Established in 1992, the PT Mak Nyah Programme has fostered
good rapport with the transgender communities (also known as Mak
Nyahs) living in Kuala Lumpur. This community-based program focuses on issues such self-empowerment, human rights, personal
development in addition to health concerns related to HIV/AIDS and STI.
In our drop-in centre, we focus on empowerment through education and offer gender and sexuality education for our clients, to
address the issues of stigma and discrimination which they may have personally experienced. We believe it is important to provide
support groups and education sessions which empower them to deal with the issues that they must face on a daily basis. We strive to
support life skills capacity building through providing education materials and other support programmes to the community members.
PT Foundation’s Sex Workers Programme, established in 1992, provides a safe space for sex workers to address their concerns. Our
drop-in centre provides a variety of sessions and support groups, aimed at empowering sex workers and building their self-confidence
to overcome years of judgment and discrimination against them.
Ikhlas is another one of the five programmes at PT Foundation. Founded in 1992, its objective is to address the pressing needs of the
street based drug user community. Ikhlas caters for their physical needs, while being committed to providing information, materials,
care and support services relating to HIV/AIDS and drug use.

ADAM The Musical – An Uncommon Love
Saturday, 12 June, 2010, was an evening to remember. The Malaysian AIDS Council welcomed 45 members from our community to
The Actors Studio to be immersed in the uncommon love of Adam - The Musical. Across the theatre many were moved. Emotions
were sent straight from the core of the cast and everyone working behind the scene.

“Many who attended (Adam - The Musical) have never had the courage to
come for any meetings. Adam was a great reason they came. There are many
people who have supported us in many different ways, those close to us, our
friends & even total strangers like Joe Hasham, Dato’ Faridah Merican, Mark
Beau de Silva and the whole cast whose lives have been touched by someone
living with HIV. We all still have our own stories to write, our own stories to
tell”. - Andrew Tan, Community Coordinator & former MAC EXCO

Besides that, we were also blessed with the overwhelming media coverage
from various media agencies. There were coverage from 8 television
programmes, 3 radio programmes, 13 daily newspapers, 12 magazines
and 1 new age media with a total coverage of RM1, 113 605 and total
readership/viewership of 15, 932 399. With the benevolent support of our
media friends for Adam - The Musical, we were able to engage and educate
the public through this piece of art, bringing out not only its outward charm but also its inward meaning of love for people living with
HIV in Malaysia.

Last but not least, we would like to seize this opportunity to thank those who had supported Adam - The Musical. We would also like
to wish our community to be healthy and be happy as per the theme song ‘We Are Alive’.
