RULES & REGULATIONS
All exhibits must be entered on: SUNDAY, August 21 from 12pm to 8pm,
MONDAY, August 22 from 12pm to 8pm

It is encouraged that exhibitors with non-perishable only exhibits bring them in on SUNDAY!!!

FROM NOON TO 7PM
A watchman will be on duty at night to guard the building and its contents. The Fair
Association will not be responsible for anything left in Floral Hall.
Articles will be judged on color, design, appropriateness and workmanship.
The exhibitor must make all articles.
Only one entry is allowed per person in each class.
*A working telephone number must be submitted for each entrant. *
All exhibits should be clean and unstained, suitable for exhibition.
Management reserves the right to refuse any entry.
*Premiums may be picked up Thursday, August 25th after 12pm in Floral Hall if you are at
the fair. No passes will be given.*
Previously submitted articles winning a cash premium will not be accepted for

Section 25-Hand Spun Skeins
Identify material used,(animal or plant)
Skeins must be hand spun by exhibitor
Each hand spun skein must contain a minimum of 1oz of fiber and be 1 ½ to 2 yards in
circumference, wound neatly and tied in at least 2 places.
Yarn may be single or plied
Skeins will be judged on consistency of spinning and plying, appropriate hand and
overall quality
Each entry must be accompanied by a 3X5 card, folded in half and taped closed. On
the inside, PRINT CLEARLY: Entrants name, Address and Telephone number.

The Northeast Handspinners Association is sponsoring a $25.00 prize for the

If an item is in for judging, it cannot be taken out of the exhibit hall until the
end of the fair without special permission from the superintendent of Floral
Hall.

Section 5 – Basketry
Beginner: including, but not limited to a simple style basket using a wooden or woven base,
start & stop or continuous weaving and finished using flat oval or flat reed. The shape of the
basket should follow the natural shape of the base.

Intermediate/Advanced: including, but not limited to a basket demonstrating several
weaving techniques i.e. twined base, solid woven base, start/stop weaving, continuous, the
addition of dyed reed, twill, weave & chase, the use of handles, etc. The basket will also
demonstrate strong skills in shaping with consistency. Basket shapes may include but are not
limited to catshead style, fishing creels, back packs, a basket using a handle & the handle fits
well, a basket with a lid and the lid fits well.

Premiums will be paid in this section in accordance to their merits as are exhibited, including
vegetables, fruits and plants. Children can have the option to compete with adults if desired.

Individual Senior Citizen’s Exhibits (ages 62 & up)
Premiums will be paid in this section in accordance to their merits as are exhibited, including
vegetables, fruits & plants. PREMIUMS: $3.00, $2.00, $1.00
CHILDREN’S COLORING CONTEST
To encourage those 12 years of age and under to participate at the fair a picture to color,
paint or decorate is included with the booklet. Copies may be made if wanted. Please
put the age of the entrant on the front and the name, town of residence and telephone
number on the back.
There will be 4 age divisions:

2) From 3 to 5 years old
3) From 6 to 9 years old
4) From 10 to 12 years old

Superintendent reserves the right to refuse anything that may not be age
appropriate.
GARDEN PRODUCTS DIVISION
Vegetables must conform to the list and be grown by exhibitor. Vegetables must be clean,
free from injury, disease and conform to variety.
Only one premium of the same variety per exhibitor.
No two members of the same family can enter vegetables, farm crops, dairy products,
canned goods and fruit, etc. in the same class.
Beets, carrots and onions should be exhibited with 1-1/4” to 1-1/2” of top remaining. Do
not remove roots, but wash thoroughly. Onions should not be peeled, and only one strip
peeled down on corn. Vegetables are judged on size, shape, cleanliness, freedom from
disease and insect damage.
Large size generally denotes over maturity and poor
quality.
Number of specimens required shown after each article.
Plates for display will be furnished by the Fair Association.

2) Make a crockpot full of your favorite baked beans. Bring them to Floral

Hall on Wednesday, Aug 24th before 9am (gates will be open, no ticket
needed to get on the grounds). Judging will be done on Wednesday.

***As in the previous few years it has been the decision of the volunteers that work in
Floral Hall that the baked goods that are entered be offered to the public for a donation
to the local HOPE backpack program. It is preferred, rather than watch the entries
mold over the 5 days that they are at the fair. If you would prefer NOT to participate in
this endeavor, please let us know when items are entered. Thank you.
THE MALCOLM JENKINS AWARD: in honor of the late Malcom Jenkins there
will be a $5.00 premium and a special ribbon given to the largest zucchini entered at the fair.

LARGEST PUMPKIN CONTEST
Prizes will be given for the heaviest/largest in four different age groups. The pumpkin does not have
to be ripe.

Flower Show Exhibits
An exhibitor may not enter more than one exhibit in each variety. Two or less entering in any
variety of potted plants, cut flowers or arrangement is considered “no competition” and a first
place premium will be given ONLY if entry exhibits real merit. Generally, second premium will
be the high award in such cases.
Bring your own containers. Arrange your own flowers by class.
The Association cannot be responsible for containers holding exhibits.

SPECIAL CONTESTS:
1) Make a stadium seat or cushion. Something “comfy”
that you would use to sit on during a long baseball game.
It can be made from any medium you choose. Knit,
crocheted, sewn, repurposed or even constructed from
wood?
PREMIUMS: $10.00
2) Make your own baseball cap using any medium
(wood?). Embellish as you wish with your favorite team
emblem (national or local). The more creative the better!
PREIUMS: $5.00
3) Let's fill our stadium! Enter anything else made with
a baseball theme (quilt, afghan, shirt, painting, photo,
etc.)

4) For all of our local baseball/softball players...make
your own baseball card. Include a 4x6” picture, with
your first name, team and position mounted on a 5x7”
posterboard. Get your whole team to enter!

Adult Coloring Pages. Doing all that coloring? Why not
mount your favorite on posterboard and display it at the
