Chairman, Turcas Petrol
Erdal Aksoy has been the Chairman of Turcas Petrol and its controlled
subsidiaries since 1996. He is also the Founding Chairman of Aksoy
Holding, Aksoy Real Estate, Enak Trading and Conrad Istanbul Hotel
as well as a Board Member of Shell & Turcas Petrol and Vice Chairman
of RWE & Turcas Power Generation. Mr Aksoy is a member of the
Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (TÜSİAD)
and the Advisory Board of the Turkish Economic and Social Studies
Foundation (TESEV) as well as former Chairman of the Turkish
Shipowners Employers Association.
PEKKA ALA-PIETILÄ
Chairman of the Board, Solidium
Pekka Ala-Pietilä is currently the Chairman of the Board of Solidium,
the national investment company of the State of Finland, as well as
Huhtamaki, a global packaging company. He also serves as a member
of the Supervisory Board of SAP and is a member of the Board of
Directors of Pöyry. Mr Ala-Pietilä co-founded mobile media company
Blyk and spent over 20 years at Nokia, most recently as President of
Nokia Corporation (1999–2005) and prior to that as President of

MONICA ALFONSO,
President, MoMo Consulting
Monica Alfonso is the President of Miami-based MoMo Consulting,
a boutique public relations and marketing firm specialising in the
introduction of small businesses and startups into the Latin American
marketplace. As a project manager for the Nobel Charitable Trust,
Ms Alfonso has managed the implementation of key health and
renewable energy initiatives throughout Southeast Asia and the United
States. She has degrees in political science, specialising in foreign
policy relations, and journalism from Florida International University.
KIMMO ALKIO
President and Chief Executive Officer, Tieto Corporation
Kimmo Alkio took on his role as President and Chief Executive Officer
of Tieto Corporation in November, 2011. During his 25-year career in
IT, software and telecommunications industries, he has held senior
management positions for Operator, Enterprise and Distributionbased businesses. Mr Alkio holds a BBA degree from Texas A&M
University and an Executive MBA degree from Helsinki University
of Technology.
ULLA ALKIO
Ulla Alkio was born in Juuka, Eastern Finland in 1962. She graduated
from the Institute of Hotel and Restaurant Management in Kuopio and
then went on to pursue a career with Finnair as a flight attendant. In her
free time Ulla enjoys reading, photography and being with her family.

Chief Executive Officer, Head of eni Trading & Shipping S.p.A.
Marco Alverà became Head eni Midstream in 2013. Since joining eni
in 2005, he has served as Chief Executive Officer of eni Trading &
Shipping; Senior Executive Vice President of eni Trading; Executive
Vice President for Russia, North Europe and Americas for eni’s
Exploration & Production Division; and Director of Supply & Portfolio
Development at eni’s Gas & Power Division. He started his career at
Goldman Sachs in London.
MOSTAFA MOHHAMAD ARAGHI
Aligned with a Western academic career, deep erudition in Islamic
thoughts has built in Mostafa Mohhamad Araghi a good base for a bi-dimensional personality familiar with two diverse civilizations,
paving the way towards a professional critic in a comparable sphere.

Deputy Director General, BOTAŞ
İbrahim Said Arınç has been Deputy Director General of BOTAŞ
since October 2012. Prior to this, between 2004–2008, he worked
as Energy Expert in BOTAŞ. He served as the Assistant to Mr Ahmet
Davutoğlu, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister in 2006–2008.
Mr Arınç was the Energy advisor to Turkish President and served in
Turkish Presidency in 2008–2012. İbrahim Said Arınç has a bachelor’s
degree in political science and public administration, and a master’s
degree in international relations from the Bilkent University. He is
currently completing his PhD thesis titled “Natural Gas Geopolitics
of Turkey” at the University of Durham, England.

