As NetJets celebrates our 25th anniversary,
so does pilot Robert “Buz” Perry who has been
with the company every step of the way. One
of NetJets’ earliest employees, his exceptional
career stands as an emblematic timeline,
illustrating not only the heritage of the company,
but of private aviation in general.

Buckeye at heart
As a proud Columbus, Ohio, native and avid pilot, it was only fitting that Perry
ended up at an aviation company close to home. And while his 25-year tenure at
NetJets has afforded him the enviable opportunity to fly all over the globe,
transporting VIPs from rock stars to royalty, he is proud of his Central Ohio roots.
Perry completed Private Pilot ground school at a suburban Columbus high
school, got his pilot license in 1972 down the road at The Ohio State University,
and learned airplane mechanics across town at Columbus State. He built flight
time over the next decade as a local traffic report pilot and then as a co-pilot
for a regional commercial airline, before flying for the Department of Natural
Resources. He also logged time with a small charter operator before being offered
a co-pilot job at what was then called Executive Jet Aviation (NetJets’
predecessor) in 1986. That day is memorable for Perry in more ways than one.
“The day that I learned I had been hired to work for Executive Jet was a very
special day in my life,” he confesses. “Not only was I going to be part of a
fabulous company that everyone in aviation was talking about, but also I asked a
very special young woman to marry me.”

As an early player in the budding company (he’s now number one on the pilot
seniority list), Perry has served a key role in developing NetJets programs and
fleet, flying everything from Citations to Hawkers to Falcons. He eventually
worked his way up to Senior Captain aboard the commercial-airframe Boeing
Business Jet, the erstwhile NetJets flagship, for 10 years. Today, he flies the
Citation Sovereign. But despite the shifting demands of piloting so many types
of aircraft, the biggest changes he faced during his career were changes
endemic to the very heart of NetJets.
“During the last 25 years of operation is when the concept of ‘fractional
ownership’ was born,” Perry says. “This exciting and innovative introduction into
the arena of private jet ownership opened a new business opportunity and
provided jet access to an entirely new kind of client. The need and desire was
always there, but management’s vision to answer those needs provided a new
legacy for the company.”
So, in a company that has both witnessed and fostered so much change in the
past quarter century, what hasn’t changed? “The one thing that NetJets will
not compromise on is the training of its flight crews,” he tells us. “Safety for
the crews and clients is and always has been the number one concern–that
will never change. This safety focus also enhances the feeling of the ‘NetJets
family’ concept: our memos refer to everyone as the ‘NetJets family.’ That
stance is clearly felt throughout every level of our business.”
“An honor” to work for NetJets
While Perry remains a humble, hard-working pilot, his duties have allowed him to
visit far-off lands. He’s volunteered for numerous special assignments, spending
a month in China, six weeks in Saudi Arabia and working with NBC’s Today
Show in 2009 for the popular “Where in the World is Matt Lauer” segments.
But Perry’s globetrotting career hasn’t given him a big head: “I consider it an
honor and I have always been very proud to say ‘I work for NetJets.’ To think
that I may have contributed to the heritage of this prestigious global aviation
company is sometimes overwhelming for me. I just love being a pilot.”

Refreshing and Refurbishing
NetJets is in the process of updating the interior design on all aircraft
In May 2011, NetJets Maintenance launched an initiative
to modernize the cabin décor with new colors and fabrics
across the entire fleet. While many of the updates are subtle,
they will provide you and your guests with a more modern,
luxurious cabin atmosphere. In addition, they will enhance
durability so that your jet stays cleaner and has a fresh look
every time you board.
Rest assured that the interior updates are being done during
scheduled maintenance down times, so NetJets will continue
to meet your flying needs in the same way we always do.
The entire fleet refurbishment project is scheduled to be
completed in 2013.
Carpeting
The new carpeting is made from 100% New Zealand wool in combinations of
loop pile effects with cut pile accents in coordinating colors, and represents
the biggest visual change within each jet fleet.
Cabin Seating
The leather is being replaced with new seat base colors to modernize the interiors
with a sleeker look that beautifully correlates to the new carpet coloring.
Fabrics
New side wall paneling and headliners coordinate with the carpet and leather
selections, both in color and pattern. We’re creating color intensity in the cabin
by installing slightly darker fabrics in the lower side panel area of the aircraft,
and contrasting it with a brighter upper part of the cabin.

