By changing out light bulbs, installing a programmable thermostat and adding insulation,
you can save a surprising amount on your energy bills. Check out our rebate and
conservation programs to help you start saving today.
How to qualify and apply
for rebates
Alliant Energy’s rebate program includes incentives that cover a portion of the cost of
energy-efficient equipment and materials. Keep these things in mind when making an
investment in your home comfort.
• Rebates are paid to Alliant Energy’s Iowa residential customers.
• Apply for a rebate after the purchase and installation of your eligible item(s).
• Send in the appropriate rebate claim form with a copy of your sales receipt or
itemized invoice. Some rebates require additional documentation such as an
installation report or efficiency certificate. These additional requirements are
noted on each rebate claim form.
• Rebate claim forms for equipment or services that are usually completed by
a dealer, contractor or installer can be obtained from that place of business.
All rebate forms (with the exception of insulation, which is provided during a
Home Energy Assessment) are available online at alliantenergy.com/rebates.
You can have forms mailed to you by calling our Energy Efficiency Hotline at
1-866-ALLIANT (866-255-4268) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

HVAC-SAVE required
A new high-efficiency heating or cooling system is a big investment, so make sure it’s
performing properly by asking for a SAVE-rating from your contractor. SAVE stands for
System Adjustment and Verification for Efficiency. A SAVE-rating goes above and beyond
the standard installation. Your contractor measure the performance of your new unit after
it’s installed. Only a SAVE-certified contractor can provide this rating.
To qualify for a heating or cooling equipment rebate, you must have your system installed
by a SAVE-certified contractor, receive an excellent rating and pass a third-party verification.
Replacing your old heating and
cooling system can cut your
annual energy bill by nearly $200

Many Alliant Energy customers
know about our rebates. But
few are aware of our energysaving services. These programs
not only make energy efficiency
more affordable, they also make
it easier to fit in to your already
busy life. After all, saving
energy saves more than money;
it increases your home comfort
and makes your home a more
pleasant place to be. Plus, being
energy efficient helps conserve
limited natural resources,
which, in turn, protects the
environment and helps to
ensure a robust energy supply
for kids and future generations.

*Motor must run and unit must cool.
Appliance Cycling
Appliance Cycling is a voluntary program in which Alliant Energy can cycle off
your air conditioner temporarily when electricity demand is high. The switch cycles
the air conditioner on and off every 15 minutes during the event, which usually lasts
up to six hours. Events typically occur Monday through Friday from 1 to 7 p.m.
and never on weekends or holidays. In return, you receive an $8 credit on your
monthly electric bill, June through September.
If you have an electric water heater and also allow Alliant Energy to cycle it off
during peak periods, you will receive an additional $2 credit on your monthly
electric bill, June through September. Unlike air conditioners, water heaters are
turned off for the entire duration of the event.

50% or 100% of your monthly electrical usage. For every kilowatt-hour supported,
Alliant Energy purchases renewable energy from sources within its service area.
That power is added to the grid to replace energy that would be otherwise
generated from fossil fuel sources. For more information or to enroll, go to
alliantenergy.com/secondnature.
Operation ReLeaf
Operation ReLeaf brings high-quality trees to you at a discounted price. These
landscaping trees are for houses in Iowa.
Each tree can reduce your energy use when planted in the right spot. By creating
shade or being part of a windbreak, you will reduce the energy it needs to heat or
cool your house.
The program takes trees valued between $65 and $125, and discounts them to $25.
Be sure to reserve your tree early, they are sold first-come, first-served. Trees are
available during a spring and fall planting season in select counties across the state.
This program is a partnership between Alliant Energy and the Bureau of Forestry at
the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The trees come from nurseries in Iowa.
Since 2011, customers have planted more than 73,000 trees through
Operation ReLeaf.
To learn more, visit alliantenergy.com/releaf or call 1-866-ALLIANT.

at places like parks, gateways, cemeteries, nature trails, libraries and schools.
