Are you looking for a new volunteer
community leadership opportunity? You
might want to consider representing
ConocoPhillips on the United Way of
Texas Gulf Coast Allocations Committee.
This group evaluates the services provided by local agencies and helps determine how much annual United Way
funding they will receive.
“An Allocations volunteer visits six to
eight agencies. The team of 12-15 volunteers makes recommendations on United
Way funding and enhancements to programs,” said Gerardo Rivera, BDCommercial, an Allocations volunteer
prior to his move to California.

Network service groups have joined forces in
the Send One Suit (S.O.S.) drive, March 2024. The drive will help Dress for Success
Houston collect new or gently worn interview
suits for low-income women to enter the
workforce.
You can help by donating one (or more)
clean, pressed, interview-appropriate suits on
hangers. Place them in any wardrobe collection
box in the Lobo building, loading dock, east
walkway at ConocoPhillips Center and at
Westlake and Threadneedle buildings.
Dress for Success inventories were greatly
depleted in 2005 and your help is needed to
rebuild the inventory. All sizes are needed, but
larger sizes are preferred. Cash donations also
are accepted. For only $55, a new woman’s
suit in the much-needed large or plus-size can
be purchased. Drop off cash donations to
Andrea Baca Pinkel at MA 3078.

The Special Olympics Sporting Clays
Tournament still has volunteer positions
open on Friday, March 24, and Saturday,
March 25, at the American Shooting
Center, 16500 Westheimer Parkway.
Volunteers are needed to help with registration, score cards, parking and data
entry for the morning shift (9 a.m.-noon)
and afternoon shift (noon-3 p.m.). This is a
family event and students requiring community service hours are encouraged to
volunteer. Registered volunteers will be
eligible to win an opportunity to participate in the tournament.

2006 Rodeo Run breaks
all records
Nearly 6,400 registrants and
more than 1,400 employees,
retirees, contractors and family
volunteers took part in making
the 2006 ConocoPhillips Rodeo
Run a huge success! The event,
held on Sat., Feb. 25, raised an
unprecedented $145,000 for the
Houston Livestock Show and
Rodeo Educational Fund. Since
the race began in 1988, the company has donated $1.65 million
toward college scholarships for
Texas youth.
