wear-compensating seals for superior piston-tube sealing. Heat,
vibration and rod turning during cylinder stroking can cause some
piston/rod assemblies to come apart. We eliminate the possibility by:

the load and other mechanisms, we recommend that cushions be
installed in the cylinder and the use of hydraulic shock absorbers for
overall protection.

Our 2HS Series cylinders use a metal-to-metal cushion system. This
system ensures the cylinder and cushion can handle the high shock
loads that are generated when decelerating the cylinder. The head
cushion floats on the piston rod to allow for any rod misalignment
that could occur, and is held in position by a shoulder on the rod.
The cap cushion is machined from the piston rod tail.

The cushion spear enters the cushion cavity of the head or cap
forcing the hydraulic oil through 2 passages. As the oil reaches the
check valve it helps seal it and forces the fluid through the needle
valve passage. Adjusting the needle valve controls the cylinder
deceleration rate.

When the cylinder needs to change travel direction, the oil entering
the cylinder port pushes through the needle and check valve
passages. It opens the check valve and pushes against the piston.
As the cushion spear exits the cavity, it allows full flow of the oil to
act on the piston.

The check and needle valves are positioned flush with the head
and cap surfaces. The passages are drilled as large as possible to
provide maximum cushion control and rapid full power starts at the
beginning of the stroke.
Remove the retaining
plate screws and retaining
plate. The screws are on
the outside of the retaining
plate so you can use
either an allen wrench or
a pair of channel locks.
Remove the Uni- cartridge
by placing 2 standard
screwdrivers in the grooves
on the Uni-cartridge, use
the head as a fulcrum and
pry it out.
Place a new Uni- cartridge
assembly in the cylinder,
and re- attach the retaining
plate and screws.
The rod end is always under stress and strain.
Therefore, we use
hard chrome-plated, 100,000 PSI minimum yield steel. This steel
handles the stress and strain well and, we specially machine the
rod end to further reduce stress.
We offer 7 rod end styles to
meet your application needs.
Two of these rod end styles
(studded and flange coupling)
provide added rod end strength.
