GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS,
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
HUMIDITY
A setting that is too humid or too dry could alter your kitchen.
Since wood is natural living matter, it can be especially affected
by such variations.
You should therefore try to achieve the correct degree of
humidity: from 40 to 70% humidity is optimal.
Make sure you air the kitchen regularly. In winter, hang air
humidifiers over radiators.

RECOMMENDATION CONCERNING
HEAT AND STEAM
UNITS
The frequent and prolonged build-up of steam (from the hob or
dishwasher) along with hot air (from the oven) could cause the
edges of units and fronts to peel off.
• When using the hob, and a few minutes before you start
cooking, make sure you turn the hood on, so as to remove any
steam.
• Always wipe off any water and condensation from the fronts
and sides of units.
• Remember to open your pressure cooker under the hood (in operation).
• Do not allow the steam and heat from small household appliances (microwave ovens, coffee machines, kettles or egg
cookers) to warp your units! The steam causes these units to dilate. When in use, always place any small household
appliances that create steam (such as coffee machines, etc.) at the front of the worktop.
• Always turn on the hood before you start cooking! General cleaning recommendations for worktops photos page 8

ADVICE & SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Our kitchens must be fitted by approved
fitters from our network.
• Electrical and sanitary equipment must be
fitted by qualified professionals.
• SCHMIDT kitchens are designed for use under normal conditions.
Any incorrect use leads to the risk of injury or property damage.
• Children should never climb on the units, drawers, worktops and
table, risk of falls and injuries.
• Never leave children unsupervised in the kitchen, as they could inadvertently turn electrical household appliances on.
• Never allow children or people to enter a unit, as the doors could close automatically.
• Do not hang from the wall units! These units could unhooked if overloaded. Do not handle the units as they could come
unhooked.
• Take care to cut off the electricity supply when replacing an electrical component or during a call-out by the after-sales
service or when cleaning an appliance.
CONCEPT OF LOADS FOR OUR PRODUCTS
The load that can be supported by unit bottoms and shelves is 65 kg/m2 in
accordance with safety standard EN 14749

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS, SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS •
THINK OF YOUR CHILDREN
As the heart of your home, the kitchen is the liveliest room where
your family gets together to share a meal or give your children a
snack. However, your kitchen is also a place for action, where you
peel, chop, cook, open and close drawers and doors repeatedly.
We test our products both in terms of safety and resistance.
We have devised some safety systems suited to our drawers, unit
doors and shelves, but your kitchen remains a fantastic place for
your children to explore.
It is the room where the most accidents occur statistically.
Some key points are worth your special attention:
• Always store cleaning products high up or under lock and key.
• Avoid falls, make sure that your children do not use doors and drawers as steps or swings.
• When cooking, always turn the handles of your pans towards the wall, out of children’s reach...

UNIT CARCASES AND OTHER MELAMINE,
LAMINATED OR POLYMER-COATED SURFACES
• Everyday cleaning: clean with soapy water, methylated spirit + water or washing-up liquid, rinse thoroughly and dry
with a soft cloth.
NEVER use:
- scouring products (powders or creams) and abrasive sponges
- thinners, such as: solvents, acetone, white-spirit, etc…
- silicone based cleaning products and paint restoration products (polish)
FRONTS
AND DECOR UNITS
SOLID WOOD OR WOOD VENEERED FRONTS AND DECOR UNITS
Wood is living matter distinguished by natural differences in colour and grain. The effect of light and sunrays leads to
normal discolouring which cannot be cause for complaint. Solid wood fronts are easy to care for. The surfaces are assembled using several layers of lacquer and a top quality varnish. Clean them using a slightly damp cloth, always following
the direction of the wood grain in order to clean all the pores. In order to remove any remaining humidity in the profiles,
corners and edges, wipe all fronts with a dry cloth. Avoid any spots or stains from drying by wiping them off immediately.
Again, avoid using cloths that are too wet.
!
Do not expose wood to air that is too humid or too dry. If you do, the wood could warp (dilate or shrink) despite the
lacquer and varnish applied with such great care. This is why it is vital that you turn the hood on when cooking and make
sure you air the room appropriately.
Ideal degree of humidity in a kitchen: between 40% and 70% After cooking, dry any wet surfaces to avoid any swelling.

