Reynolds inducted into Junior College Hall of Fame
Health and Kinesiology Assistant Professor Dr. Lacy Reynolds has
been inducted into to the Utica Junior College Hall of Fame. Reynolds
attended Utica Junior College from 1970 to 1972 and has been a
member of the Friends of the College since he graduated.
At Utica, he was an honor student, a member of Who’s Who in 1972
and played basketball. After graduating, he attended what was then
Mississippi Industrial College. He received a master’s degree in physical
education from Delta State University in 1975 and his doctorate in
education from Texas Southern University in 2007.

Year for the Journal of
Baccalaureate Social Work
(JBSW) at the 33rd annual
Conference of the Association
of Social Work Baccalaureate
Program Directors (BPD) in
Dallas.

Conference championships in 1988, 1990, 1994, and 1995 and made appearances in the NCAA

Students Lead KTSU-FM Open House
An excited team of students, alumni, employees and community
representatives all gathered for an Open House on Saturday at the
University’s Radio Station KTSU-FM, 90.9. The open house was a
meet and greet to welcome the recently hired general manager of
KTSU, Mr. Ernest Walker. Walker, who is well known in the city and
across the country has over 20 years of experience in the entertainment
industry and is a graduate of Houston’s Jack Yates High School. A
host of community leaders, colleagues and friends of Mr. Walker were
in attendance. A large group of TSU students, majoring in radio and
television and mass communication were on hand to greet the guest
and to lead tours of the station, the recording studios and news rooms.
To jump start KTSU’s membership campaign, individuals were
encouraged to sign up early to become members of the station. The
official membership campaign starts April 22 and runs through May 1,

Breakfast was provided by the Breakfast Klub, Marcus Davis, a
TSU Alumnus is President and Owner.

praised during annual convocation ceremony
As a TSU assistant basketball coach and instructor, his

instructor at LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis from 1977
to 1983. His teams were conference champions in 1978, 1979,
and 1980 and appeared in the National Association for
Intercollegiate Athletics tournaments in 1982 and 1983 and
played in the National Collegiate Athletic Association
Division III Tournament in 1982 and 1983.
Texas Southern University students who earned a GPA of 3.0 or above in the Spring
2015 and/or Fall 2015 semesters will receive special recognition at the university’s
annual Honors Day Convocation ceremony.
This university-wide ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, April 27 at 12:00 p.m. in
the Health and Physical Education Arena, will include high praise from the deans,
provost, and president. Students’ parents and family members will be on campus to join
in celebrating the academic accomplishments of their loved ones on this wonderful
occasion. A reception will follow the ceremony.
Honorees should arrive by 11:00 a.m. If a student has met the requirements of 3.0 or
higher with 12 semester credit hours completed in each of the long semesters and did not
receive a letter of notification to attend the Honors Day Convocation as an honoree, they
are encouraged to call 713.313.6725 to be added to the list.

of Contemporary Literature, will give a lecture/discussion

floor, Exhibit Room on diversity in Hollywood, The Oscars,
and the changing roles of African American men in movies.
The lecture will be from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The Heart - A Lonely Man’s Cry For Love”, will be presented
by author Roy Stewart Jr. and sponsored by the Robert
James Terry Library on Wednesday, April 13, at 4:00 p m in
the RJT 1st floor, Exhibit Room. This poetry reading will
feature several acclaimed performers as part of the libraries
annual recognition of its community awareness events
curriculum and National Poetry Month.
--------------------------------From Wednesday, April 27 – Friday, April 29, the Robert
J. Terry Library and the College of Liberal and Behavioral
Arts will host a read-in of Lillian Jones Horace’s Five
Generations Hence, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of
Horace’s historic work. Horace was the first published
African American novelist in Texas and one of the first black
publishers in American history when she printed her racial
separatist novel, Five Generations Hence. The read-in will
include a dynamic display with artifacts, books, pictures and
memorabilia. It will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.in
the RJT 1st floor, Exhibit Room.

Campaign
Faces of Autism Student Art Exhibit April 1
through April 30, 2016
“Faces of Autism” features student’s art from
local schools that work with children on the
Autism spectrum in conjunction with Texas
Southern University’s National Autism Awareness
Month campaign from April 1 until April 30,
2016. The exhibition includes collages, paintings,
and mixed media works of the students from
Westview School, Avondale House and Gardens
Elementary and is presented by Texas Southern
University Department of Human Services &
Consumer Sciences and Avondale House.

strategies that utilizes music to support attention,
