Spring has arrived and things are blossoming at all
of our stores. We celebrate our 20th anniversary at
our GreenAcres Wichita location this year—hard to
believe. With growth comes revelation. We learned,
for example, GreenAcres—with eight stores—is one
of the larger chains in the industry. After the “big
guys,” we’re number five! Recently, we had a chance
to attend the annual
Natural Products Expo
tradeshow in Anaheim,
CA. With more than
90,000 exhibitors and
attendees, it was the
largest show ever.
We met with partner
vendors, looked at new
products, networked
with industry experts,
and came home with
fresh ideas and new
grocery and health and beauty items.

4. Non-GMO Project labeling—very important.
Those labels let our customers know
vendors have gone through a rigorous
screening process.
1. Be prepared for all things “salted caramel.” From
yogurts, to chocolate, to milk, to ice cream, even
protein bars and gummy vitamins!
As a kid growing up with blue
corn chips in my lunch and
“grass” in my sandwiches, I
was thrilled to see how natural
products have evolved and how
good they taste!
I realize that it’s not just
about what we eat – but it’s
all about maintaining balance
and reducing stress. I recently
learned a fun exercise from a
favorite supplement formulator
who visited us last month—Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum,
author of From Fatigue to Fantastic. He suggests
doing a gut check. Make a list of everything you
are committed to and then ask yourself these three
questions: Do you enjoy being involved with this?
Would the world fall apart if you weren’t involved
with this? What DO you enjoy doing? How can you
do more of that? Self-revelation to be sure! Happy
spring everyone. Let’s take stock. It’s time to get
outside and play!

What we liked when we were first introduced to the

Tackle these three major areas in
your home to make a difference.
1. START WITH YOUR CLOSET.
Get rid of all those size 8 clothes you hope
to get into one day. By the time you lose
enough weight to squeeze into them,
they’ll be out of fashion. Thrift shops and
the Goodwill need them. Make sure they’re
clean, folded neatly and haul them off
before you reconsider.
2. NEXT: DIRTY WALLS.
The product developer of Benjamin Moore
says, “Start with a clean cloth or sponge
and water. If that doesn’t work, dip the rag
or sponge into water mixed with a little
dishwashing liquid, the milder the better.
If the stain persists, apply a few drops of
soap directly onto the wet sponge or cloth
you’re using. For really tough cases: paint!
3. CARPETS.
Try to vacuum every day and use a top-load
vacuum, so the dirt falls inward. Change
filters often, so you don’t blow pollutants
back into the air. For less-trafficked areas,
you can get away with cleaning the carpets
once or twice a year, and every 18 months
for a bedroom. For higher-traffic areas,
bring in the pros.

Directions
Cut asparagus tips into 2-in. lengths.
(Discard stalks or save for another use.)
Place asparagus tips in a 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in.
baking pan lined with foil. Drizzle with
1 teaspoon oil and toss to coat. Sprinkle with
salt and pepper. Bake at 425° for
10-15 minutes or until crisp-tender.
Brush baguette slices on both sides with
remaining oil. Place on a baking sheet. Broil
for 1-2 minutes on each side or until toasted.
Top each slice with asparagus, prosciutto
and cheese. Broil 3-4 in. from the heat for
2-3 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Yield: 1 dozen.