The “Espresso Collection” features dark brown hues in the carpet yarns, with
plaid accents throughout the cabin.

The “Tan Pinwheel Collection” includes a light headliner to brighten the
appearance of the cabin and moderately darker hues in the carpet yarns to
offset the light seat leather color.
Wi-Fi Update
As announced in the Summer 2010 issue of NetJets Update, we are
retrofitting 250 midsize and large cabin aircraft with Wi-Fi capability.
We are pleased to report that over 150* aircraft in the NetJets fleet
are now equipped with Wi-Fi, and we are on target to complete the
project by September 2012.
Citation X
The “Multisquares Collection” blends light and dark neutral colors, with a
classic plaid motif throughout.
If you fly on an aircraft with Wi-Fi capability, you should see a “Wi-Fi”
placard inside the cabin, and the crew will also inform you once you
have boarded. You will be able to access the Internet on any Wi-Fi
equipped laptop, notebook computer, or other personal electronic
device at speeds similar to that of wireless mobile broadband on the
ground.
Owners have reported that they “loved having Wi-Fi onboard” and that
“Wi-Fi was great and made the flight enjoyable.” Another commented,
“What a wonderful addition to the aircraft.”
Though you cannot request a Wi-Fi equipped aircraft at this time,
please note that all future aircraft delivered to NetJets – including
light cabin – will have Wi-Fi capability. The coverage area currently
consists of the continental United States, with expansion planned for
Canada and Mexico.

Enhancing your netjets
Catering
NetJets is rolling out a new menu for inflight dining starting with the caterers
serving the major markets most frequently used by NetJets Owners and
Marquis Jet Card Owners.
The new menu delivers upgraded quality specifications on existing items –
including shrimp, crab, smoked salmon, antipasto, chicken, and beef – and
savory new options – including an elegant artisan cheese tray, a Mezze tray,
and tea sandwiches. You will notice not just an increase in quality, but also a
consistent and cohesive presentation regardless of the caterer, portion sizes
for tray items better aligned with the number of passengers onboard each
flight, and sleek new packaging.
The rollout began in June 2011 with caterers in South Florida covering airports
in Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami. In August, the New York and
Washington, D.C. markets were added. By the end of October, the new menu
will be in place in San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Ana, Monterey, and the Bay
Area as well as Boston, Chicago, Dallas, and Denver.
NetJets extensively researched new catering service options, and the early
reviews – as reported to crewmembers and Owner Services by Owners – are
very positive. We will continue to roll out the new menu to additional caterers
throughout the country this fall and, by the end of 2012, it will be present in
more than 50 markets, covering 65% of NetJets catering orders. We will
continue to tweak the menu as appropriate based on Owner feedback.

Onboard Amenities
If you’ve flown on a NetJets aircraft recently, you may have noticed and enjoyed
the new onboard snack selection and other onboard amenities. After reviewing
multiple product presentations and offerings – 50 for the snacks alone – and
feedback from Owners, Pilots, Flight Attendants, In-Flight Management, Owner
Services, the Catering department, and the Executive Management Team, we
made the final selections and then worked with our suppliers to have the new
items delivered to our lockers positioned throughout the country so that our
crews could stock them onboard NetJets aircraft for your enjoyment.
Snacks
Joining our most popular snacks – including Pringles, Oreos, NuGo bars,
Tootsie Rolls, Dots, Wrigley’s gum, and Werther’s hard candy – are a number
of tasty new items that debuted on NetJets aircraft in June.