Chairman, Society for Information Management (SIM),
New York and Chief Executive Officer, Arteche Global Group
Judy Arteche-Carr is a strategic advisor on business strategies,
global sourcing and emerging technologies and has worked with
management teams at Salomon Brothers (Citigroup), JP Morgan
(JPMC), Electronic Data Systems (HP) and Unisys. An adjunct
professor at Fordham University, Ms Arteche-Carr was named one of
the 50 Outstanding Asian Americans in Business in 2011 and one of the
100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the United States in 2009.
ALEX ATZBERGER
Senior Vice President, Head of Fast Growth Markets and
China Growth Plan, SAP
Alex Atzberger leads the orchestration of all investments and overall
strategy to grow SAP’s business in fast-growing countries such as China,
the Middle East and Russia. In 2013, Mr Atzberger was selected as a
Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum. He holds an MBA
from Harvard Business School, and lives with his wife in Shanghai.
HALA AUDI
Head of Rail and Major Projects, Public Spending Group,
UK Treasury
Hala Audi is a senior adviser in the UK Treasury, leading on public
spending issues related to rail infrastructure and operations. Previously
she worked in the international arbitration practice of Skadden Arps,
with assignments in New York, Paris and London. She has a LLM
from Columbia University and a MPA from the Kennedy School of
Government at Harvard.

MEREL BAKKER
Writer and Mindfulness Coach
Merel Bakker is a writer and mindfulness coach. With her children’s
books she aims to develop joy, gratitude, generosity, compassion and
self-confidence in children’s lives, and with her blogs in the Huffington
Post she seeks to make a connection between sustainability and
behavior change.
LUIGI BARBERIS
Chief Representative in Turkey, Eni Irtibat Burosu
Luigi Barberis has been the Chief Representative of the eni Corporate
Liaison Office in Turkey since 2009. He is also Managing Director
of the Turkish joint venture TAPCO, which is building the SamsunCeyhan oil pipeline. He started his working career in 1984 in Vienna
and was later assigned to Bucharest, Milan, Moscow, Sofia, Bombay
and Athens. Mr Barberis studied political science in Milan and
currently lives in Istanbul.
MARIA DI GIULIO BARBERIS
Maria Di Giulio has been working as a business development
consultant for medium Italian companies in Greece and Turkey.
Prior to this, she served as General Manager for the Astaldo Group
of companies (Power Generation) in the then Soviet Union,
India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka (1989–1999). Ms Di Giulio is the
author of articles and books on Russian theater and has a degree
in foreign languages.

MALU VIANA BATISTA
Founder and Executive Director, TAL
Malu Viana Batista has been working in the audiovisual field since
1995. She is the Founder and Executive Director of TAL, a nonprofit organisation that has been developing non-commercial
cultural partnerships between public and cultural TV channels
in all 21 countries of Latin America for the past 10 years. Its
mission is to promote cross-cultural understanding, facilitate the
exchange of audiovisual content and strengthen the work of public
service broadcasters.
MARY BENTHAM
Artist
Mary Bentham, a graduate of the Dutch Royal Academy of Art, has
a particular interest working in stone-carving and photography. As an
advocate for the development of young people, Ms Bentham is senior
youth group leader at the church of St John and St Philip, The Hague. ENIS BERBEROGLU
Editor-in-Chief, Hurriyet
Enis Berberoglu has worked as a reporter and columnist in Istanbul
and Ankara for the Dunya, Hurriyet, Cumhuriyet, Gune and Radikal
newspapers as well as for the CNN Turk channel. He was Hurriyet’s
representative in Bonn and also worked as a war reporter in Baghdad.
Before being appointed Editor-in-Chief for Hurriyet in 2010, Mr
Berberoglu was a columnist and the Ankara Bureau Chief. He is also
the author of three books.