FRONTS AND DECOR UNITS •
LACQUERED FASCIAS AND SURFACES (GLOSS, SATIN, MICRON,
MELAMINE, MATT VARNISHED MELAMINE, LAMINATED,
POLYCARBONATE)
These finishes are extremely easy to care for:
• for simple marks: wipe off with a soft cloth,
• for all stains (water, food, animal fat, vegetable grease - drinks...) one piece of advice: simply wipe off with a sponge,
some hot water and a little washing-up liquid, then dry with a soft cloth and that’s it !
!
Never dry clean lacquered and brilliant fronts! Using abrasive cleaning products (microfibre cloths, scouring pads,
etc....) could scratch the surfaces. Such scratches cannot be cause for complaints.
Everyday fine scratches visible under halogen lighting or in sunlight are the result of the polishing process used to provide
the brilliant finish and are not a surface fault.
• Everyday cleaning: use a soft cloth dipped in warm water. Dry off any traces of water using a soft cloth without rubbing.
• Greasy stains: water-based household cleaning product, washing-up liquid, glass cleaner or methylated spirit. Always
apply the product to a soft cloth before use. These marks are natural following normal use of the product, such as on
other shiny surfaces like a car.
STAINS ON VARNISHED AND LACQUERED WOOD
• Everyday cleaning: use a soft dry cloth or one dipped in warm water.
• Tough stains: use methylated spirit, then wipe with a damp cloth.
ENGLISH
Rub in the same direction as the wood grain.
Read the instructions before you start, always pour the cleaning product onto a cloth, never directly onto the stain. Test a
hidden part of the surface first. Only treat one material at a time and, if necessary, protect the others (gilt nails, fixings).
Dab a stain from the outside in to avoid it spreading.
Always use clean, lint-free cloths.
!
NEVER use:
- scouring products (powders or creams) and abrasive sponges
- thinners, such as: solvents, acetone, white-spirit, etc…
- silicone based cleaning products and paint restoration products (polish)
Note: since wood is natural living matter, differences in shade could appear over time,
due to the evolution of the colour of the wood exposed to UV (sun and moon rays).