We continue to offer a selection of wines for each season. The wines are
provided by Zachy’s with the experts at Wine Spectator providing us with
feedback on the potential selections prior to the final selections being made.
Soap/Lotion
We upgraded the selection of hand lotion and soap on all NetJets aircraft that
have a sink to Verbena scent products from L’Occitane. The new soaps and
lotions debuted on NetJets aircraft in July. Note that the Citation Encore+/
Encore and the Hawker 400XP do not have sinks; instead of hand lotion and
soap, moist towelettes are onboard these aircraft types.
Blankets
New luxurious MicroModal blankets from Glen Saxon are now available on
large cabin aircraft. The blankets are larger and can be used as a throw or for
use while sleeping.
Medicine Shortage Advisory
Our supplier notified NetJets that Johnson & Johnson temporarily halted
production of individual packs of Imodium and Benadryl. We are currently
out of stock in some locations, but both medications should be back
aboard NetJets aircraft by October 2011. In the meantime, we are
working with several suppliers to procure alternate products. Note that
the stop in production also affected the Tylenol and Advil supply over
the summer, but the standard supply of these items has been restored.

Trouble in Paradise
Like so many NetJets Owners, real estate developer Sal Ciminello and his family enjoy the
occasional vacation getaway to a tropical paradise. However, on a recent trip to the Bahamas
when something went wrong so far from home, he was never so glad to have the NetJets
advantages of response, expertise, and unparalleled customer dedication on his side.

NetJets: How long have you and your family used NetJets?
Sal Ciminello: We’ve been able to access the NetJets fleet through a
family share arrangement since 2006 and fly in the Gulfstream GIV and Citation
Sovereign. Our business is commercial real estate, mainly in the New York
area. We use the shares for business and occasionally for leisure travel, and
we always enjoy the convenience.
NJ: One recent trip ran into a snag though?
SC: Yes. My family and I were enjoying a trip to the Bahamas. Now, my wife
and I are pretty protective parents – especially of our five-year-old daughter
– and usually don’t let the kids participate in the “kids clubs” run by so many
high-end resorts; we prefer to keep them with us. But the club was planning
a special “Willy Wonka” night for the kids, and they were begging to go, so we
let them.
NJ: Sounds innocent enough. What happened?
SC: Well, my wife and I planned our own private dinner while the kids were
away. Early in the evening, I got a call from the Kids Club. My daughter “had
a splinter” and was upset. Could I come down and get her? It sounded like no
big deal so I made arrangements to leave the meal, but soon got another call
from the Kids Club asking me to hurry up. I started realizing this wasn’t just
some little boo-boo.
NJ: What happened when you got to your daughter?
SC: Hotel security and an ambulance were on the scene. The “splinter” was
actually a wooden skewer that pierced through the webbing between my
daughter’s toes and deep into her foot. Apparently “Willy Wonka” night involved
making s’mores, and a skewer got lost in the sand and found its way five inches
into my daughter’s foot. It was a difficult injury to treat, and we were getting
panicky about what to do.
NJ: Was there any onsite medical help?
SC: Yes, but because of the severity we were taken to the local hospital, but I
have to say they seemed a lot more concerned about getting the bill paid than
about helping my daughter. My gut feeling about all this just got worse and
worse; I decided to call NetJets for help.
NJ: How did that go?
SC: Well, in addition to having an injured daughter, a less than responsive
hotel staff, and a shady hospital to worry about, the phone lines were down in
the Bahamas. I was initially communicating with our NetJets Owner Services
Team member, Keith Turnock, via email from the hospital.
A real “Murphy’s Law” situation?
SC: Yes, everything that could go wrong was going wrong. Except the NetJets
part of it. Keith was able to patch into a dedicated phone line between the
resort’s Florida sales office and the island so we could communicate better

