Japanese Shaved Ice (Kakigori) Tasting
Kakigōri is a Japanese shaved ice dessert flavored with syrup and a
sweetener, often condensed milk.
Some shops provide colorful varieties by using two or more different
syrups. To sweeten kakigōri, condensed or evaporated milk is often poured
on top of it. It is similar to a snow cone, but with some notable differences:
it has a much smoother fluffier ice consistency, much like fresh fallen snow,
and a spoon is almost always used to eat it.

Travel Trade Meet 2015 (7 – 8 Sep 2015)
JNTO Singapore will be organizing B2B meetings with travel partners from 7 to 8 Sep in two cities – Kuala Lumpur and
Penang. The 2015 Visit Japan Travel Trade Meet serves as a platform for Malaysian travel agencies to meet up with their
Japanese sellers to venture into new markets and explore expansion opportunities.
Following the increase in Malaysian travelers to Japan over the years, B2B meetings would greatly benefit both travel
agencies and the Japanese sellers. This trade meet event also facilitates for a smoother exchange of ideas and

★ Malaysian Visitor Arrival Numbers to Japan
In 2014, the number of Malaysian visitors to Japan set a new record with 249,500 visitors, which is 41.3% higher than 2013
( 176,521) The surge is mainly due to the depreciation of yen, the visa exemption on biometric Malaysian passports, as
well as the increase in flights from Malaysia to Japan.
For the first half of 2015, Malaysian visitors’ arrival to Japan has been on the upward trend with 133,600 tourists registering
a 15% increase as compared to previous year.
With its new website launch and an ongoing website promotional campaign, “Go Go Japan” in partnership with mega store
Aeon Malaysia, JNTO Singapore remains confident that Malaysian visitors will set another new record in 2015.
