A friendly carnival atmosphere makes Power Big Meet
the ideal vacation spot! Over 17.000 cars. Street Rods,
Customs, 50’s cruisers, 60’s muscle cars, Corvettes,
Mustangs, Camaros – you name it! You will find it all
at Power Big Meet. Last year we had visitors from
over 30 countries including the USA, Russia, Canada,
Mexico, Australia, Japan, Israel, Turkey, Marocco and
almost all European countries.

CRUISING
Nowadays the cruising takes place
on both Friday and Saturday night.
The best cruising is on Friday. The
Saturday tends to be overcrowded.
There will be frequent alcohol tests
of the drivers. Most important at Big
Meet, is a 100% sober driver in all
vehicles. We welcome all American
cars. For non-american cars, vans,
jeeps, trucks, pickups and tractors
there are a age limit of 40 years.
With some special exceptions for unusual
and interesting vehicles.
POWER SWAP MEET
The largest "odds-and-ends" market in Europe. Five km. of car parts,
accessories, notalgia etc. and thousands of people. (Johannisberg airfield page 8)

is the same as last year (along Sjöhagsvägen). It´s spontaneous and there is no precise timetable, except for Friday the 5th and Saturday the 6th of July between 5pm
and 01am when it´s closed for public traffic. We welcome all American cars except
vans and pickups. For non-american cars, vans, jeeps, trucks, pickups and tractors
there is a age limit. It has to be over 40 years old. (With some special exceptions for
unusual and interesting vehicles.) Exceptions will be made for those who live along
the cruisingstrip and for cars in some kind of service.

Only nice, wellpolished American
vehicles are allowed to participate.
Registration is made by the main
entrance to the area (the entrance
by the gocart-track). There you will
also get a starting number, which
you attach, visible on the front
window of the car (on the passenger side). There will be a registration tent, about 300 meters
away from the main entrance, that
will be open for registration during
Friday and is managed by the officals for the cruising. The number
of participants is limited to a maximum of 200 cars. Your registration number is your ticket.
The cruising starts in the area,
where we will meet at 16.45 on
Friday the 5th of July. The cruising will be led by the police
and will start at 17.00. The cruising goes on out from the area to
Sjöhagsvägen and then through
the city centre on Stora Gatan and
then round to cruise back in opposite direction. (see map, red line)
Sjöhagsvägen will be closed
for other traffic for 20-30
minutes.
A jury is located at Sjöhagsvägen
to judge your car for the total elegance.
In order to prevent that the whole
cortege stops, all other cars are
asked to pass.
The jury consists of the following

All spectators are also able to vote
by sending an "Text": Power blank
and starting number, to 71120 at
no cost! The TEXT-voting is open
until 21.00. 3 persons can win a set
of Power Meet Kit.

When you get married at the cruising
during Power Big Meet in Västerås it
is recommended that you go directly
to the wedding area to avoid getting
stuck in traffic. The easiest way to get
there is to leave E18 at Emausmotet and
turn towards the city centre (marked
CENTRUM on roadsigns). You can
either join the cruising at the City Ring
by turning right or you can drive all the
way through the city centre towards
the harbour. This way is only possible
to go for the couples that are going to
get married. All others have to follow
the instructions of the police. There
you reach a neon sign that says "Get
married" (no. 5 on map). There will be
staff to help you out. We will be there
between 19-22 on Friday.
Don´t forget consideration of impediments to
marriage.

36 years of Power Big Meets
Power Big Meet has become a social and cultural event bringing
together enthusiasts from different economic and ethnic backgrounds. Agewise we see no barriers - 18 year olds talk the same
language as 80 year olds. Cartalk! American cars from the past
is a worldwide pasttime knowing no barriers.
Sweden has always been a hugh cartech country despite the
fact that the population is less than 10 million. Its not uncommon with small villages - population less than a 1000 - with 100
or more old American enthusiast cars.
Its a national pasttime predominatly popular outside the bigger
cities.
So enjoy the 2013 Power Big Meet and play by the unwritten
rules. No drinking and driving - foreign visitors MUST know that
even a tiny bit of alcohol is not permitted by the police.
Power Big Meet started on a really small scale in the
little town of Anderstorp 1978. 80 cars and some 400
people came and made history!
2013 marks the 36th annual Power Big Meet. The show attracts
visitors from all over the world and has become the Mecca of
American 50:s and 60:s cars.
Enjoy the friendly atmosphere of Power Big Meet. Nobody cares
if your car is a perfectly restored classic convertible worth a fortune or an old 4 door with lots of patina.

Power Meet pågick för fullt när Stewart
Homan en tidig lördagsmorgon 1985
rullade in i Västerås av en slump.
Sedan dess är han fast.
Det var som att hamna mitt i en amerikansk film, säger engelsmannen.
I dag är de ett kompisgäng på 10-12 stycken
som åker ihop. De inleder resan redan söndag
kväll och ankommer Västerås runt onsdag.
Man kan säga att du fick engelsmännen att
öppna ögonen för Power Meet?
– Ja (skratt), det kan man säga. I dag är det nog
ett hundratal som åker över i alla fall.
Vad är det som gör Power Meet så speciellt?
– Allt. Atmosfären, den otroliga mixen av människor. Showen, swap meet, cruisingen. Allt.
Hans favoritbil är en 58 Cadillac Eldorado convertible.
– Jag har gjort mig av med många bilar under
åren. Men en har jag behållit, "familjebilen" (54
Cadillac). Där blev i praktiken mina barn gjorda,
säger han med ett skratt.
Årets upplaga, Stewart Homans 29:e, blir speciellt. För första gången kommer mina grabbar, 9
och 13 år, att vara med. Men de får flyga över.