with my wife (who was still at the hotel with the rest of my family) and to let
them know what was happening. NetJets located the nearest possible plane
we could use, contacted the pilots (who were off-shift and on their way to their
hotel) and had them U-turn back to the airport, contacted Mayo Clinic Executive
Travel Response for a close U.S. hospital recommendation, arranged for late
customs for us back in the U.S., ground transportation to the hospital… it was
just incredible.
NJ: Had you ever used NetJets for medical reasons before?
SC: No, we were pretty normal clients in this respect, I think. This was the first
time we ever really needed a lot of help from NetJets for any reason, and they
delivered 200%. I was, of course, aware of the relationship between NetJets
and the Mayo Clinic but had never had reason to use the service. My intention
was to fly my daughter back to New York and get her to a hospital there. Mayo
recommended Miami Children’s Hospital, which was not only closer, but turned
out to be an excellent choice. I’d go out of my way to go back there if my kids
needed medical attention. Needless to say, Amanda got terrific treatment and
is just fine.
NJ: So how long did this adventure take?
SC: I got the first call from the Kids Club at about 8:20 p.m. I called NetJets
at 9:00 p.m., and they brought a Citation X (the fastest jet in the fleet) over and
we took off at about 12:20 a.m. There is just no way this could have happened
so successfully without NetJets. Commercial flights? Forget it, we wouldn’t
have gotten out until the next day. And without access to a large fleet, it would
have been sheer luck to find a jet nearby. On top of that, NetJets followed up
after the fact. They made several calls to check on Amanda and they sent
flowers. There are a lot of ways to get into a private jet these days, but it’s this
kind of going-the-extra-mile that makes all the difference. There is no question
that we are sticking with NetJets.

After a one-year hiatus, the NetJets Poker Invitational was back and bigger
than ever in 2011. More than 300 Owners participated in the event held at
Wynn Las Vegas on June 17 and 18.
The event kicked off Friday evening with a Welcome Reception hosted by
Warren Buffett, Steve Wynn, Adam Johnson, and Kenny Dichter. Approximately
900 people – including Owners and their guests – attended the reception and
then danced and enjoyed desserts at Blush Lounge at the Wynn.
Saturday began with a chance for Owners to chat with Warren Buffett over
coffee. At 10:00 a.m., the NetJets No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament
began, and by 5:00 p.m. the field had been whittled down to the ten-player
Final Table. That evening, the awards ceremony got underway at the Encore
Theatre with a performance by the cast of Jersey Boys. Then, Steve Wynn and
Warren Buffett took center stage, performing a routine with GEICO commercial
actor Mike McGlone. David Spade followed with stand-up comedy, after which
Jordan Hansell, Kenny Dichter, and Adam Johnson handed out the grand
prizes to all Owners who made it to the Final Table. Ray Romano closed out
the show with a 30-minute comedy routine.

During ArtCRUSH, the Aspen Art Museum presents an important contemporary artist with the Aspen Award
for Art. This year, that honor went to Roni Horn, whose work is acclaimed for combining conceptual rigor
and formal beauty, often exploring issues of gender, identity, and the complex relationship between subject
and object.
Event
The three-day event kicked off with an invitation-only cocktail reception and four-course dinner paired with
the finest wines at the private home of famed art collectors and NetJets Owners John and Amy Phelan.
The next day, NetJets hosted over 100 guests at an invitation-only lunch and conversation with Roni Horn and
the Aspen Art Museum’s director and chief curator, Heidi Zuckerman Jacobson. The lunch was a highlight
of the event, providing an intimate social setting for NetJets Owners to meet Horn, several contemporary
artists, and fellow art enthusiasts.
That night, guests previewed auction items and had the chance to explore the luxurious features of a brand
new Maybach automobile at “PreviewCRUSH.” This all led up to Friday night’s benefit auction and gala dinner,
where Horn received her award and NetJets Owners and Marquis Jet Card Owners mingled with Aspen society.
Money raised
In all, the auction helped raise $1.7 million in support of the museum’s programs and its new building
project, scheduled to open in 2013. Horn’s “Clowd and Cloun (Gray)” from 2000/2001 was sold for
$420,000, which was the highest price paid for a single work in the event’s seven-year history.