• WORKTOPS
WORKTOPS
GENERAL CLEANING RECOMMENDATIONS
FOR ALL WORKTOPS
• Remember to dry your worktops after use. Remember to dry your worktops after use.
• Do not leave water to stagnate, especially in the assembly points of the worktops, on edgings and around sinks, hobs,
etc…
• Scale marks on the surface: you must immediately wipe off and
dry any residual water, droplets or liquid on the worktop.
• For structured worktops: use a stiff brush to clean this type
of structure.
The different acids used for remove limescale from coffee
machines could damage the worktop, so consumers should take
all the necessary precautions to protect the worktop during any
limescale removal procedures. Cooking vinegar does not stain.
!
Tip: To avoid any steam from forming under the worktop
when the dishwasher is in use, which could cause swelling, we
recommend you leave the appliance door closed for at least 30
minutes after the end of the wash cycle.
This type of damage is not covered by the warranty,
since the fitter installs steam protection for this very
purpose.
- Do not place hot saucepans or frying pans or any other hot
items directly on the worktop as this would cause direct damage.
This is why you must under all circumstances use hot pads.
- Do not chop directly on the worktop. Use a chopping board:
despite its resistance to scratches, it is the only way to avoid
worktop scratches altogether.
Brilliant and matt worktops catch the eye thanks to their surprising
aesthetical appeal. Nonetheless, keep in mind that marks are
more visible on this type of surface.
!
Take care when moving items or china, ceramic or terracotta
cookware as it could leave dull marks on the brilliant surface.
These marks are unavoidable and in no way impair the qualitative
properties or the use of the product.
Such marks will not be considered cause for complaint.
8
WORKTOPS •
Do not place any pans or dishes that have just come out of the oven or
off the hob directly onto the worktop, chopping board or resin sink: use
hot pads.
The worktops feature a limited resistance to heat: laminated worktops
could incur irreparable damage when exposed to temperatures of more
than 180°C.
For instance, the bottom of a saucepan used to boil water exceeds 250°C.
WORKTOPS OTHER THAN LAMINATE
RESIN WORKTOPS
!
Made of synthetic materials, these worktops offer the added advantage of being perfectly waterproof with a built-in
bowl. They are easy to clean, using soapy water or alcohol-based cleaning product (glass cleaner).
Please refer to the worktop maintenance guide.
Beware of lipstick and nail varnish stains which can only be removed using thinner or acetone. In any case, rinse
thoroughly with water immediately after applying.
OILED SOLID WOOD WORKTOPS
ENGLISH
!
Oiled solid wood is living matter, extremely durable, provided some basic maintenance steps are taken. A maintenance
and touch-up kit was supplied with your purchase.
For a replacement, please contact your nearest SCHMIDT Advice center. Take care not to allow liquids (water, wine, etc.)
to stagnate on the worktop: it could be deeply stained. However, should your worktop get stained, the great advantage
of having an oiled solid wood worktop is that it can easily be touched up: stains can be removed by sanding, then simply
re-apply a layer of oil onto the damaged area.
Refer to the user guide supplied with the worktop. Contact your advice centre.
NEVER use:
- exotic wood care products generally available on the market: risk of incompatibility and non-conformity of the colour.
- furniture wax
- vegetable cooking oils
- silicone-based products
GRANITE WORKTOPS AND CHOPPING BOARDS
Granite is a very dense non-absorbing stone. Consequently, it does not allow any liquids to seep into it. For a brilliant
polished finish granite, clean with a soft cloth and some water or glass cleaner. Only a diamond or another piece of granite
can scratch granite. If this occurs, professional repolishing will be required.
Refer to the user guide supplied with the worktop. Contact your advice centre.
CERAMIC WORKTOPS
Ceramic is extremely resistant to typical impacts, scratches and heat. Do not use a ceramic knife directly on the
worktop.
Ceramic is dry heat-resistant to 180°C. Ceramic is naturally resistant to water and various liquids, which can be
improved even further by applying a food-grade water-repellent coating at the factory.
It is important to avoid leaving residual grease and other products that could penetrate deeply into
the stone’s pores.
That is why regular cleaning is recommended. A damp sponge with some washing-up liquid will suffice in most cases.
Clean your worktop immediately after use. You can also use the Briotop product.

• WORKTOPS
STAINLESS STEEL WORKTOPS
Remove all normal dirt using an everyday cleaning product such as methylated spirit or soapy water. Then rinse with hot
water and rub dry. In the event of tough dirt spots and water stains which are difficult to remove, we recommend you
use a special stainless steel care product. This type of product provides additional protection thanks to a water-resistant
protective film.
Please refer to the maintenance guide and product supplied with your worktop.
Everyday cleaning: water + washing-up liquid, or methylated spirit. Rinse with hot water and dry.
Tough stains: special stainless steel care product.
!
NEVER use: All types of abrasive or scouring products
QUARTZ WORKTOPS
Quartz-based materials are inherently beautiful and easy to clean, while offering a long-lasting hygienic surface.
Their easy-cleaning properties can be explained by the combination of 93% natural quartz crystals with polymers, giving
materials a perfectly smooth, non-porous surface that easily shrugs off dirt.
Oil, wine, vinegar, tea, coffee, lemon juice, fruit juice and vegetable juice are just some of the substances that can be
cleaned without any particular difficulties. The simplest method is to wipe any fresh marks with a damp cloth. A washing-up
liquid solution is sufficient for everyday cleaning. You are advised to clean any dirty marks within 24 hours.
If the mark is dried on and hardened, a drop of vinegar in some water or an off-the-shelf vinegar-based detergent will, in
most cases, solve the problem, but the Briotop product can also be used. Apply with a metal-free Scotch Brite® sponge.
Applying gentle pressure, clean the mark in a circular motion over a wide area. For the most stubborn stains, try with
some methylated spirits or acetone.
Then rinse the surface thoroughly with fresh water and dry (repeat the procedure if necessary).
With close to 93% natural quartz, the material boasts excellent scratchproof performance. When cutting or chopping
food, we would recommend the use of a chopping board.
GLASS SURFACES: DOORS, WORKTOPS,
COUNTERTOPS, GLASS SHELVES, MIRRORS
!
10
Glass is a high-performance and durable material, provided you keep to a few rules based on common sense:
• Make sure the unit is firmly wedged to the floor (as it affects the door adjustments)
• From time to time, check that all fixings, apertures, runners, securing profiles, handles, attachment brackets, etc. are
securely in place,
• Observe the maximum recommended loads for the shelves, and check the stability of their supports,
• Handle doors gently: do not throw them open, do not hold them as they finish opening do not slam them shut,
• When the doors are open, do not lean on them or hang onto them to help yourself up,
• Never allow the glass surface to get near to or indeed touch a naked flame, or a hot or burning item,
• Do not rub the glass surface with metallic objects, ceramic pots or with the back of your hand if you are wearing a ring
(diamonds scratch glass),
• Clean with soap (never use abrasive powder)
• In the event of a chipped edge, a shard due to impact or a scratch, the glass could break unexpectedly from that point,
even long after the initial event: ask your sales representative for a replacement.
• In the event of breakage, ask your sales representative for a
replacement.
• Everyday cleaning: Glass cleaning products readily available on
the market, to be used with a soft cloth or kitchen towels.
Do not use any of the following for printed, lacquered and
sanded glass: all types of abrasive products, abrasive creams,
alcohol, stain removers and thinners.
Mirrors must not be cleaned with acetone.
TABLES AND CHAIRS •
TABLES
AND CHAIRS
The tables and chairs are made of wood, depending on the model, and you will find all the relevant maintenance tips on the
previous pages of this guide.

