ANNUAL SCHEDULING MEETING
Attention organization heads: the
parish‘s annual
scheduling meeting
will be held this
Thursday, June 11, at
6:30 pm in the Church
Conference Room. Please plan to
attend.
NEWCOMERS’ REGISTRATION
&
N O T E S
The Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the
priests in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass on
Sundays and weekdays. Extraordinary Ministers also take
Communion to the sick and the homebound, a ministry that
brings much comfort to those who cannot join us at Mass but
hunger for the Eucharist. The Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist are
required to participate in one spiritual reflection lasting a couple hours which
the parish provides and are re-commissioned on the Solemnity of the Body
and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), which is next Sunday. The recommissioning ceremony will be at all of the weekend Masses and follows
the homily.
******
I will be making the annual retreat for diocesan priests this week from
Monday through Friday, which will be held at Pokagon State Park, just north
of here. Please pray for me and my brother priests as we join Bishop D‘Arcy
for this time of prayer, reflection and relaxation. Father Jason and Father
Thomas have chosen not to make their retreat at this time and will be making
their retreat at a later date.
******
We will be honoring the eighth grade graduates of our parish grade school at
a Graduation Mass Tuesday evening of this week. We congratulate them on
their achievement as well as all the young graduates of our parish, whether it
be from high school or college. May they use well their God-given talents.
Our gifts, as Saint Paul reminds us, are to be used for the common good, and
not simply for one‘s personal gain. May these young people cultivate a
servant‘s heart, which means they will sacrifice much for the good of others.

Sister Lorine Huelskamp, a religious sister of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus
Christ, died this past Monday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in
Plymouth, Indiana. She lived at Ancilla Domini Convent in Donaldson,
Indiana, which is the motherhouse of the Poor Handmaids. I was saddened
to hear of her sudden death, as I have kept contact with her since her years
as Assistant Principal of our parish grade school (1982—1986). Two of her
blood sisters (also Poor Handmaids) served in our parish grade school, Sister
Lawrence who has since died, and Sister David who is still living but is in very
poor health. A fourth sister, Sister Ervin, (also a Poor Handmaid), died several
years ago. I believe Sister Lorine‘s parents had nine children, four of whom
became religious sisters. May God grant Sister Lorine eternal rest and peace,
and may we keep in our prayers Sister David who mourns the death of her
dear sister.
Parish representatives will be in the
Church Conference Room, next
Sunday, June 14, after the 9:00 am
Mass to welcome and register new
members to St. Vincent‘s.

LOOKING FOR LECTORS, EM, SERVERS, SACRISTANS
We are in need of more teens to discern the call to be a lector, Minister of
Holy Communion, Server and Sacristan. All except servers need to be at
least 16 years of age. Please let Tracy know if you are interested in serving
in any of these ministries.
WELCOME INCOMING FRESHMEN
We had a wonderful turnout last week of incoming freshmen, over 40 new
teens came to our Welcome Freshmen night!! What a blessing. We
encourage all of you to continue to join us. On Wednesday we have Ministry
Hour at 7:30 pm in the Life House. Next Sunday we have another awesome
Life Night planned. Please join us after the LT Mass in the Gathering Space.
We also encourage all of you to sit with us up front in the pews reserved for
teens, and to participate by bringing up the gifts, ushering and serving.
SUMMER DRESS FOR MASS
Dear Teens, as the weather gets warmer, please be more aware of what you
are wearing to Mass. Please refrain from wearing short shorts, tank tops
etc. The hour we are at Mass is time for the Lord, and we would not want
anyone to be distracted by what another person is wearing. Please dress
respectfully for Our Lord.
TRUE BEAUTY REVEALED AND GIRL GENIUS
These two ENDOW (Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women)
programs are opportunities for junior high and high school girls to learn
about their feminine genius, God-given dignity and vocation as women! All
pre-teen and teen girls are invited to join us for these two programs as we
discover, discuss and celebrate what it means to be young women in the
world, through lessons, group discussions, creative activities and prayer.
Megan Oberhausen, from the Office of Youth Ministry, will facilitate both
groups, which will meet at St. Charles Parish in the Youth Ministry Center.
Girl Genius, a four-week program for junior high girls, ages 11 to 13, will
meet on Monday evenings at 6:30 pm beginning June 22. True Beauty
Revealed, a six-week program for high school girls, will meet on Thursday
mornings at 10:00 am beginning June 25. The cost is $30 per participant
and registration is required. For more information, please visit
www.endowline.com or contact Megan directly at 260-422-4611 or
[email protected].
SERVANT LEADERSHIP
Teens, I know how quickly your summer schedules fill up and I don‘t want
any of you to miss out on this awesome opportunity. The Diocese is offering
a great opportunity this summer. It is a combination: close to home Mission
Trip and Leadership Camp. It will take place July 21-25 in South Bend.
During the day you would go out in the community serving in different ways,
and in the evening you will learn how to be a leader in all aspects of your
life, through great speakers, small group activities and more. Please ask
Tracy for more details on this exciting opportunity!