Whether you’re skiing or surfing, remember slots
Slots at mountain airports
Slots in the tropics
To fly into and out of mountain airports with minimal delays, contact your Owner
Services Team for information regarding the 2011-12 slot program. The FAA
imposes slot restrictions in anticipation of congestion and inclement weather
common at airports in Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and other ski
destinations during the fall/winter season.
During the winter holidays, congestion is almost inevitable at certain airports
in the Caribbean and Mexico, including Juliana Airport (TNCM) in St. Maarten,
Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (TQPF) in Anguilla, Cyril E. King Airport
(TIST) in St. Thomas, and Los Cabos International Airport (MMSD) in Cabo San
Lucas. Slots are not required, but ATC delays may occur and the airports may
close due to limited ramp space. Therefore, we suggest that you either select an
alternate airport that is less crowded or travel on days other than December 26
and 27, and January 1 and 2.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) releases slots exactly 72 hours in
advance, and slots are usually claimed within seconds. Our slot requests for
a particular airport frequently exceed the entire number of slots issued by the
FAA for all general aviation operators. Unfortunately, we have no influence over
which flights are selected for slots, but we still ask that you provide five days
notice when you travel to/from airports requiring slots. While we manage the
slot system for you, act as your advocate, and do all we can to obtain a slot
for you at your requested departure time, much of the process is out of our
control. If we cannot get a slot for you at your requested time and/or airport,
we will continue to work to obtain one at a similar time and/or nearby airport.
Slots are not confirmed until 24 hours prior to the time of travel. While slots are
needed only to land at many airports, they may also affect your departure if a
slot is required for the aircraft that picks you up for your return flight.
Helpful hints
• Advance notice is needed for travel on Peak Period Days (48 hours) and to
airports requiring slots (five days).
• You may need to be more flexible with your departure time for flights on Peak
Period Days and for flights to airports requiring slots.
• While it’s always important to arrive on time for your NetJets flight, it is
especially critical when your flight requires a slot, because you risk losing your
slot reservation if you’re late.
• How far in advance you book a flight has no bearing on whether a slot will be
available on the day of your flight, but it helps us prepare to request slots from
the FAA. We have no influence over which flights are chosen.
De-icing at Jackson Hole Airport (KJAC)
If you’re flying out of Jackson Hole Airport (KJAC) in Jackson, Wyoming
this winter, you may need to allow a little extra time. The airport is located
on federally-controlled land within Grand Teton National Park and, to
protect the environment, adheres to government-mandated de-icing
procedures. De-icing operations are performed in a designated area
where the fluid can be reclaimed without runoff beyond the airport’s
borders. Because all aircraft – both general aviation and airlines – are
de-iced in the designated area, there is potential for delays during peak
travel periods.

Voluntary Curfews at Two New York Area Airports
NetJets encourages Owners to plan accordingly
If you fly to/from New York City, please note that two local airports popular
with NetJets Owners and Marquis Jet Card Owners – Teterboro (KTEB) in
Teterboro, NJ and Westchester County (KHPN) in White Plains, NY – have
implemented Voluntary Restraint From Flying (VRFF) programs in an effort to
curtail airplane noise during overnight hours. As long as travelers comply, we
hope to continue to avoid mandatory restrictions.

As such, we ask that you make every effort to limit flights to/from these
airports during the “curfew” hours. If it’s possible to arrange travel at different
times or at an alternate airport, such as Newark Liberty International (KEWR),
John F. Kennedy International (KJFK), LaGuardia (KLGA), Morristown (KMMU),
or Stewart/Hudson Valley (KSWF), it would help sustain the strong relations
NetJets already has with the communities surrounding each airport, which
ultimately benefits all Owners. We strive to do all we can to comply with the
VRFF program, including having our pilots follow noise abatement procedures
to help further reduce noise levels near the airport.
While NetJets will not restrict operating times at Teterboro or Westchester
County at this time, we believe that raising your level of awareness can have a
positive impact on these airports and the surrounding communities. Together,
we can work to preserve the flexibility we currently have at these important
facilities. While it may sometimes be inconvenient to schedule flights to avoid
overnight hours, it’s a far better option than losing access altogether if a
mandatory curfew is implemented. We thank you for your support and
cooperation.

