2013
Aruba will host the first electronic music conference and events
platform in the Latin American and Caribbean region – the Electric Festival. EF will launch during a three day event in September 2013. The first edition of EF will be held in the summer of
2014.
EF is to become a global and annual music, arts and lifestyle
playground welcoming all electronic music lovers and artists to
the beautiful island and beaches of Aruba. EF will showcase exhibitions, events, workshops, conferences and parties.
Being a Dutch island, Aruba benefits strongly from the synergies and ties with the EDM industry in the Netherlands. Aruba is
a contender to become one of the leading EDM destinations in
the Latin ­A merican and Caribbean region. In June 2012, Aruba
resident and Forbes World’s ­G reatest DJs listed DJ and music
producer ­C huckie celebrated his birthday in Aruba in what became an event with thousands of guests, drawing a varied array of
international stars including the likes of Akon, Jasmine Villegas,
Robin van Persie and Dirk Kuyt. This event confirmed that Aruba
is well on the way to becoming a prominent EDM destination in
the region.

Located 15 miles north of Venezuela in the warm waters of the
southern Caribbean, Aruba is home to beautiful white-sand beaches, 82-degree days, and some of the warmest people in the world.
Our island is 19.6 miles long and 6 miles across, with a total
area of 70 square miles. We’re located just below the hurricane
belt, and unlike many islands in the Caribbean, our climate is
dry, so we rarely have a rainy day. On the south and west coasts
of Aruba, you’ll find Oranjestad, our capital city, and miles of
beaches that have been named some of the best in the world.
Here, you’ll find most of the hotels and all-inclusive resorts
in Aruba and Queen Beatrix International Airport. In the interior of the island, you’ll find Arikok National Park, a desert like preserve with a variety of wildlife, cacti and dramatic
rock formations. You’ll also find some of Aruba’s most striking
views, as the ocean crashes against the rugged shoreline below.
On the northeast coast, along the windward shore, you’ll see our
island’s unofficial mascots, the fofoti trees.
The constant trade winds have permanently sculpted them into
graceful, southwesterly bending forms.
Play foundation
Play Foundation is an Aruban foundation that has been created
with the purpose of bringing the youth closer to their love of music and creative arts. Play Foundation will reach its goal by giving
back to the community and the world. Play Foundation will be
founded on sustainability, making real change possible.
Play Foundation’s first big music event - Solarbeats - will take
place during EF. During Solarbeats, Play Foundation will present
a very special gift of sustainable energy, namely solar panels, to
the first school in Aruba. This mission is to have all 84 schools
in Aruba be powered by solar panels by 2020. Play Foundation
will continue to organize events, also with other stakeholders, to
raise funds for Solarbeats.
