Dear 3ABN Partner,
Several years ago a couple of Evangelical Christians had an idea
of holding a special Ten Commandments Sunday, when churches
across America would emphasize the Ten Commandments in their
services that day. 3ABN was invited to participate, and Danny Shelton
saw a great opportunity to point people all over the world to God’s
often forgotten Law of Love, the Ten Commandments.
The results have been astounding. Over 6 million copies of the
book Ten Commandments Twice Removed by Danny Shelton and
Shelley Quinn have been distributed. Two Ten Commandments
Weekends have been broadcast live around the world from Washington, D.C., and Chicago, Illinois, then re-aired numerous times.
Over 30 pastors have started keeping the seventh-day Sabbath of the
Bible—the day that God Himself instituted at Creation and again at
Mt. Sinai, as a sign of ownership and a perpetual memorial of His
Creation. They’ve discovered a new joy, and several have successfully
changed their churches over to Sabbath-keeping congregations!
Because of the enormous popularity of both our Spring Camp
Meeting and Ten Commandments Weekend, this year we decided to
join them together into one magnificent event, with one of the finest
lineups of speakers we’ve ever had. We’ll be broadcasting this entire
event live—even the seminars held during the day!
If you can be with us in person, you’ll find an even
greater blessing as you visit with our presenters and
all of the 3ABN team. You’ll see old friends, and make
new ones!
But if you can’t be here, be sure to mark May 28 on

rian Hamilton had just
two days under his belt
as our new chief financial officer when he sat down
to talk to us about what had
brought him to Three Angels
Broadcasting Network. His calm

talked to him, we quickly realized he has a pastor’s heart.
Born to missionary parents,
Brian spent six years of his
young life in Pakistan where
his mother taught nursing and
his father was a school principal.
“I had a wonderful Seventh6

through college and graduate
school,” he says. “After school I
got a job with Marathon Oil, but
I was never comfortable in this
secular environment. The way
business was conducted—the
social drinking and all that—
was not me. So I quit that position, and we sold our home and
invested that money to further
my education.
“My heart was really in
church work, and I had always
wanted to be a pastor,” he says,
candidly. “After completing a
bachelor’s degree in business
administration, I went on to
earn a master’s in divinity from
the seminary at Andrews University. I pastored for five years
in the Michigan Conference of
Seventh-day Adventists, where
I was ordained. That experience
really developed me in terms
of understanding local church

dynamics, as well as the interaction between the church and the
local conference organization.
It also gave me skills in public
speaking, which I’ve found to
be a real blessing.”
After serving as a pastor,
Brian began working as an associate treasurer for the Michigan
Conference, later moving to
Wisconsin where he held the
secretary and treasurer’s position for nine years. He’s spent
the last three years in treasury,
and most recently as associate
director of the human resources
department for the Southern
California Conference in Glendale, California.
But how did he hear about
3ABN?
“While we were living in
Michigan, we met Danny Shelton,” he says. “I remember him
singing at the Berrien Springs
Village Church, where we were

members. Then my wife and I
began to hear about his plans
to build a television station that
would reach the world. We felt
the Lord’s hand was on this
ministry from its inception.
Since then, we’ve watched the
miracles unfold, and it’s been
truly incredible!

