At a dairy and arable farm in Den Bommel (NL), biomethane is produced and delivered to the
natural gas network. In the Microferm digestion plant built by HoSt, 8.000 tonnes of cattle
manure is digested annually. The produced biogas is upgraded to natural gas quality and then fed
into the natural gas network. The amount of produced natural gas is 180,000 Nm3 annually, which
is equivalent to the consumption of 125 households.
It is the first plant in the Netherlands where 100% manure is digested in combination with the
production of biomethane on this scale. The plant consist of a Microferm digestion tank, a gas
tight after-storage, a container with the biogas upgrading and control panel, and a skid on which
the biogas treatment, manure heat exchanger, and heat pump are mounted.
