New Farmers Bank Debit Cards
Watch your mail for you new Farmers
Bank debit card. Keeping our customer’s
accounts and information secure is
our priority. In July we will be sending
a letter outlining the switchover to
new EMV chip cards. (EMV stands for
Europay, MasterCard and VISA, the three
companies that originally created the
standard.)
With the rising fraud cases across the United States, this is one way we reduce
those risks for our customers. New cards will arrive by August 1 but they cannot
be activated until August 8. (Your existing debit card will no longer work on
August 8th.)
If you have any questions about the new cards, please do not
hesitate to give us a call or stop by the bank.

Independence Day
Monday, July 4
Farmers Bank will be closed Monday, July 4th in observance
of the holiday. Independence Day of the United States, also
referred to as Fourth of July, is a federal holiday commemorating
the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4,
1776, by the Continental Congress declaring that the thirteen
American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the
United States of America, and no longer part of the British
Empire. This is a day that we have much to celebrate. It is a great
day for parades, barbecues, fireworks, fairs, picnics, concerts,
baseball games, family reunions and much more. Be sure to have
fun and be safe.
Red, White and Blue
Tuesday, July 12
The motor coach is full, and we’re headed to LeMars for a day
of entertainment and fun. We depart Spencer at 9:45 am from
the north end of Wal-Mart parking lot. Upon arrival, we will
enjoy a delicious noon meal of broasted chicken with all the
summertime fixings, and then walk a couple of blocks to the
Brown Theatre where the Brown family will perform Summertime
Celebration for us. You can’t visit LeMars without stopping at Wells
Blue Bunny for an ice cream treat, so that’s our last stop before
we head back to Spencer. This is sure to be a fun-filled day!
Stampin’ Up
Wednesday, July 13
Join us at Del’s Garden Center Design Studio for some stampin’
fun! Karen Schmidt, an independent demonstrator for 18 years,
will teach us how to make those beautiful hand-crafted greeting
cards we all love to receive. Karen will do one session in the
morning from 9:00 until 11:00 am and an afternoon session
from 1:00 until 3:00 pm. (Make your reservations early so you
get the session that best fits your schedule.) Cost is $12 for
Adventure Club members and $15 for non-members, due at
time of sign up. Each person will go home with three cards!
We need at least 6 people at each session and can have a

Rise Up, O Men
Thursday, October 13
You know the ladies…now meet the men! This new Church
Basement Ladies’ series features the men we have heard about
but have never seen. As these hard-working farmers discuss
their scrap lumber piles and the benefits of solder vs weld, they
unintentionally disrupt the order of the kitchen. But that’s what
happens when you let roosters in the hen house. Travel with us
to the Plymouth Playhouse in Plymouth, Minnesota for this funfilled, one-day trip.
Cost is $90 per person with a deposit of $20 due at time
of reservation. Cost includes motor coach transportation,
morning snack, noon meal, show ticket, driver tip and Farmers
Bank escort. Deadline is September 26. This trip is currently full,
but we always like names on the waiting list in case of last minute
cancellations.

Teresa Hansen, of Custom Tours by Teresa will be our host, and we
will be joining Central Bank to share in this Northwest Iowa Bank
Club trip to Branson, Missouri. Guests will enjoy the show Moses

Glory, SIX, an incredible show starring six brothers and a musical
tribute to John Denver.

of $150 per person is due at time of sign-up. Deadline is
September 29.
COMING IN 2017
NEW! Cruise to Cuba
January
Here is the perfect destination for a warm winter getaway!
Passengers will board the 700-passenger, 4-star cruise ship,
the Adonia, for a 9-day, round trip cruise to exotic Cuban ports
of call, including Santiago Du Cuba, Cienfuegos and Havana.
This is structured as a “people to people” tour and will explore the
rich culture and customs of Cuba by meeting many new friends
while touring the island! It will be a real learning experience for
everyone.
Prior to boarding the ship, we will set off on a guided tour of
Little Havana in Miami and spend the night at the Hilton Garden
Inn. Learn about traditional cigar making, Cuban coffee, visit the
Palace of Juices and explore Domino Park.
We will board the cruise ship late afternoon and sail to Santiago,
arriving the next day. Our first stop is historic San Juan Hill, the
location of one of the most famous battles in the SpanishAmerican War. A stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Centre site
is also on our itinerary.
The next city we visit is
Cienfuegos, a bustling little town
where travelers can get a feel for
what life is like in rural parts of
the island nation. The first stop
is at a ration store where we will
learn about their
currency system,
then shopping at a
local market followed
by a visit with some of
the locals in the town
square.
While at sea, the
Adonia offers incredible
amenities: Spanish class,
photography, workshops on the Cuban culture, or simply relax
and enjoy the sunshine and the sea breezes.
Our last port is Havana. A guide will join us to share the
highlights and history of the city. The roads are full of classic
American cars and are like a ride back in time. Tour the city with
a personal driver for a true person-to-person experience. Our last
day in Cuba starts out with a walking tour of Old Havana, where
you’ll get acquainted with a town that has excitement around
every corner. You will have a free evening here to explore on your
own or sign up for one of the optional evening excursions. It’s
time to set sail again and head back to the United States, full of
awesome memories and experiences.
Why travel to Cuba on the Adoina? Traveling by ship is safe and
can be more comfortable. There’s a variety of food available from
the galley; hot water and modern accommodations are provided
and reliable; and traveling by boat means less time on poor
roads, in coaches and airports. Medical facilities are also available
on board.
The final price is not available at this time. If you’re interested but
can’t make it to the travel show, give us a call, and we’ll mail you
an itinerary as soon as they’re ready.
