Brother Kent Armstrong 32˚, is the Valley of

highly trusted member of our administration. Kent

Salvation Army in Colorado. He returned to California
and worked locally until 2006 when he retired.
Kent joined the Triangle Chapter, Order of DeMolay in

and was awarded the degree of Chevalier in 1968.
Kent continued as an advisor for DeMolay until he
moved to Stockton in 1970. He then became an

Brother Adrian Vera 32°, joined the Scottish Rite in
1974 about the time he became an F.B.I. agent. His
job kept him constantly moving around the country
and world. The grueling regimen dictated by the
bureau prevented regular participation in the Rite until
he retired in 1995. He came to the Stockton Scottish
Rite and in the last five years that I have been
involved with the administration of our Rite, Adrian
has always been available when needed.
Adrian is the Chairman of our Golf Tournament
Committee which is a Charity fundraiser for our
Language Center. He is a member of the Language
Board and works on our crab feed fundraiser.
Adrian is a Shriner and has been a member of the
transportation team for children to the Shriners
Hospital facility.
He served in the Air Force JAG unit for six years.
Adrian is an inductee to the Stockton Athletic Hall of
Fame and serves on its board. He is also an inductee
in the Mexican American Hall of fame.
He has volunteered his services to the Councilio for
the Spanish Speaking in Stockton and was previously
on the board of directors for the University of the
Pacific Alumni Association in Stockton.
Adrian is dedicated to the Stockton Scottish Rite and
is a fine Mason.

VALLEY OF STOCKTON
MASTER CRAFTSMAN PROGRAM
Here’s the way to learn what Masonry is REALLY all about and
how it can help you expand your horizons for a more
worthwhile life. Three courses are readily available for
self-study at a very nominal fee (cost of texts), and the nice
thing is, the pace is your own with a relatively easy difficulty
level.
At the moment, to my knowledge, there are at least six
Brothers enrolled in Course I, “Scottish Rite Basics”: Allen
Wells, 32°, Tosh Saruwatari, 32°, Mark Castillo, 32°, Adrian
Vera, 32 John Wong, 32°, and Raymond Dunne, 32°. David
Nunez, 32° has finished Course I and is now well into Course
III, “Symbolic Lodge”. I’ve just finished Course I and am taking
a breather before getting into a second course.
When you’re ready to start seeing “MORE LIGHT in
MASONRY”, please let me know. I’m here to help you get
under way and to assist as I can during your new endeavors.

Stockton Scottish Rite Recruitment Incentive Program.
In keeping with the Scottish Rite Valley Membership Achievement Program we have instituted this
program in an effort to recruit new members and recognize our members who actively seek new
members. It is our hope that our upcoming reunions will be filled with new brothers.
Stockton Scottish Rite Recruitment Incentive Program
The Stockton Scottish Rite is offering an incentive program directed at our existing members
successfully recruiting new members. This policy is effective beginning May 1, 2015 and expires,
unless renewed by the VMAP committee, April 30, 2016.
Any member recruiting three new members and is the top line signer on the application/petition in
a consecutive 12 month period is entitled to free dues for the immediately upcoming dues period if
the following conditions are met.
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
The three new members must complete the Scottish Rite Degrees.
The members must be in good standing and all dues must be paid.
The recruiting member must be the top line signer for all three new members.
The recruiting member must be a member in good standing of the Stockton Scottish Rite.
For the purposes of establishing the consecutive 12 month period the application date will
be determinative. However, the application will not be included in the three member count
until the new member has received his degrees. In the event a new member does not
complete his degrees during the consecutive 12 month period the incentive may be carried
over one additional 12 month period allowing the candidate an opportunity to complete his
degrees. Upon completion the recruiting member will be awarded the free dues in the up
coming year.
The following administrative members are not eligible to participate in the incentive
program.
a.
Personal Representative
b.
General Secretary
c.
Treasurer
d.
Assistants to the Personal Representative
Additional Incentive to New Members
For the twelve month period beginning May 1, 2015 and ending April 30, 2016 the application fees
will be reduced to $125.00 for new members. This program may be reviewed annually and
renewed upon approval of the Valley Membership Achievement Committee.