NetJets-exclusive FBO coming to
West Palm Beach
NetJets has recommenced operations
at Reagan National
NetJets continues to make investments that will benefit Owners and, as such,
we’re proud to announce that an FBO is being constructed – exclusively for
use by NetJets Owners and Marquis Jet Card Owners – at Palm Beach
International Airport (KPBI) in West Palm Beach, Florida. The project will be
built to NetJets’ specifications and Owner preferences and is scheduled for
completion in early 2013.
Under the Transportation Security Administration’s KDCA Access Standard
Security Program (DASSP), NetJets has recommenced operations at Ronald
Reagan Washington National Airport (KDCA) in Arlington, Virginia. Access has
been made possible by recent process changes put in place by the TSA that
allow for greater aircraft and pilot assignment flexibility.
Upon completion, this will become the fourth NetJets-only FBO in the country,
joining the FBOs at Westchester County Airport (KHPN) in White Plains, New
York; Port Columbus International Airport (KCMH) in Columbus, Ohio; and
Cincinnati Municipal Airport (KLUK) in Cincinnati, Ohio.
NetJets Owners and Marquis Jet Card Owners can look forward to having all
the amenities and modern furnishings in Palm Beach that they already enjoy
at other NetJets-only FBOs. The 10,000-square-foot terminal will house
conference and business center capabilities, rest areas, and flight-planning
facilities, and will also provide streamlined passenger transition to and from
the aircraft ramp. In addition, the building will be located on the northwest
corner of the airfield, allowing rapid access to major roadways and the
commercial terminal.
NetJets will lease the dedicated space from Signature Flight Support Corporation,
the world’s leading FBO network. The multi-year deal will enhance our ability
to provide exceptional service to you, at one of the most popular destinations
for NetJets Owners and Marquis Jet Card Owners. In fact, Owners took over
5,000 flights into and out of KPBI in 2010.
NetJets worked with the TSA to secure “pre-clearance” of all NetJets aircraft
and pilots. This allows for greater flexibility in the scheduling process as aircraft
and/or pilot changes no longer require a new waiver submission after the initial
waiver has been approved.
Although changes have been made, it is important to note that some restrictions
still apply, including:
• A waiver and slot are still required for KDCA operations, though the approval
timeline has been reduced to 24 hours.
• Passengers may not be added to the manifest after the DASSP waiver has
been submitted for approval. Passengers can be removed from the manifest
at any time.
• Inbound crew, aircraft, and passengers require screening at a TSA-approved
gateway airport and upon departing KDCA. There are currently more than 60
airports designated by the TSA as acceptable for this purpose. A full listing is
available from your Owner Services Team.
• All passengers over the age of 18 are required to carry identification regardless
of the flight rule under which the flight is operating.
• An Armed Security Officer (ASO) is required for all flights to/from KDCA.
NetJets can assist in securing the services of an ASO.

NetJets Invests in the Future of Aviation
Through a new partnership with The Ohio State University College of Engineering, NetJets has committed $2 million
($500,000 each year over the next four years) to establish the new OSU Center for Aviation Studies, an institution tasked
with conducting aviation-related research, education, scholarship and the creation of career opportunities for talented
aviation students. The funding will aid research projects, student scholarships and fellowships, as well as business
operations for the Center.
NetJets Chairman & CEO Jordan Hansell said, “This exciting new venture reaffirms NetJets’ commitment to strengthening
the aviation industry. As part of NetJets’ long-term business planning efforts, NetJets will continue to research programs
and initiatives that serve the interests of the business while enhancing our industry and NetJets’ position as the worldwide
leader in private aviation.”
The center will be led by the Director for the Center for Aviation Studies and Associate Aviation Professor Seth Young.
“The center is poised to be the conduit for all aviation-related research, education and outreach at Ohio State and
has the great potential to be one of the world’s leading resources for aviation knowledge,” Young said. Students and
faculty involved in aviation courses at OSU’s engineering, business and arts and sciences colleges will benefit immediately from the new funding, and the center is expected to increase access to flight training courses and other offerings
at the university’s airport.
This latest partnership is an extension of a tradition of collaboration between NetJets and OSU. In 2008, NetJets
contributed four aircraft to the school, and the Flight Training Clinic has used those aircraft to train over 100 pilots.
The Event
In June, NetJets Chairman & CEO Jordan Hansell joined aviation pioneer Senator John Glenn, OSU President Gordon Gee,
and other business, education, and political leaders at the University’s Don Scott Airport to celebrate the new center.
“NetJets’ contribution makes it possible now for Ohio State to expand its aviation activities, encourage more people into
those areas, and get more young people flying,” Glenn said. “And that’s good for the future.”
