From the Director
Dear Friends and Members:
I would like to personally welcome you all to the 29th season of San Francisco Bay Area guitar
concerts! Each year we strive to bring you a diverse mix of the finest classical and acoustic guitarists in the world and this season we have scheduled 11 performances featuring 15 extraordinary artists. Four of our programs will take place in the beautiful Herbst Theatre. Those concerts will feature guitar legend Pepe Romero, who will honor his homeland with a program of
Spanish masterpieces. Also at the Herbst will be the brilliant Chinese guitarist Xuefei Yang,
Czech virtuoso Pavel Steidl and the great Manuel Barrueco who will bring the Beijing Duo along
with him. Kazuhito Yamashita will perform his transcriptions of J. S. Bach at the San Francisco
Conservatory’s gorgeous new Concert Hall. We will have two evenings in the Mission District at
the Brava Theater with French maestro Roland Dyens and a phenomenal talent from Brazil,
Marcus Tardelli. Carlos Oliveira and Ricardo Peixoto will share the evening with Marcus. We
will present two San Francisco debuts in the Green Room, the fantastic Eden-Stell Duo from the
UK and emerging star, Gabriel Bianco from France.
Tommy Emmanuel will return for two evenings at the Palace of Fine Arts. Tommy’s show is
spectacular and his huge talent deserves to be experienced. One night is not enough to accommodate his fans. Get your tickets early for this one!