“Our call here originated
a year and a half ago, when
my brother-in-law purchased
some Ten Commandments Twice
Removed books to distribute.
Somehow he ended up speaking
with Larry Ewing, 3ABN’s CFO
at the time, and for some reason,
he mentioned my name. He told
Larry that we were enthusiastic
3ABN supporters, and that we
3ABN World May 2008
were working in California, but
missing the Midwest, where we
had lived for many years. Larry
wrote my name and number
on a note, and it sat on his desk
for over a year. I was unaware
of all of this until I received a
call from 3ABN’s president,
Jim Gilley, after Larry and his
wife decided to move back to
Canada.
“My wife Diane and I feel
that 3ABN is an important tool,
and the Lord is using it to touch
the entire world with the three
angels’ messages. It reaches peo-
ple in their own homes, and in
an unobtrusive way.
“I feel very privileged to be
called to join this ministry,” he
continues. “It’s humbling, exciting, and even a little scary to be
part of something as dynamic as
this. 3ABN has grown from very
humble beginnings to a major
media network, and as it grows,
it’s natural to experience growth
pains, both in the financial and
administration arenas. Having
been administratively involved
in three different church conferences, I hope to bring my
experience in financial administration to help at 3ABN.”
Brian is quick to praise his
predecessor. “Larry Ewing has
put together a nice team of
people, and I’m delighted that
3ABN has excellent accounting
software and practices in place.
Larry’s done a marvelous job,
and although I’ve been here only
a short while, I’m impressed!
“I want to do my part to help
fulfill God’s vision for this ministry,” he says. “I want to see
3ABN continue forward with a
spirit of sacrifice. We must also
be willing to step out in faith,
because this has always been
a faith ministry. As we have
done that, the Lord has always
rewarded us. We need to keep
focused on our vision to spread
the undiluted three angels’ message of Revelation 14 in all its
facets, to all the world.
“Counteracting the counterfeit—that’s the vision God
gave Danny Shelton. Satan has
a counterfeit for everything, but
God wants people to know the
truth, and not be deluded by the
counterfeit.”
When we asked him about the
move from southern California
to southern Illinois, he smiles.
“Coming from Los Angeles, it’s
wonderful to have a little open
space,” he says. “We do have
to watch for deer now, but we
don’t have to worry about traffic
jams. Our friends in California
jokingly ask us how we can trust
air we can’t see,” he says with a
chuckle, “and they worry about
our safety when it comes to raccoon and opossum stampedes.
One friend said he was worried that we weren’t going to
have enough meditation time,
because we didn’t have any rush
hour traffic!”
Brian and Diane have two
grown sons, a lovely daughterin-law, and two adorable grandchildren. “We love being closer
to the grandchildren, who live
in Rockford, Illinois.”
If he finds any spare time,
Brian says he enjoys woodworking, home remodeling,
and especially reading material
that helps him come to know
God better. “Diane loves her
grandkids more than anything,
but also enjoys her flower beds
and quilting,” he says.
We are blessed to have this
couple with us, and look forward
to their contribution to God’s
ministry. Won’t you pray for
them as they start their new life
here at 3ABN? We believe that
God has called them to this ministry for such a time as this.

E
arly in 2005, Pastor John
Lomacang and his wife
Angela visited the Fairfield, California, Seventh-day
Adventist church for a homecoming event. When Michael
Settle and his wife, Jan Yankee,
heard they would be there, they
decided to attend the celebration
and visit old friends. Michael felt
impressed by the Holy Spirit to
write a note asking Angela if
she knew of any teaching jobs
available anywhere. At church,
Angela told Jan that the Thompsonville Christian School on
3ABN’s campus was in need
of a kindergarten teacher, and
encouraged her to apply for the
position.
Although Jan had reservations about moving so far east—
leaving her family and going to
a colder climate—she did apply,
and they both came here for her
interview. The board offered her

the job, she accepted, and the
kids love her!
When Michael and Jan arrived
in Thompsonville, they stayed
with their friends, Dick and
Ellie Hutchinson, whom they
knew from the Fairfield church.
The Hutchinsons had moved
here earlier as volunteers. Soon
Michael and Jan bought a house,
and while the church was helping them move, Jay Christian,
our 3ABN Radio production
manager, asked Michael to come
to his office to talk about the
possibility of working for 3ABN
Radio. Martha Weber, one of our
production assistants, was leaving to attend college full time,
and we were faced with being
short-handed. God’s timing!
Michael’s experience is in
accounting and tax preparation,
with audio and radio on the side.
But his heart is in his music. He
plays the piano by ear and sings
bass or baritone—depending on
whether he’s singing alone or
with a group. He’s been a member of several quartets over the
years—all with no formal music
training.
“I get my musical ability from
my mom,” Michael laughs, and
adds, “She sings and plays the
piano and the organ, and my dad
plays the tape recorder!”
Michael Settle has learned
to wear many hats, as most of
us at 3ABN Radio do. He’s one
of the people responsible for
producing and recording our
interview program, Crossroads
on 3ABN Radio. He also serves
as one of the recording engineers for those who come to do
promos for 3ABN Radio. He
also edits and prepares all the
programs we receive from outside sources, as well as making
the 3ABN television newsbreaks
radio-friendly. Using his dis
tinctive voice, he not
only does voice-over
(announcer) work
for the network, but
also for the Thompsonville Seventh-day
Adventist Church
on our flagship radio station,
WDQN 95.9 FM.
Michael has played music
for 3ABN television production use, and sometimes helps
with brainstorming, regarding
music for programs and promos
on 3ABN Radio. He’s also active
in local churches, singing and
playing the piano for special
music. Whew!
Michael just smiles and says,
“I thank God we’re here. We’re
having a great time!”
Praise the Lord for letting
Michael “settle” at 3ABN Radio.