MAITREYI BERY
After an initial career in the travel industry, Maitreyi Bery has devoted her
time to school volunteer work, particularly in school libraries. She has a
background in modern European languages and, having recently moved
to the Netherlands, her current agenda is to learn to speak Dutch.
SUMAN K. BERY
Chief Economist, Shell International B.V.
Suman K. Bery is currently Chief Economist for Shell International
based in The Hague, Netherlands. He has also served as a member
of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India
and the National Statistical Commission; as Director-General of the
National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER ); and as
an advisor to the Governor and Deputy Governors of the Reserve Bank
of India. Mr Bery, a respected media commentator, has also enjoyed a
distinguished career at the World Bank.
ALLAN BLOCK
Chairman of the Board, Block Communications, Inc.
Before being appointed Chairman in 2004, Allan Block held several
management positions within Block Communications and remains
the Director/Chairman of various subsidiaries. These companies span
the cable, newspaper publishing, broadcast and telecom industries.
Mr. Block serves on the board of directors of the American Cable
Association, C-SPAN and the Toledo Museum of Art.

SUSAN ALLAN BLOCK
After 20 years in corporate America, Susan Allan Block pursued
a career in pastry and culinary arts and has earned professional
certificates from the French Culinary Institute, École GrégoireFerrandi and École Ritz Escoffier. Ms Block sits on the Board of
Trustees for the Toledo Zoo, Toledo Children’s Hospital Foundation,
as well as the YMCA and JCC of Greater Toledo, Ohio.
TRISHA DE BORCHGRAVE
Artist and Writer
Trisha de Borchgrave is an artist and writer. She is affiliated with
the Lucy B Campbell Gallery and her work can be seen extensively
at www.trishadeborchgrave.com. Ms de Borchgrave is currently
working on a lifestyle notebook for a European publishing house
and her next exhibition will be at Rialto Living in Palma, Mallorca in
September 2013.
SELORM BRANTTIE
Country Strategist, mPedigree Network
Selorm Branttie is the Country Strategist for mPedigree Network,
an m-health innovator currently operational in five African countries
combating counterfeit medicines using simple ubiquitous technologies
like mobile phones. He is an adjunct lecturer at the Regent University
of Science and Technology, Accra, Ghana as well as Communications
Director at IMANI Center for Policy and Education. Mr Branttie
consults on technology development and deployment with agencies
like the UNDP and UNIC as well as in the Ghanaian private sector.

HARRY BREKELMANS
Executive Vice President, Upstream Operated, Shell
International Exploration and Production B.V.
Before becoming Executive Vice President Upstream Operated,
Harry Brekelmans served as Shell’s Executive Vice President of
Russia and the Caspian Region. He joined the group as a graduate
and has spent 20 years covering a variety of roles, first in Exploration
and Production R&D, followed by assignments in Egypt and the UK
in areas such as geosciences, subsurface operations, development
planning and coordination, and organisational change management.
PETRA BREKELMANS
Petra Brekelmans is Chairwoman of the Hungry Mind Foundation
in The Hague, The Netherlands. The organisation (www.thehungrymind.nl) aims to bring people from different
backgrounds, ages and nationalities together to inspire each other and
improve social cohesion between communities. Petra and Harry and
their son and daughter enjoy traveling and sports, particularly tennis,
as well as hiking in the great outdoors.
DR CAROLINE BUCKEE
Professor, Harvard University
Dr Caroline Buckee is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at
Harvard School of Public Health. Her work focuses on elucidating
the mechanisms driving the dynamics and evolution of the malaria
parasite and other genetically diverse pathogens, using a range
of mathematical approaches in combination with field, genomic,
environmental and mobile phone data.

KATHERINE BUCKNELL
Writer and literary scholar
Katherine Bucknell has degrees from Princeton, Oxford and Columbia
Universities and has published four novels, Canarino, Leninsky
Prospekt, What You Will, and +1. She is the editor of W.H. Auden’s
Juvenilia: Poems 1922–1928 and four volumes of diaries by Christopher
Isherwood. She is co-editor of Auden Studies, a founder of The W.H.
Auden Society, and director of the Christopher Isherwood Foundation.
RUTH CAIRNIE
Executive Vice President, Strategy and Planning, Royal Dutch
Shell plc
Ruth Cairnie is responsible for the development of global group
strategy for all of Shell. She has also served as Vice President for
Group Strategy and was responsible for Shell’s global commercial
fuels business. Prior to that, she worked in a wide range of areas
for Shell, including research, oil markets analysis, B2B businesses,
strategy, supply chain, and mergers and acquisitions.
MARGARETA CARLQUIST
Owner, Staken & Veken
Born in Norrköping, Sweden, Margareta Carlquist grew up in a family
where music was central to daily life. She graduated from Lund
University with degrees in information science and art history. With
her family, Ms Carlquist lived for 18 years abroad – in Geneva, Zurich,
Connecticut and London. She is currently the owner of an interior
design shop and is active in the Concert House Choir.