SINK - TAPS
Since sinks are one of the most frequently and widely used items in the kitchen, they receive and carry away a large
amount of dirt every day, meaning a lot of bacteria. Sinks need to be cleaned on a daily basis, i.e. after each use to
prevent them from becoming clogged up. Make sure that you follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
SYNTHETIC SINKS
Scale is the biggest enemy. To prevent scale from forming in the bowls, we would advise you to clean the sink with soapy
water after each use. If the scale remains, use table vinegar.
Scale removal should be performed once a week, depending on the area (very hard water encourages scale to build up at
the bottom of bowls receiving liquids like coffee and tea, which gives the impression that the sink is stained).
Allow the vinegar to act for 20 minutes and then rinse with fresh water.
If your sink has metal abrasions (caused by saucepan bases, lids, etc.), clean with a conventional scouring cream and a
sponge. Rinse with fresh water.
For stubborn liquid stains (tea, fruit juice, certain wines…), use a conventional scouring cream and rinse with fresh water.
For other stains, such as those left by certain types of paint, ink, and so on, use a cloth soaked in alcohol. Finally, if there
are any stains that refuse to budge or in case of a major scale build-up in the sink, you must use an oxygen-rich product,
such as baking powder.
Dilute 10 spoonfuls of baking powder in 3 litres of water, pour in the sink and leave to act all night.
!
NEVER use:
All types of abrasive and scouring products and pads, which could scratch the sink. Avoid caustic soda and ammonia.Do
not place hot objects on the draining board, and avoid using the draining board as a worktop. Do not place saucepans
that have just come off the cooker (max 180°C) on resin sinks. For further information, refer to the manufacturer’s
instructions. Make sure that you follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
STAINLESS STEEL SINKS
Highly sensitive to limescale, so we recommend you treat them regularly with a non-abrasive product. A clay-based
cleaner is recommended for sinks.
!
Attention : Bleach or limescale-removal products readily available on the market can cause corrosion pits in your sink.
To remove limescale, we recommend you use hot vinegar. Leave vinegar on for 20 minutes and rinse with clean water.
!
NEVER use : All types of abrasive and scouring products and pads, which could scratch the sink. Do not use chlorine,
do not leave wet metal objects in the sink to prevent any risk of oxidisation. Make sure that you follow the manufacturer’s
instructions for any household appliances.
CERAMIC SINKS
Ceramic sinks are easy to clean with a sponge and some soapy water or ordinary cleaning product.
!
NEVER use:
- limescale-removal products
- soda-based products, hydrochloric acid, citric acid, formic acid, or hydrofluoric acid based products and their
derivatives such as rust-removal products.
Please see the manufacturer’s instructions for all further information.
12
SINKS, HOBS, EXTRACTOR HOODS, OTHER COMPONENTS, HANDLES, HINGES, STRUTS… •
TO PREVENT SCALE PROBLEMS
Cleaning must be carried out on a regular basis as follows:
• Everyday cleaning: to keep taps beautiful and in perfect
condition for as long as possible, they should ideally be cleaned
after each use.
!
Caution: especially do not use products containing ammonia,
acetate or corrosive substances: a sponge and fresh water will
suffice.
For deeper cleaning of taps (residual marks or scale): use a soft
sponge with soap, rinse and then finish with a cloth to restore
their sparkle. A special product for chrome will respect the beauty
of chrome or gold-plated taps. Boiled white vinegar with some
added water can also be used (allow the vinegar to act for 20
minutes and then rinse with fresh water).
• Clean the aerator: remove the aerator using a spanner or
adjustable pliers. Place a cloth between the metal and the pliers
to avoid scratching the chrome. Finally, remove the aerator from
the housing and soak in hot spirit vinegar to clean it.
Descale the aerator regularly.
Avoid: all types of abrasive and scouring products, which could
scratch the appliance.
ENGLISH
!
PROBLEM & SOLUTION:
A. Repairing a dripping and leaking tap
If water is not flowing properly from your tap, simply clean the
aerator, because it is blocked with scale.
To clean the aerator, use a descaling product or hot spirit vinegar.
Impurities may block the mixer tap when pressurising the water
system (especially in case of a new build or renovation). This may
prevent the mixer tap from functioning properly and cause a leak,
in which case the mixer tap and its cartridge must be dismantled,
cleaned and reassembled.
B. Repairing a dripping mixer tap
Dripping mixer taps are often due to the “ceramic” cartridge being clogged with scale. Simply replace the cartridge. The process
is quick and simple: refer to the guide for your mixer tap. Contact
the SCHMIDT advice centre.