“A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, ‘Come
over to Macedonia and help us….’ Immediately we sought to go to
Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the
gospel to them.” Acts 16:9, 10.
A
fter Paul received this
message, he knew that it
was time to go to Macedonia to preach the gospel. But
even today, you may be surprised
to hear that a similar call is coming from an unexpected place.
A couple of months ago we
visited a prison in Mexico, and
my first impression was how
crowded it was! I was disturbed
by the thought that this prison
was full of men who have tried
everything to fill the void in
their lives—voids that can never
be satisfied by the things of this
world. It reminded me once again
that people need the Lord!
We were there to see Geovani
Roman López, who was deceived

into driving a stolen car, and
then arrested and charged with
vehicular theft. For three long
months he’d been awaiting his
trial, but there was something
different about him. You see,
Geovani is a Christian, and we
could tell in a moment that he
didn’t belong there.
Tears filled his eyes as he told
us how hard it was being in jail,
separated from his wife and
baby. “But I don’t ask the Lord
why this has happened to me
anymore,” he said. “I just ask
Him to please show me the reason I’m here.”
Next he told us how God has
been using him to help others,
and how they’ve come to talk to
him, adding, “I am so grateful
that God can use me, even here
in prison.”
Geovani confided that the
day before, the prisoners in his
building nearly united in a riot,
determined to overpower the
guards and escape. There was
anger and excitement in the
air, but as he began to earnestly
pray for God to calm everyone
down, unexplainably, he heard
them comment, “I’m going back
to my cell.”
Geovani was sure that God
stopped them from hurting the
guards and each other. It was
a dangerous situation, and the
potential for bloodshed and murder was very real. He explained
the great need to bring the gospel to the inmates. “Unless we
reach them while they are there,
the majority of them will return
to a life of crime.”
Since then I’ve
received the good
news that Geovani
was released, and
is now reunited
with his family.
But the burden of reaching
those inmates has not left me.
I believe that people need the
Lord!
Last year we were presented
with an opportunity to make
3ABN Latino available in all the
prisons in Mexico. Although a
few obstacles still stand in the
way, we believe that God’s will
is for these prisoners to be set
free from sin, saved through the
blood of Jesus Christ!
From the prisons of this
world comes the Macedonian
cry, “Come and help us,” and we
want to respond to their desperate cry. Please remember us in
your prayers.

he t rage dy in Kenya
grabbed headlines around
the world as looters set fire
to billions of dollars of property
during the recent post-election
violence. But even as hundreds
of thousands were driven from
their homes and jobs, God was

western Kenya.

ing place in Kenya these days,
what an opportunity this is to
reach out with the three angels’
messages—which are the love
letters from Jesus Christ to our
world in these last days,” says
3ABN President, Jim Gilley, as
he expressed his concern for the
people of that country.
“I truly believe the timing of
the Kisii radio station going on
the air was providential,” adds
3ABN General Manager, Mollie Steenson. “It humbles all of
us to see God use this ministry
to bring His healing truths to a
nation in turmoil.”
Enoch Mogusu, a faithful
3ABN supporter, reflected the
excitement of those who had
worked so hard to get this FM
station on the air: “For the last
five days we have been busy
moving from territory to territory in the four corners of this
part of the world, testing the signal,” he wrote. “We are delighted
to report that millions of
people are receiving 3ABN
Radio as far as 200 kilometers [125 miles] away
from the transmission center. We praise the Lord for
this great blessing for the
people of Kenya as they
recover from the post-election violence.”
Enoch says their call
desk received hundreds
of phone calls from as far
away as the northern part
of Tanzania, and much of
the Lake Victoria basin.
He also shared the excitement of
the church leaders who had been
praying for this project. “Praise
God, what a delight,” said Pastor
Geoffrey Mbwana, the president
of the East Central African Division of Seventh-day Adventists.
“Please pass my personal greetings to all listeners, and a big
congratulations to all who made
this possible.”

Deocades was baptizing Mrs.
Maria Theresa de Asis, and after
the baptism, she happily shared
her testimony with 3ABN World

a college student she attended

Mormon churches, before making a decision for baptism in the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints. But that was not the
end of her journey. She drifted
away from her Mormon beliefs,
and later returned to Catholicism. Then, after marrying and
having a family, she became a
born-again Christian, joining
the Lord’s Lamp Stand Church,

where she stayed for the next
18 years.
Maria Theresa retired last
year as a branch operating officer
in Metro Bank, one of the largest
banks in the Philippines. She
and her husband have four children, and because her husband’s
job required him to be out of
town most of the time, he tried
to spend as much quality time
with them as possible when he
returned.
“When he was home, he
would spend his time playing
basketball, or bowling,” she says.
“I busied myself with church
work, and got involved by ushering, women’s ministries, evangelism, and attending crusades.
But my secular job required eight
hours of work on weekdays, and
left no time for my children,”
she adds. With her promotions
came higher responsibilities, and
little by little, she withdrew from
church ministry.
“I seldom had time for fellowship,” she says, “and I was no
longer consistent with my prayer
life. I felt I was on a roller coaster
ride, with so many problems at
the office, and at home. I had a
difficult time dealing with my
children, and I had no one to

