Hey girl!
I heard you like Ryan Gosling
Rumours have been circling Wagga Wagga
that Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling
will be visiting the city for a film festival in
his honour as part of National Youth Week
(NYW).
Gosling – or possibly his cutout – has been
spotted across Wagga, with fans and wouldbe paparazzi sharing shots of the actor via
social media with #gosfestwagga.
Council News snapped Gosling this week
checking out the site of the festival from the
Civic Theatre balcony with local fan Jess
Facey (pictured).
The Ryan Gosling Film Festival will give
fans of all ages the chance to watch the
actor’s best-known films The Notebook and
Crazy Stupid Love under the stars at the
Wollundry Amphitheatre on 17 April from 6pm.
HOLIDAY HAPPINESS
Free concert to feature upcoming Melbourne bands
Parents won’t be hearing
“I’m bored” this school
holidays with a bumper
two weeks of fun and
activities.
Right across the city there’s something for
kids of all ages, with the showpiece event
being a free all-ages concert as part of
National Youth Week (NYW).
Press Play has been curated and
designed by youth, for youth and will
feature some of the nation’s most talented
emerging bands, plus some of the best
local talent.
Melbourne outfits Kalacoma and Dear
Plastic will be showcasing their mix of
experimental rock and avant-garde pop,
with support from local musician Cameron
Graham and duo Jarryn Phegan and Zach
Biggin.
Curating Press Play is ex-resident Sarah
Mott, who has been living and studying in
Melbourne for the past five years and put
together the gig’s line up.
The promotional artwork for Press Play
also has a local flavour, with Wagga-based
graphic designer and CSU alumni Adele
PRESSPLAY
Packer commissioned by Wagga Wagga
City Council to create the unique designs.
Regenerate Youth Festival has partnered
with headspace Wagga Wagga and NYW
to present Press Play and the Ryan Gosling
Film Festival.
Both events are expected to prove a
hit with approximately 21 per cent of the
Wagga’s population aged between 12 and
25 years.
Both Press Play and the Ryan Gosling
Film Festival are all ages, drug and alcohol
free events. Visit wagga.nsw.gov.au/
youthweek for more information.

SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
os?
Under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act it is illegal to pollute, or cause
or permit the pollution of waters.
Under the Act, ‘water pollution’ includes introducing litter, wash water, soil, debris,
detergent, paint, cement slurry, building materials etc into waters or placing such
material where it is likely to be washed or blown into waters, or the stormwater system
or percolate into groundwater.
It is the builders’ and developers’ responsibility to keep building sites clean and stop
erosion and building materials from entering stormwater drains.
Heavy fines, from $4000, may be imposed – to avoid them, follow these steps:
• Don’t wash excess materials and

equipment down stormwater drains
• Minimise the amount of land
• Minimise on-site vehicle activity
disturbed during construction
during wet weather or when the site
is muddy
• Locate stockpiles away from road,
paths, drainage lines, watercourses
• Ensure sediment fencing is installed
around the site
