VOALA VETERANS’ SERVICES
Serving the Brave Men and Women who Served our Country
Hollywood Veterans Center is a residential facility for veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, that are
experiencing severe levels of difficulty readjusting to civilian life. The men and women in our program
have the goal of obtaining permanent housing, financial security, and a personal support system. We emphasize service that builds personal growth, self-determination, and community reinforcement; we will take
measures to ensure family preservation and/or reunification; and we will recognize and celebrate the
achievements of the individual.
The center’s program offers housing, meals, and treatment for up to one year, with wrap-around services
that include: Physical and Mental Health Care, Addiction Treatment and Relapse Prevention, Groups: PostDeployment, HIV Awareness, Anger Management, Seeking Safety, Classes: Health, Nutrition and Fitness,
Critical Thinking, Life Skills, Job Preparedness, Daily Meditation.
Navy Village 76 former Navy housing condo units are a community for female veterans with families who
are at risk of disruption. We will also target single mothers and other female veterans who are finding it
difficult to transition back in to civilian life. Community centers and support services on site.
Veterans Service Center is the point of contact for veterans. We assess, advocate and make referrals to
VOALA programs, the VA, or other organizations, and we run support groups every day. Provides group
and individual support services, 3 meals a day, transportation, and referrals to outpatient addiction
programs, job training, with the end goal being permanent housing.
Rotary House Our 20,000 sq. ft., 150 bed service center provides residential and non-residential programs
to serve as many as 4,000 people annually. Services include emergency and transitional shelter, jobs, corrections and addiction programs geared specifically towards veterans. Meetings are held 3x daily on
weekdays and 2x on weekends for AA, NA, CA, HIV Awareness, and other self–help groups.
The Barracks offers transitional housing beds, classrooms and a computer center for chronically homeless
veterans, along with job training and placement, and permanent housing referrals, mental health/substance
abuse treatment, case management, supportive services, peer-based recovery and aftercare services. Additional therapeutic approaches/opportunities utilized include: Motivational Interviewing, Thinking for a
Change, Anger Management, Seeking Safety, AIDS Awareness, and Health and Wellness. In addition to the
services offered in house by VOALA, participants are encouraged to go to outside AA/NA groups, and
provided transport to the VA to receive mental health, medical and dental services.
HVRP: Helping Veterans Receive Paychecks is an employment program that provides job training, job
placement, permanent housing referrals, transitional housing, vocational training contacts, job search assistance, resume preparation, referrals to employers, job search services, job retention strategies, referrals to
free healthcare, and other supportive services.
HVRP-2, our Female Veteran and Single Head of Household Veteran’s HVRP program helps female
veterans and veterans with families start a new life and optimize their ability to live independently, with
pride and dignity. Services also include: networking workshop, anger management workshop, filmed mock
job interviews, retention strategies workshop, resume writing workshop, and interview clothing.

Meeting the Diverse Needs of Veterans and their Families
IVTP - Inspiring Veterans To Prosperity is employment-focused and designed to assist veterans that are
ex-offenders, recently released and pre-release find their rightful place in today's society work force with
permanent housing. We recognize and honor these temporarily disadvantaged veterans, treating each with
the respect they so richly deserve. We train and empower them to self-sufficiency.
VS-21 provides transitional housing while addressing the issues that challenge young veterans including
unemployment, addiction, mental illness, and homelessness.
VS-65 provides transitional housing and support services including benefits advocacy, permanent housing
referrals, and life skills classes for veterans over the age of 65.
VS-90 In association with the VA, we provide an employment-centered program that incorporates
mentoring, job training, and other comprehensive transitional services after release from incarceration.
Presidential Re-Entry Initiative We identify veterans while incarcerated and, in conjunction with the Dept.
of Labor, upon release provide services to help them obtain and maintain employment and succeed as selfsufficient community members.
San Julian Access Center provides assistance and referrals to homeless veterans and families, including
case management, computer center, life skills classes, and clothing distribution.
West Covina Outreach & Access Center provides assistance and referrals to homeless individuals and
families, including case management, computer center, life skills classes, and clothing distribution.
El Monte Outreach & Access Center provides assistance and referrals to homeless individuals and families,
including case management, computer center, life skills classes, and clothing distribution.
Central City Recovery Innovative drug and alcohol treatment designed to end the cycle.
Central City Screening & Evaluation provides assessment/referrals for recovery and rehabilitation.
Ballington Plaza provides subsidized housing with services for mentally ill and elderly veterans.
North Hollywood Apartments provides subsidized low-income units to veterans and their families.