Executive Vice President, Xyntéo
Stephan Carlquist became a board member of Xyntéo in 2001.
Mr Carlquist, who has 25 years of change management experience
from multinational companies, has previously served as Chief Executive
Officer of Electrolux IT Solutions and has played a central role in
establishing ABB Financial Services, representing the company in
the Americas.
MICHAEL D. CARR
Senior Vice President, UBS Financial Services Inc.
Michael Carr is currently a Senior Vice President at UBS. He heads
The Carr Wealth Management Group in New York City, managing
portfolios for families and pensions. Previously, he was a First Vice
President with Morgan Stanley and spent 10 years with Cigna Financial
Advisors. Mr Carr is a member of The Society of Financial Service
Professionals and is also a member of The Directors Council at UBS.
IPEK CEM TAHA
Director, Columbia Global Centers, Turkey
Ipek Cem Taha is a Turkish entrepreneur, journalist and an active
member of several local and international non-profit organisations.
Since 2011, she has served as the Director and a founder of Columbia
Global Centers in Turkey, which builds collaborative programmes
and projects that link Columbia University to Turkey, and the Turkish
Center to the seven other Global Centers worldwide. After working
for Deutsche bank in New York and later Netwise Communications in
Istanbul, Ms Cem Taha produced and hosted the “Global Leaders”
television programme and has also been a columnist for leading
Turkish newspapers.

CHEN LIMING
President, BP China
Chen Liming has been President of BP China since November 2008
and is also the Chairman of BP (China) Holding Company. He joined
BP from Sasol China where he served as the Executive Vice President.
Mr Chen has held various roles in different industries during his 30-year professional career.
KEN COSTA
Founder and Chairman, Ken Costa Strategic
Ken Costa is Chairman of Ken Costa Strategic and Founding
Partner of DMC Partners, and was previously Chairman of Lazard
International. Before joining Lazard, he was Chairman of EMEA at
UBS Investment Bank. Mr Costa has over 30 years’ experience of
mergers and acquisitions in the City of London. He is highly active in
a number of charitable and faith-based organisations.
DIANE COYLE OBE
Director, Enlightenment Economics
Economist and author Diane Coyle runs the consultancy Enlightenment
Economics and is Vice Chair of the BBC Trust. Diane is also a visiting
research associate at Oxford University’s Smith School of Enterprise
and the Environment, working on competition policy, network markets,
the economics of new technologies and globalisation. Her most recent
book was The Economics of Enough; and the next one, A Brief but
Affectionate History of GDP will be out early next year.

Chief Executive Officer, DNV Business Assurance
Luca Crisciotti joined the Business Assurance Group at Det Norske
Veritas (DNV) in March 2012. He began working for DNV in 2001
as a Sales Manager in Rome before he was made Country Manager
in Japan. Later, he became Director of Operations in DNV Business
Assurance Asia & Australia, living and working in Shanghai.
CHESTER CUNNINGHAM
Chief of Staff, Office of the Chief Executive Officer and
Managing Directors, Xyntéo
Before joining Xyntéo in 2010, Chester Cunningham served as a
diplomat with the Australian government, responsible for advocating
climate and energy policy positions. He has also worked as chiefof-staff within a UN agency in post-war Kosovo, and a commercial
solicitor in a top-tier law firm in Australia. Mr Cunningham has a
master’s in social economics from Aberystwyth University in Wales
and two bachelor’s degrees, one in law and another in science,
from Monash University in Australia.

Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Physics &
Astronomy, University College London
Francisco Diego is Vice President of the UK Association for Astronomy
Education and a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. He is
a keen populariser of astronomy; has extensive experience as a
planetarium producer/presenter, lecturer, author and broadcaster;
and has appeared on TV series including Stephen Hawking’s Universe
and BBC’s The Planets.

Board Member, Unilever Turkey
Şükrü Dinçer became Unilever Turkey Home and Personal Care
Marketing VP in August 2012 and continues to work for the Executive
Board of Unilever Turkey. Prior to this, he worked for the Unilever
Global Market Management Board from Singapore. Mr Dinçer began
his career as Algida Planning Manager in Unilever. Later roles included
Brand Manager for Max, Cornetto and Magnum; regional roles at
Unilever Headquarters in the Netherlands; and, upon returning to
Turkey in 2006, Algida Marketing Director as well as co-chairman
of Turkey Mobile Marketing Association.
STEPHEN DUNNE
Managing Director, AMP Capital Investors
Stephen Dunne joined AMP Capital Investors in 1994 and was
appointed Managing Director in 2004. He has over 25 years’
experience in investment management. AMP Capital Investors is a
specialist investment manager, which manages funds across a range of
asset classes and has offices in Australia, Bahrain, China, India, Japan,
New Zealand, the UK and the United States, with a strong focus on
Asia Pacific.
DR NATHAN EAGLE
Chief Executive Officer, Jana and Adjunct Assistant Professor,
Harvard School of Public Health
Nathan Eagle is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Jana
and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Harvard University. He was
nominated to Wired’s “The Smart List 2012: 50 People who Will
Change the World.” Recently, Nokia name him one of the world’s top
mobile phone developers and he was elected to the TR35 in 2009.

Karianne J. Eriksen is a Registered Nurse specialising in dialysis.
REMI ERIKSEN
Chief Executive Officer, DNV Maritime and Oil & Gas
Remi Eriksen is Chief Executive Officer of DNV Maritime and Oil
& Gas and a member of the DNV Executive Committee. Mr Eriksen
has extensive experience in leading change in a global, multi-cultural
environment to capture growth opportunities. He holds a master’s
in Electronics and Computer Science from the Norwegian Institute
of Technology and has had executive education at Rice University,
IMD and INSEAD.
DR STEVEN FRIES Chief Economist, UK Department of Energy & Climate
Change (DECC)
Steven Fries is Chief Economist and Director of Analysis at the
UK Department of Energy & Climate Change and a member of
the Department’s executive committee. Prior to this, he was chief
economist for Royal Dutch Shell and held a series of senior positions
at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Dr Fries
began his career as an economist at the International Monetary Fund.

Chief Executive Officer, Oerlikon Natural Fibers, Oerlikon
Textile Components
Before taking on his current position, Georg Fronja had been with
Siemens since 1988, when he started as a management trainee.
Later he became Head of Controlling of the Corporate Units and
Chief Financial Officer for Siemens China, and finally Head of
Strategy in Siemens Energy.
VICTOR ZHIKAI GAO, ESQ.
Director, China National Association of International Studies
Victor Zhikai Gao is an Executive Director and Chairman of the
International Committee of Beijing Private Equity Association,
a Director of China National Association of International Studies,
and Vice Chairman of Sino Europe United Investment Corporation.
He is also a member of the Beijing Energy Club. Mr Gao was Deng
Xiaoping’s English interpreter and served as the China Policy Advisor
at the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission. He has held
senior positions with Morgan Stanley, CICC, Daiwa Securities
and CNOOC.
LINDA HELEN GIESEKE
Project Leader, The Boston Consulting Group (BCG)
Linda Helen Gieseke joined BCG in 2007 and has worked in the
group’s Berlin, Miami and Munich offices in the areas of pharma,
industrial goods, financial institutions, consumer goods and telco.
Prior to BCG, she worked for Capgemini UK and Tchibo Group
Paris. Ms Gieseke holds three diplomas in international business
administration from ESCP-EAP European School of Management
in Paris, London and Berlin.

