Along with solvent-based products, high performance water-based enamels and wood stains are
also available. The first water-based enamels were
developed by Caparol as long ago as the '70s and
are still being optimised today.
Although solvent-based enamels are still very popular amongst professional
workers, "water-based enamels" have become increasingly important in
recent years. The reason is the generally increased environmental and
health awareness and the resulting legislation, such as for example the VOC
Decopaint Directive. This has resulted in significant progress in development.
For example, Caparol now offers water-based enamels which stand up to

Wood stains are coloured and transparent coating materials which decoratively highlight the grain in the wood surface. The decorative variation now
extends in modern and traditional wood architecture from the classical
natural wood shades through very colourful to silvery glossy wood stains in
fine grey shades. Here, the natural appeal of the wood should always be
visible. With new wood stains and colourshades in the "Naturally inspired"
collection Caparol has opened up new possibilities in modern wood surface
decoration.
Along with the decoration, the protection of the wood is very important. The
wood stain system must consequently protect the wood surface also from
UV radiation, moisture and fungal attack. Caparol has been developing and
producing wood stains for the professional sector in Austria and Germany
since the '60s, also for well-known prefabricated house manufacturers. All
wood stains from Caparol reliably protect the wood from the effects of the

The complete wood stain range offers optimum protection, various colourshades and decorative options.
This is because all Capadur products are not just available in current colours such as pine or nut brown.
Many of these products can also be tinted in various colours using the ColorExpress equipment.
So there is nothing to stop individual decoration and optimum protection of the wood surface using
the most attractive colourshades.
Before market launch all wood stains are subjected to stringent tests in the laboratory and on the weather
exposure site as well as extensive field trials under practical conditions with selected painters. As a result, trade
dealers and painters can rest assured that with the Capadur range they are using a dependable quality product
for their wooden structures.

Naturalness rich in nuances
Natural grey wooden shades are very much in demand. Reproduction of the natural process is however
extremely complex. Therefore, currently available pigmentation does not supply a satisfactory result when the
intention is to copy the various, living effects of naturally greyed wood produced in Nature by the sun's rays.
To capture this vividness of the wooden surface as closely as possible while preserving its absolutely
natural charisma, we use special effect pigments for GreyWood. The name GreyWood signifies a silver-grey
colour in various shades: pure grey with blue, yellow, red and green shades.
A soft touch of red suffices to bring warmth to the greyness; blue has a cool, respectively green a fresh effect.
Here, at first glance the difference may be so slight that the samples must be placed next to one another to
detect the difference. The emotional effect achieved with each grey shade is however different, because the
slightest colour nuances here produce a extraordinary and visually attractive change.
