The Micro Market Recovery Program (MMRP) is a
City of Chicago initiative that encourages neighborhood
development and reinvestment in 13 designated
Target Areas throughout the city. The program brings
together local community partners, City of Chicago
departments, and other resource organizations to
keep residents in their homes, to reoccupy vacant
buildings, and to help new and current owners invest
in the area. Community Investment Corporation
is the lead agency in the Chatham MMRP.

community with a proud

Why
!
Chatham
Bungalows with manicured lawns and apartment
buildings of architectural significance make Chatham
a beautiful place to live. Both rental and investment
opportunities offer value and affordability.
Neighborhood events sponsored by local
organizations and churches abound, providing
much fun for the whole family. Plenty of
parks mean youth have places to play.
Easily accessible by Metra and the Chicago
Transit Authority, Chatham features thriving retail
amenities along the commercial corridors of South
Cottage Grove and 87th, 79th, and 75th Streets.
A delicious variety of restaurants include soul
and Creole (Captain’s Hard Times Dining),
BBQ (Uncle John’s), Caribbean (Café Trinidad)
and African (Yassa African Restaurant).
More than a place to eat, Mather’s Café
on 83rd Street is a community center with
yoga classes and lots more. And, Dat Donuts
is more than a regular old donut shop.
Dat’s “too good to dunk” world-renowned
donuts satisfy many a sweet tooth.
For coffee aficionados, Flecks Coffee, D
& M Soul Café, and Nine One Seven Café
are fantastic places to get your daily roast.
Music fans get an earful of blues
(Lee’s Unleaded Blues), hip hop (Red
Pepper’s Masquerade), and Jazz (New
Apartment Lounge). Chatham is part
of a thriving Chicago music scene.
