Welcome to the autumn / winter season
at Bedford Corn Exchange
The autumn season is finally here and we have an exceptional line up of comedy, music and entertainment to suit all
tastes here at Bedford Corn Exchange.

WHAT’S ON
There’s entertainment for everyone at Bedford Corn Exchange…
…for comedy lovers
Comedy is always very popular and we welcome the return of Dave Gorman, Henning Wehn, Jim Davidson and Joe Avati
who is back to bring more hilarious stories about growing up in an Italian family in an English speaking country, whilst
Seann Walsh, Shappi Khorsandi, Rory McGrath & Philip Pope make their first appearance on our stage.
Bedford Comedy Club also returns for the new season in September where the varied line up of comedians is always
destined to fill the Harpur Suite with laughter.
Philharmonia Orchestra return for their 20th anniversary in October and kick start the new season playing two of the
best-loved works of all time – Chopin’s serene First Piano Concerto and Dvorák’s New World Symphony. If rock music
is more to your taste, the Bon Jovi Experience is back to perform some of the greatest hits from the best stadium
rock band of all time. Chas & Dave, The Animals and Hawkwind will all bring their own unique sounds courtesy of our
partnership with PAD ENTS.
It’s never too early to think about Christmas and if you have not yet organised your work party, give me a call and we
can organise it all for you, from the room decoration, entertainment, technical support and the catering. All you need
to do is bring your colleagues and enjoy the party. We also have a mixed party on Saturday 13th December in the Main
Auditorium with a ‘Through the Decades’ theme and includes a meal, live band and a disco. Fancy dress is very much
encouraged and brings a real fun factor to the event. There is another party on Saturday 20th December with a disco
and meal. Our Christmas menus are available online.

Shappi Khorsandi - Because I’m Shappi
The Lindisfarne Story
After being knocked up like a 1950s teenager Shappi missed 2013, but
now she is back and it’s forward march. Reflecting on the good things, she
celebrates her haphazard, zigzag towards her dreams. She introduces us to
friends, family and total strangers who have helped her on her personal
Yellow Brick Road..
Lindisfarne was Tyneside’s best-loved band for over thirty years and The
Lindisfarne Story is a celebration of the group’s music and achievements. The
show is devised, written and performed by drummer/founder member Ray
Laidlaw, and Billy Mitchell, front man for the final eight years of the group. Ray
and Billy perform acoustic versions of Lindisfarne’s classic songs and tell the
inside story of the group’s rise to fame illustrated with personal photographs,
archive video and rare music tracks. From Whitley Bay to San Francisco Bay,
from Rothbury to Glastonbury.
She’s feisty, flirty and effortlessly funny she handles every subject with a razor
sharp wit, softened only by her deliciously dizzy delivery and endless charm.

Henning Wehn
After more than a decade in Britain, the German Comedy Ambassador has
‘groan’ to like puns.... though he still couldn’t eat a whole one.
As Henning’s assimilation is not yet complete he hasn’t lost his sense of
Westphalian wonderment at the foibles of British society.
Why does everybody want to be owned by a house? What’s wrong with having
the Euro? And why hold society and government responsible for personal
underachievement? You’ve only got yourself to blame for not being born into a
better social class.

Seann Walsh: 28
The Lie-In King is back!
Seann Walsh has managed to search deep inside himself to find the inner strength to get out of bed and all the way
into his support act’s car, parked just outside his flat JUST FOR YOU. Before you commend him too much for this
act of heroism, be aware he will sleep in the car.
BCEX presents
In his last show ’The Lie-In King’, 2013 Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, Seann was living alone and
trying to sort himself out. At 28 years of age he returns with his aptly named new show ’28’ where he is now living
with his girlfriend, and she is trying to sort him out.
This extraordinary show, dubbed The Definitive Pink Floyd Experience, is renowned for its stunning celebration of
one of the world’s greatest musical phenomena.
Star of Channel 4’s ‘Stand Up For The Week’, BBC1’s ‘Live At The Apollo’ ‘Michael McIntryre’s Comedy Roadshow’,
and Dave’s ‘Argumental’, Seann is a charming and charismatic natural born observational storyteller, and one of the
most frighteningly precocious talents to emerge from the UK comedy circuit in years.
Seann Walsh has also starred in his own series ‘Seann Walsh World’ (Comedy Central) and is quickly becoming a
well-respected comedy actor performing in ‘Big Bad World’ (Comedy Central) and BBC1’s new series ‘Monks’.
