty
of Telluride is that once you’re here,
you don’t even need a car. ”
This spot provides ideal accommodations for larger wedding parties. “We have very large residences,
each with a full kitchen and private
baths,” says Donegan. “We also
offer an outdoor heated pool and
adult-only hot tubs on patios with
beautiful mountain views.” Donegan

Weddings in Telluride involve
more than downtime. Many couples

pre-wedding fun. “Many people want

says Donegan. “We have a whole concierge team. We can book everything
from mountain biking to kayaking
with preferred rates.”
The hotel offers a blissful celebration from start to finish. “Fairmont is
renowned for having top-tier service,
and Telluride is such a beautiful
place to get married,” she says. “It’s
important for us to make it as stressfree as possible. You come here, and
we have everything ironed out. Our
priority is taking care of our guests.”

calming, exfoliating toners to remove dead skin cells. This period also marks the
last chance for facial waxes. “I never recommend that you get a waxing within a
week of the wedding.”
Achieving perfect skin can be difficult in any location, but because of intense
sunlight, dry air and reduced oxygen levels, high-altitude weddings require a little
extra maintenance. Alline Arguelles, of Alpenglow Beauty in Telluride, offers tips
that prepare Rocky Mountain brides to meet the challenge.
The Night Before
Arguelles advises that brides start a skin regimen six months in advance. “You need
to start having a regular facial and meeting with an aesthetician to find the right
products for you,” she says. “This is the best time to take care of yourself.” Arguelles
recommends developing a daily beauty routine that includes cleanser, toner, moisturizer and eye cream.
This is also the ideal time to work on perfectly shaped brows by letting them
grow out. “Let them get a little wild,” Arguelles says. “Then, at about three months
prior, start getting them professionally shaped.” Last but not least, Arguelles recommends that destination wedding brides should book hair and makeup six months
in advance, since there is often a very small pool of professionals available.
Two Weeks to 10 Days Before
Flawless skin requires more than beauty products. For Arguelles, staying hydrated
is key. “Now is the time to start drinking lots of water and trying to eliminate beverages other than water and fruit juices,” she says. “Eliminate drinks that can make
your skin puffy or hold salt.”
Since pre-wedding activities often include lots of time in the sun, brides should
opt for high-quality mineral sunscreens with SPF 50. Arguelles asks brides to use
Since the evening before the ceremony can affect a bride’s skin the next day,
Arguelles advises against high alcohol intake or late-night partying. Instead she
tells ladies to pack their best dark-circle-preventing eye cream, such as Dr. Brandt’s
Dark Circles Away Collagen Eye Serum, and a reliable overnight acne treatment;
Arguelles’s top pick is Mario Badescu Skin Care Drying Lotion.
The Big Day
On the wedding day, Arguelles focuses on hydrating products. “One is oxygen in
a can,” she says. “You actually spray it into your mouth. If you’re not used to living
at a high altitude, it makes your skin look more radiant, and you’ll feel calmer.”
She also suggests utilizing a hydrating mask on the morning of or night before
the wedding.
To round out the list, Arguelles suggests spring water, such as Eau Thermale
Avène Thermal Spring Water. “It’s another way to get skin hydrated and calm. It’s
great for refreshing the skin, and it will set your makeup,” says Arguelles. “Use it
throughout the day before and after makeup.”