Chief Executive Officer, AÇEV and Özyegin Foundation
Ayla Göksel is Chief Executive Officer of AÇEV, a Turkish NGO
working in early childhood, female literacy and parent training as well
as Chief Executive Officer of the Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation.
She is a Trustee of Ozyegin University and serves on the Boards of
the Education Reform Initiative and TOHUM Foundation for Autism.
Ms Göksel is also a Young Global Leader of the World Economic
Forum, a Senior Fellow of the Synergos Institute, a Qatar Foundation
WISE Laureate and a World Economic Forum Global Agenda

MALCOLM GOODERHAM
Managing Partner, TLG
Malcolm Gooderham is the Managing Partner at TLG, the Thought
Leadership content and communications consultancy. TLG is
headquartered in London with a network and clients in the United
States and the BRIC countries. He is a commentator and adviser to
senior executives on corporate leadership and reputation matters.
In 2012 he helped launch tlqmedia.com, publisher of TLQ, the digital
magazine for Thought Leaders. Malcolm was previously an Adviser to
the Conservative Party (UK) in government. JUDY GOWING
Symposium Office, Imperial College
Judy Gowing runs a small conference organising unit within Imperial
College London. The Symposium Office organises postgraduate
conferences for the medical profession, predominantly in paediatrics,
obstetrics and gynaecology. She is also active in a number of local
charities and usually finds time for a bit of exercise on the golf course.

SIR JEREMY GREENSTOCK
Chairman, Gatehouse Advisory Partners
Sir Jeremy Greenstock had his principal career with the British
Diplomatic Service, ending as UK Permanent Representative at the
United Nations in New York (1998–2003) and as the UK Special Envoy
for Iraq (September 2003–March 2004). From 2004 to 2010, Sir
Jeremy was Director of Ditchley, the international think-tank. He also
has corporate experience with BP and De La Rue and is currently
Chairman of Gatehouse Advisory Partners and Lambert Energy Advisory
as well as Special Adviser to the NGO Forward Thinking. TIINA HAKALA-ALA-PIETILÄ
MD (specialist in infertility), Felicitas Clinic, Helsinki
Tiina Hakala-Ala-Pietilä works as doctor in a pioneering infertility clinic
in Helsinki specialising in IVF treatments. Prior to this, she worked
at Helsinki University Central Hospital, both as a clinician and a
researcher. She has published studies on maternity care and pregnancy
risks and hereditary cancer. Ms Hakala-Ala-Pietilä is married and has
three children.

Partner, Bjerknes Wahl-Larsen
Cathrine Hambro is a partner in the law firm Bjerknes Wahl-Larsen,
with a particularly strong practice in environmental law and energy
law. In addition, she is a board member of several companies in the
environmental and energy sectors.

PHIL HARRISON MBE
Chief Operations Officer, Xyntéo
Phil Harrison MBE is responsible for the execution of The Performance
Theatre and has advised major companies from around the world in
his role as COO of Xyntéo. Mr Harrison previously worked for over
21 years in the financial sector and in consultancy, and is a fellow of the
Royal Geographical Society. He was awarded his MBE for his service
to scuba diving.
BJØRN KJ. HAUGLAND
Executive Vice President, Chief Technology & Sustainability
Officer, DNV Group
Bjørn Kj. Haugland is Executive Vice President and Chief Technology
& Sustainability Officer for DNV Group (Det Norske Veritas). He is
responsible for DNV’s research, innovation and platform technology
development, including group IT; oversees DNV’s sustainability
performance and drives company-wide sustainability initiatives.
Mr Haugland has extensive experience assisting multinational
companies with managing corporate responsibility and sustainability

Reza Kavosh is a Special Assistant and Advisor to Bawa Jain, the
Secretary General of the World Council of Religious Leaders of
the Millennium World Peace Summit who also became his mentor
in religious diplomacy. Mr Kavosh graduated from Razavi Islamic
Science University in Mashhad, Iran; studied Islamic Science in a
Hazwah (Islamic seminary); and has a master’s in peace, conflict and
development studies from UNESCO Chair of Philosophy for Peace

Temel Kotil started his career with Turkish Airlines in 2003 and

Maija Sozonoff is a Home Economics teacher from Helsinki University.
While living in the United States she continued with Master level

Ms Sozonoff is currently living in Helsinki as a full time grandmother.

