We b oth offer the same trainings regularly (e.g. CPR, AODA); we could do them together or take turns. My organization offers regular trainings for new staff that usually have few attendees; staff from other organizations could fill the empty seats. We all have unmet training needs in certain areas (e.g. staff well-‐being, facilitation skills). By pooling our resources, we could hire a trainer. My organization has in-‐house training expertise in an area of interest to others. With a small fee, we could to do the trainings more frequently so that others could attend. Be as creative as you like! There are many, many ways that organizations can strategically share their wealth and have their training needs met. How will it work? The trading floor will be a facilitated open space. Needs and offers will be posted in a central area, and you’ll spend most of your time circulating and talking with others to develop agreements—which will be recorded and celebrated. How will we keep it going? For this effort to be most successful, trading will need to continue over time. Enter the CollaborAction website. Throughout the day, assistants at a bank of computers will help you enter your data, so that we immediately create a scale that enables the site to get right to work. Get the word out: You’ll have the opportunity to sign up to broadcast information about CollaborAction and request submissions, so that the database grows. We’ll coordinate this effort at the symposium so that w e don’t have a lot of cross-‐postings. And we’ll provide prepared communications materials for you to use. W H O M A Y A T T E N D ? Partners of the project, and any other interested organizations, as space permits. We have a limited number of openings, so please register early! To attend, you must be highly conversant with your organization’s training programme and needs and be able to make decisions about allocating resources for training. If you meet only one of these criteria, you must bring with you another person from your organization who meets the other. For example, a training coordinator and executive director might come together. To register, complete the attached form, and send to [email protected].

Think of it as a kijiji for training—a place where you can post requests or offers, generate suggested matches, or search and coordinate to find just what you need. With a great deal of excitement, we’ll populate and launch CollaborAction together, on September 20th. Working together towards healthier and more resilient organizations and communities.