M
y Brothers, Why did you join the Scottish Rite? Was it for “more light
in Masonry”? Maybe it was for additional fellowship or better meals
than available in your home lodge? Maybe it was for more and
interesting degrees?
Whatever the reason, I note that although my home Lodge, Morning Star has
about 100 members who belong to the Stockton Scottish Rite, I see only about 15
show up at gatherings of Scottish Rite on a regular basis. Other lodges in our
Valley have about the same ratio of membership to those attending.
To improve attendance we need to offer more of what you joined the Rite to
gain. I just seem at a loss to be able to know what that is. We are improving our
Degree Team ritual, we are offering purely social events like the Sunset Club and
the Gold Rush SR Club in the hills. We have a very active Master Craftsman
program which will provide more “light in Masonry” than any other formal program
that I am aware of and fellowship abounds!!!
If you have not been here in a while, come try again. You will find that you will
have a very favorable experience. If you are one of those attending regularly, bring
a lodge brother who has not been to the Scottish Rite for a while. The only thing our
Valley is lacking is attendance, we have everything else!
Fraternally,
John L. Baker, 32° KCCH

Know the Speech Therapist
Heidi Germino
Heidi Germino is the Speech Language Pathologist at the Stockton Scottish Rite Childhood Language Disorder
Clinic. She has been with us since 1997, initially as a part-time therapist and became the full-time Clinic Director
in 2007
Heidi Ann was born in Lynnwood, California, in the southern part of the state, on July 18, 1967. She is the
eldest of six children, three daughters and three sons, born to Gene and Joyce Poertner. Heidi’s father always
was employed with city government in financial related positions. When she was five-years old, the family
moved to Brentwood, California. Her father became the City Manager of Brentwood. She recounts that
Brentwood was small at the time and that they lived near the city limits on one-half acre of land. As a youth,
from the third grade on, she was in 4H, raising chickens, sheep and one steer. Partly because of her involvement
in 4H, when she was about 12 years old, she began working for a classmate’s family at an orchard fruit stand. She
recounts that her parents instilled a strong work ethic, which she retains to this day. The proceeds of her jobs
went toward the purchase of school clothing and supplies.
Heidi recounts coming with her family to Stockton to shop, as Brentwood was small. During the trips, she visited
the Caesar Chavez Public Library and also the campus of the University of the Pacific. Later, after graduation
from Liberty High School in Brentwood, she would apply and be accepted to the University of the Pacific, from
which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990 and a Master of Arts degree in 1992.
After graduating, she was employed for eleven-years with the Brentwood Union School District. At the same
time, she worked part-time for Delta Memorial Hospital in the Home Health Department. In 1997, she began
employment with the University of the Pacific as a part-time Clinical Supervisor. During this time, she also
worked for the Stockton Unified School District as a Speech Therapist. In comment about her doubling of jobs,
she said, “You do this job because you love it.”
Currently, Heidi is Director of Clinical Education at the University of the Pacific. She teaches one or two courses
a semester in Clinical Methods, Public School Issues and also prepare University of the Pacific students for
internships.
While at the University of the Pacific, she met David Germino, a fellow student. They married in 1999. He
currently is a school counselor in Linden. They have two daughters, Olivia, age 14 and Annabelle, age 12. They
reside in Valley Springs on five acres of land. Heidi enjoys gardening and commented that she currently has
squash and tomatoes in bloom.
At the clinic, they currently have 46 students in the summer session (camp). These are two-week sessions, which
allows the student clinicians to do things a little different and meet specific needs of the clients.
Should you desire to learn more about the program, ask to see the clinic get answers to your questions and see the
amazing activities that go on behind the scenes.

Stockton Chapter DeMolay
On Saturday, June 20, 2015, Stockton Chapter
DeMolay will meet to feed the homeless. Our
Master Councilor, Alex Amadore decided that
Stockton Chapter needed to work in a positive
way this term and this is his way of showing that
the Chapter cares about the community.
Stockton Chapter is grateful to the Masonic
Families for helping to make this project a reality.
Our Bethel has many fun activities throughout the
summer starting with Grand Bethel. In July, we will
begin our Dimes for Dollars campaign and we will

Rainbow News
est summer wishes of all of our Masonic family and friends. We are pleased to
announce that the “Bay Area Cancer Connection” is our Grand Service project for
2015-2016. This organization focuses on ovarian and breast cancer support. The
next time one of our Rainbow Girls asks you about supporting our project, maybe
you will donate an extra dollar to this worthy cause.
July 6th the Assembly will be holding an initiation. One young lady being initiated into
Rainbow is Miss Katie Martinez, John and Karen Baker’s granddaughter and the other
young lady is Rainn Castleman, who is the daughter of Richard and Raksmey Castleman.
Richard is a member of Morning Star Lodge.
The weekend of June 13th, the assemblies in our area spent the day at Rancho Seco
Park, swimming, playing volleyball, tossing water balloons and enjoying various other
games. The food was great and the park was a really neat place to visit.
Once again our Assembly will be making and selling homemade tamales. Maritza and
Lupita Paniagua will be “Head Chef’s” in this project. We look forward to your support.
See you in August.
In Rainbow Love.