Director of Arenas, Xyntéo
As Director of Arenas, Torunn Vigmostad Steinhaug is responsible
for Xyntéo’s wide range of events – from a suite of roundtables to
the annual Performance Theatre. She began her career at HewlettPackard, has extensive experience in the project development
and management of various events, including major conferences
and events hosted by governmental bodies and large international
companies. Ms Steinhaug played a key role in the delivery of the 1994

Patricia Swannell’s works are inspired by the beauty of nature and the

SHWAN IBRAHIM TAHA
Chairman, Rabee Securities
Shwan Ibrahim Taha has over 20 years’ experience managing money
in the MENA region, including Turkey, Greece and Pakistan. From
1997–2006, he worked for Franklin Templeton as part of Mark
Mobius’s emerging markets team. In 2006 Mr Taha joined a two-man
team co-managing a hedge fund funded and sponsored by George
Soros. He left the partnership to establish Melak investments, an
investment advisory firm focusing on opportunities in Iraq. Mr Taha
is also Chairman of Rabee Securities.
DR LARS TERENIUS
Founding Director of the Center for Molecular Medicine,
Karolinska Institute
A former professor at the Karolinska Institute, Lars Terenius has also
served as a long-standing member of the awarding body for the Nobel
Prize in medicine and was a Professor of Pharmacology at Uppsala
University. He is currently professor at the Department of Cellular
and Molecular Neuroscience at The Scripps Research Institute in
La Jolla, CA.

Gallery Owner
Mona Terenius owns and manages Kiva Gallery, a fine art gallery that
specialises in Native American art specifically from the south-western
United States. The gallery captures the Native culture at a time of
transition and translation and focuses on artwork which illuminates the
process of change from the usual Indian stereotype.

Partner and Co-founder, IARK
Heidi Tolo is partner and co-founder of IARK, a successful interior
architect company based in Norway. IARK specializes in designing
new work environments for bigger offices, challenging their clients to
change their ways of working by creating more flexible workspaces,
incorporating new technology and being more sustainable. Two of
Ms Tolo’s projects have been nominated for best design by Norwegian
design associations.
DR HANA TOTARY-JAIN
Associate Research Scientist, Columbia University
Hana Totary-Jain is Associate Research Scientist at Columbia
University in New York. She is the recipient of numerous awards from
the National Institute of Health, USA; The Council of Peripheral
Vascular Disease, American Heart Association; and the Ministry of
Health, Israel. Prior to coming to New York, Dr Totary-Jain completed
her PhD at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. She is fluent in
Arabic, Hebrew, English, Italian and some French.

Founder, Dreams Academy
Ercan Tutal decided to change his carrier when, after studying English
and Italian literature in Germany, he saw how well integrated disabled
people were in society. He returned to his country to dedicate his
life to solving the disability problem, one of the biggest problems
in Turkey. Mr Tutal is Founder and Chairman of Alternative Life
Association, Chairman of Besiktas City Council/Disability Branch
and Founder of Dreams Academy, an alternative art and music centre.

Board Member, Trendyol.com
Evren Ucok is an investor and Board Member of Trendyol.com,
Turkey’s leading fashion ecommerce site. He is a technology
investor focusing on Turkey and the surrounding region. Mr Ucok
has also invested successfully in gaming, research, health, travel and
education. Until recently, he was a Partner in Oliver Wyman, a leading
management consulting firm.

