The first Guiding
Licences were issued
in 1913.
EXCLUSIVE GUIDING TERRITORIES
In 1961, government had the foresight to establish
exclusive Guiding Territories.
Today there are 245 guide territories in BC.
THE GUIDING TERRITORY CERTIFICATE
The rights to a Guiding
Territory are detailed in the
Certificate, which is issued
under the Wildlife Act.
It is considered property and is
part of the estate of the guide
outfitter.
Guide outfitters invest in their
guide territories, cutting trail and
building infrastructure. The
exclusivity creates a sense of
stewardship and responsibility.