• SINKS, HOBS, EXTRACTOR HOODS, OTHER COMPONENTS, HANDLES, HINGES, STRUTS…
HOB GLASS CERAMIC, INDUCTION AND GAS
Make sure you never allow sugar or other sweet recipes (such
as jam) to burn on the hob surface! If this does occur, always
wipe off any traces using a damp cloth, without any cleaning
products.
To remove the most significant dirt spots, such as limescale,
water stains and marks made by the brilliant metallic finish on
pots and pans, use a stainless steel cleaning product or special
hob cleaning products. Remove encrusted residue when the hob
is still hot using a razor blade scraper.
Please see the manufacturer’s instructions for all further information.
EXTRACTOR HOOD
Wash the metal grease filter(s) in the sink with washing-up liquid regularly. If the hood is fitted in recycling mode, it does not
vent to the outside. It should therefore be fitted with an activated
charcoal filter in addition to the grease filter. This filter must be
replaced on a regular basis for optimal efficiency.
Unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer, we advise against
washing it in the dishwasher as the temperature and aggressiveness of the cleaning products could lead to a change in the colour
of the aluminium filters.
Please see the manufacturer’s instructions for all further information.
OVEN / DISHWASHER
When fitting the dishwasher, you must install a vapour barrier.
Avoid leaving the oven or dishwasher door ajar to cool it down.
After using your dishwasher or your oven’s pyrolytic self-cleaning
feature, allow to cool for at least 30 minutes before opening. The
heat or humidity could damage the adjacent units.
When cleaning and using different household appliances, refer to
the manufacturer’s instructions.

HINGES AND SPRING BRACKETS
The hinges and spring brackets, especially the hinges on doors
which are handled frequently, should be oiled once or twice a year.
This also applies to other metallic hinging fixings.
Moving plastic parts do not require any maintenance.
Hinges must ensure customer satisfaction throughout the unit’s
service life. For easy cleaning, follow the tips
below:
• Wipe with a lint-free soft cloth, chamois leather or sponge.
• Use a cloth that is slightly damp, not wet.
• Always dry with a cloth.
• Use a special cleaning product for such materials as leather and
stainless steel. Otherwise, clean only with fresh water.
• Immediately remove any dirty marks as soon as they appear.
