Inglewood Hosts 20th Annual King Day Celebration
DR. KING HONORED DURING INGLEWOOD’S
CELEBRATION OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER’S LIFE AND LEGACY
Over one thousand marchers took to the streets, marched, sang and participated in the
festivities of Inglewood’s 22nd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Day
Celebration.
2004 Track and Field Olympic Gold Medalist, Joanna Hayes,
100.3 The Beat radio personality Shirley Strawberry, and KTLA
Channel 5 television newscaster Michaela Pereira served as CoGrand Marshals for a symbolic march which recreated the spirit
and enthusiasm of the civil rights marches of the 1960’s.
Prior to the march, participants assembled at The
Tabernacle at Faithful Central Bible Church where they were
inspired by several rousing speeches. Dr. William Thurmond,
Senior Pastor of Park Windsor Baptist Church, captivated the audience with a stirring and
inspirational keynote address and KJHL 102.3 FM radio personality Janine Haydel, served as the
mistress of ceremonies for the program.
