A l l t h r e e n a t i o n a l Networks had t h e i r s t a r and s u p e r s t a r n e w s c a s t e r s
c o v e r i n g t h e s e major c o n v e n t i o n s .
The c o n v e n t i o n h a l l s w e r e d e c o r a t e d i n b r i g h t c o l o r s w i t h r e d , w h i t e

"dump C a r t e r , " t h e P r e s i d e n t had gone o v e r t h e t o p on t h e f i r s t b a l l o t .
The P r e s i d e n t h a d n o t a c c e p t e d w i t h o u t a n y p e r s o n a l r e s e r v a t i o n Mr. Kenn e d y ' s m u c h - i n s i s t e d on p l a n k f o r s p e n d i n g 1 2 b i l l i o n d o l l a r s i m m e d i a t e l y
t o ease unemployment. M r . C a r t e r g o t word t o t h e c o n v e n t i o n he w a s f o r
t h e same g o a l , b u t had p e r s o n a l r e s e r v a t i o n s a s t o t h e S e n a t o r ' s method.