A GREAT RESPONSE
Last week was Inquiry weekend for the
RCIA. There was a great response.
Several people came in to inquire
about the process and many signed up
to sponsor this year. If you have any
questions about Catholicism, or the
RCIA process, please call Judy at the
church office 489-3537, ext. 208.
DIVORCED CATHOLIC SUPPORT GROUP
The Divorced Catholic support group
will not be meeting formally during the
summer. The Core Team is busy
planning programs, starting in September.
Keep watching the bulletin for
announcements for this group. For any
social get-togethers, members will be
contacted by e-mail. If we do not have
your e-mail, please call it into the
church office, 489-3537, ext. 208.
BAPTISMAL PREPARATION CLASS
Attendance at two Baptismal
Preparation Sessions is required
before your child is baptized. Each
session will begin at 7:00 pm. It is
recommended that you attend before
the birth of your child so that there will
be no delay in setting a date for the
baptism once the baby is born.
Godparents, too, are welcome. Please
call the church office to register for
your sessions. NO SESSIONS IN JULY.

I‘m a big believer that succeeding with money is
eighty percent behavior and twenty percent
knowledge. Don‘t get me wrong. The twenty percent
knowledge factor is critical. But values, attitude,
and behavior will be your keys to achieving true
financial freedom.
Intuitively, most of us know what it means to be
responsible with money: be generous, spend wisely,
and save for the future. Instead, we give out of
what‘s left over, spend beyond our means, and
misuse debt! Why is there this disconnect between
what we know we should do, and what we actually
do?
St. Paul speaks eloquently of the virtues in
Philippians 4:8: ―Finally, brethren, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is
pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if
there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of
praise, think about these things.‖ Yet the same
St. Paul wrote, ―I do not understand my own actions.
For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I
hate‖ (Romans 7:15).
Why this struggle? It‘s the result of our fallen
nature. But Jesus makes it clear in today‘s Gospel
that he expects his disciples to ―observe all that I
commanded you‖ (Mt. 28:20). The more you
succeed in being a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ,
the more effectively you will manage the resources
entrusted to you. As the United States Bishops
described in their Pastoral Letter on Stewardship,
―Becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ leads naturally
to the practice of stewardship.‖ God love you.

This project is sponsored by Three
Rivers Educational Trust Fund - the
educational and charitable outreach of
Allen County Right to Life and pro-life
friends in the community.
We give away diapers to needy families
every Thursday morning in the parking lot
of Statewood Baptist Church (across the
street from the local abortion facility on
Inwood Drive). The project runs from
June through August and provides a
much needed item to families who have
chosen life for their babies even in difficult
financial circumstances. Diapers are not
covered by WIC vouchers or food
stamps. This is our opportunity to reach
out to families with the love of Jesus by
supplying this need. This project also
brings children and parents to Inwood
Drive on the day women are in the area
for abortion procedures.
You can help by bringing a package of
diapers to church on June 20th or 21st.
Look for the baby cribs that will be
available for diaper collection that
weekend.
What a great way to
celebrate Father’s Day!