After serving as Creative Director for one of New York’s premier
event firms, Chisato Uno relocated to Shanghai and is designing on a
consultant basis in visual merchandising, graphics, events, stage and
screen. Past clients include Tiffany & Co., HBO/Cinemax, Harry
Winston and Lincoln Center. Ms Uno is also a Japanese-English
interpreter, specialising in film, art and food. Clients have included

KAROLINE VINSRYGG
Principal, Egon Zehnder International
Karoline Vinsrygg joined Egon Zehnder in London in 2011, where she
focuses on executive and board searches for industrial companies.
Before that, she was the head of business development and
strategy for Aker Yards/STX Europe, where she sat on the executive
board. Previously, she worked with M&A and investment banking
with Citigroup in New York and London. She started her career
with the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association. Ms Vinsrygg is a
Fulbright Scholar. DAVID WALKER
Chief Executive Officer, DNV KEMA Energy & Sustainability
David Walker has more than 30 years of international experience
covering the entire energy value chain. In June 2012, he was appointed
Chief Executive Officer of DNV KEMA Energy & Sustainability. Prior
to this, he was Chief Strategy Officer for the DNV Group and also
helped further develop its energy business. Mr Walker started his
career as a geologist for Amoco and later worked for BHP Billiton.
JANET WALKER
Janet Walker is an independent transport consultant closely involved
in environmental issues and how they affect transport. She has
participated in several visioning projects and has produced work for
the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT). Ms Walker was formative
in the DfT’s early policies on green issues.

Member of the board of directors for several companies
Thorhild Widvey, first elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1989 as
a member of the Conservative Party, served as State Secretary of the
Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs in 2002, before becoming
State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then Norway’s
Minister of Petroleum and Energy in 2004. She sits on the boards of
several companies, including Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, RXT ASA
Reservoir Exploration Technology, Nordic Mining ASA, Hitec AS,
ON S AS, NBT AS, and Eni Norge.
MEHMET ALI YALÇINDAĞ
Chairman, Yandex Turkey
Mehmet Ali Yalçındağ is Chairman of Yandex Turkey, the global
search engine. In 1996, he became Vice-Chairman of the Executive
Committee of Dogan Yayin Holding, and was later named Chairman.
After Dogan Yayin Holding and Dogan Holding merged and his wife
became the Chairperson of the group, he resigned as CEO of Dogan
Yayin but still serves as a Board Member of the Group. Mr Yalçındağ
is also President of the Turkish division the International Advertising
Association.

President and Chief Executive Officer, SOCAR Turkey Enerji A.Ş.
Kenan Yavuz has been President and Chief Executive Officer of
SOCAR Turkey Energy Inc. (STEAŞ) and a Board Member of Petkim
since 2009. He was also General Manager of Petkim between 2004
and 2009. He held various managerial positions at MAKO, a joint
venture between Koç Holding and Magneti Marelli, and was a member
of the Audit Committee at recently privatised Bursagaz. He sits on the
Board of the International Competitiveness Research Institute and the

Managing Director, Singapore Economic Development Board
Yeoh Keat Chuan joined the Singapore Economic Development
Board (EDB) as a Senior Officer in the Industry Development Division
(Chemicals) in 1994. Since then, he has held several director-level
positions and served as Assistant Managing Director before being
appointed Managing Director in July 2012. Mr Yeoh is a Glaxo-EDB
scholar and was a Sloan Fellow.

In addition to almost 30 years in journalism, Murat Yetkin has been
working for Hürriyet Daily News (HDN) since 2011. The Englishlanguage newspaper is regarded as a leading source of information for
Turkey and the region. Prior to joining HDN, he worked for Turkish
daily Radikal, also part of the Hürriyet Media Group, for 10 years as
the Ankara Bureau Chief and as a political columnist. Mr Yetkin is the
author of four books and is a member of the Eisenhower Fellowships.

Governor, Hiroshima Prefecture
Hidehiko Yuzaki assumed the governorship of Hiroshima in 2009. He
joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry after graduating
from Tokyo University in 1990. After leaving to to pursue studies in
business administration at Stanford University in 1993, he resigned
from the Ministry in 2000, and founded ACCA Networks.
