PRIME DISPATCH
Edition 46 – 9 January 2015
Compiled by Joe O’Neill
Hijack Hussy after winning the Lexus Hybrid Plate at Flemington
Can she win the $1 million Magic Millions Guineas?
Answer - Yes!!!
Aa Welcome to the first Prime Dispatch for 2015. What an exciting start to the new year it has been.
The blur that is Magic Millions is upon us and I have been going hard since I started my final
inspections last Saturday. The sale has been very strong with the horses on our shortlist being very
popular. I am hoping to purchase a couple more.
Whatever the outcome of the Magic Millions Guineas at the Gold Coast tomorrow the ride Hijack
Hussy has given her owners has been wonderful. She is an exciting filly and going forward may be
Athe best horse we have syndicated. Good luck to her owners tomorrow. She is in great shape and has
the right barrier draw.

I inspected Hijack Hussy’s ½ brother several times both at the farm in Scone and at this sale.
Unfortunately he didn’t grab me and while I could have syndicated him in a New York minute didn’t
feel he was the right horse for us. It is interesting that our selection team and also Tony Gollan were
also not on the colt. If he had not been Hijack Hussy’s ½ brother he would have been hard to sell in
my opinion.
Our other runners for the weekend are Unique at Royal Randwick, Sanosuke at Newcastle and
Rumeron in Hobart. These three horses look to have good prospects.
MAGIC MILLIONS SALES
I’m thrilled with our three purchases so far. The Hinchinbrook filly out of Al’s Magic Miss by
Hinchinbrook is a really good two year old type. She is fully syndicated and is an all lady’s syndicate.
Kris Lees will train her for us. She could well prove to be one of the best buys of the sale. Another
Hinchinbrook filly we had rated equally with her sold yesterday for $230,000. I was the under
bidder!!!
After I did my inspections in the Hunter Valley I wasn’t hard to pick that either Smart Missile or
Sepoy would be the leading first season sires. They are the right types of stallions for our market.
Foxwedge was also in the mix. I was keen to get a Smart Missile filly and did a lot of work on the
ones on offer. In the end I had three on my list. To pick up Lot 325 a cracking filly by Smart Missile
out of a really well related Encosta de Lago mare for $77,000 was a coup.
She is a ripper and will head to Tony McEvoy to be trained from his Sydney stable. Tony is doing a
great job and his results across the board have been outstanding this season with him sitting in the top
15 on the Australian Trainer’s List. He had a double in Sydney last Saturday. I will be syndicating
her as a 10 share partnership @ $11,000 each with 5% shares on offer for $5,500.
It is no secret that I am a big fan of Husson. He is a terrific young sire with wonderful results given
the relatively small number of mares he served. I loved Lot 301 a really nice filly by Husson out of
the very well related Fastnet Rock mare Head Over Heels. She will go to Quensland’s premier trainer
Tony Gollan to be trained from his stable at Eagle Farm. She is also on the market at $11,000 per
share with 5% shares @ $5,500.
This pedigree has had a substantial update with Serena Miss out of Head Over Heels ½ sister being
placed in the Group 2 WRC Wakeful Challenge Stakes recently in NZ. Serena Liss is a two year old.
All in all it has been a very successful week and I’m looking forward to the next few days. This has
been a great sale for us over the years and in my opinion is going from strength to strength. The fact
there are a lot more Hunter Valley bred horses in the sale is a a very good indicator of the positive
direction the sale is taking.
