Section 2 – Setting Up Your SecurID
BEFORE YOU START
Please make sure you have all OBT access passwords and your SecurID token ready before you start with the
procedures outlined in the these instructions.
It may be helpful for you to first look at the document "Introduction to OBT", in particular Section 6 that explains the
various access passwords you were given and their function during the login procedure.
Your token displays randomly generated six-digit numbers that change every 60
seconds. The numbers generated are unique to each individual token at any
given time. The small bars on the left-hand side of the display show how long
the current number will remain valid before changing (every bar represents 10
seconds remaining, so the code on the token shown will change in 50
seconds).
The following paragraphs guide you through the process of setting up your SecurID token. You only have to do this
entire procedure once, not at every login.
The Setup Procedure
The code on your SecurID token together with a self selected PIN Code forms your SecurID PassCode. While you
have no control over the code on your token of course, you can select the PIN code. Before you use you token for
the fist time, you need to assign a PIN Code to the token. To do this, please have your OBT User Name ready and go
to the following link:
http://securid.obt.com.au (there is no www in front of this link)
Once there, simply follow the instructions on the screen. It is a 3-step process and will only take a few moments. You
can select any PIN between 4 and 8 digits long. You can use both letters and numbers, but no special characters like
%, &, # etc.

Section 3 – Connecting to OBT Using Your SecurID
PLEASE NOTE: If you are connecting to OBT via the Internet you must follow the instructions below to be able to
successfully login.
After having set up the use of the SecurID (see previous section), next time you connect to the OBT network via direct
dial-in or over the Internet, all you need to do is what is shown in the following steps.
I.
Connect to your Internet Service Provider (or if you are subscribed to
OBT’s direct dial-in service, dial into OBT’s network directly).
II.
Start your Internet browser and connect to www.obt.com.au.
III.
Click on the SecurID Login link on the bottom left of the page.
IV.
Place the cursor in the white entry field and enter your OBT User Name.
V.
When asked for a PassCode, enter your PIN immediately followed by the six-digit number shown on your
SecurID token at the time. For example, if the PIN you selected was "4all" and your token shows 123456, you
need to enter the PassCode 4all123456 to gain access to the network.
VI.
Select Submit in the next window.
VII.
In the next window select the network (most likely it is the XPe network) you wish to log on to.

in.

The next screen will show a few icons representing different applications that may be enabled for you. Every
user has the following two icons:
OBT Desktop XP – Clicking this icon will launch your OBT session. It will cover your entire screen
OBT Desktop XP 95% – Clicking this icon will launch your OBT session. It will cover about 95% of your screen
still giving you access to your local Start Button and local Task Bar

X.
During the first login to an OBT Session, you may be presented with the following screen:
Please tick the options as shown in the above picture and click OK.
It all sounds so complicated but it really is not. As mentioned earlier, most of the time you will only deal with the
Network Password. Only when you need to access the Network over a modem or via the Internet e.g. from home or
if you are a casual OBT user, you need to worry about your PIN and SecurID Password. You will see it will soon be
second nature to you and the knowledge that there is such a high degree of security protecting your data will easily
outweigh the initial challenges.