talk to. I felt so helpless. I would
cry my heart out to the Lord
at night, seeking His face,” she
continues. “I would beg Him to
restore to me the joy of salvation,
to help me discover my gift, and
to lead me to the ministry where
He wanted me to serve. I desperately needed to be restored back
to His fold!”
Depressed, and torn by her
emotions, Maria Theresa felt she
was the most miserable person
in the world. On weekends her
children would go out with their
friends while she stayed home
alone watching television. That’s
when she discovered 3ABN!
“What caught my attention
was the end of a program,” she
says. “I happened to glance at
the credits, and the first one
read, ‘Supreme Provider—Jesus
Christ.’ I said to myself, Wow!
This is the only program on TV
that acknowledges the name
of Jesus Christ as the Supreme
Provider! And from then on,
every time I watched TV, it was
3ABN.”

Soon Maria Theresa contacted the local 3ABN Bacolod
offices, which gave her several
books written by Seventh-day
Adventist pioneer Ellen White.
“The things I’d never understood before became clearer
because of those books,” she
says, “and then I began attending
the Sabbath worship services.”
I was speaking during the Sabbath Worship Service last year at
the Bacolod Central Seventhday Adventist Church when

first service there. She told me,
“The Adventists were very warm
and sincere, and before long I
requested Bible studies. I still
kept attending my old church,
as well, and one day the Lord led
me to share what I’d been learning with two of my best friends.
Sadly, instead of welcoming the
message, they warned me to
stop viewing 3ABN, saying I was
being misled by their teaching!
Then they blamed me for not
informing our pastor of this.
“I felt stunned by their reaction! I was bothered for days, and
it robbed me of sleep. One night
a terrible mental anguish came
upon me. I felt powerful forces
tugging me from both sides.
Later, I realized this happened
as two groups interceded for me:
one made up of my friends at my
former church, and the other my
Adventist friends.”
The following day, she talked
to her pastor, asking him why
they worshipped on Sunday,
when the Bible clearly states they
must keep the Sabbath. “I think
we’re disobeying God’s law!” she
said, to which he responded, “We
are now in New Testament times,
and are no longer under the law,
but under grace. The command
to keep the Sabbath holy applied
only to the Jews because they
were slaves,” he continued. “They
were required to rest from their
work on the seventh-day Sabbath

so that they could focus on what
God had done for them. But as
Christians we keep Sunday holy
because we’re celebrating the
Lord’s resurrection.”
He quoted several Bible verses
to support his claim, and then
moved on to her other questions.
“But deep in my heart, I already
had the answer,” she says.
The next Sunday, her pastor urged his congregation to
attend their midweek prayer
meetings, and then used his time
to emphasize their belief in the
“once saved, always saved” theory, along with his reasons for
not observing the seventh-day
Sabbath. But nothing matched
the in-depth knowledge about
the Bible she felt she was getting
through 3ABN.
Finally, she sent a text message
to her pastor. “Brother Ricky, I
choose to obey the commandments of God and to have the
faith of Jesus.”
“What do you mean?” he
replied.
“I’ve decided to join the Seventh-day Adventist Church,”
she messaged back. “I’ve never
learned as much as I have in this
church. Please discover it for
yourself through 3ABN. They
are not a cult. They’re a church
that teaches the whole counsel
of God, and they’re bringing
the gospel to the whole world
in these last days.
“My last words to him were,
‘The truth will set us free!’ And
it did set me free!”
Maria Theresa came to us
in a marvelous way through
3ABN. Today, she is a faithful
member of our church, and she’s
actively involved in sharing her
newfound faith, especially with
her husband and children. We
are praying that her family will
soon join the family of God.

Nutritious
Green Breakfast Shake
“This highly nutritious shake
is based on mostly raw,
unprocessed foods, selected
for freedom from genetic
manipulation and overproduction, and for a wide range
of mineral and vitamin content,” says Cindy. “My husband
and I have this for breakfast
almost every morning, and it
takes less than ten minutes
to make.”

or those of you who would like
a quick and nutritious breakfast shake, here’s a great recipe
from Cindy Clark, our Engineering
Department secretary.
Green Breakfast Shake

department.
• 1¼ cup (½ can) pineapple chunks in pineapple juice
(no sugar added)
• ¼ cup raw sunflower seeds
• ¼ cup ground flaxseed
• 2 T. cold-pressed flaxseed oil
• 1 T. lecithin
• ½ cup parsley
• ½ cup spinach
• 1 cup apple or pineapple juice
• 1 banana
Optional: Mix and match the following for taste and variety: almonds
(for a more chewy, spooned shake), mint leaves, apples, cherries,
strawberries, blueberries.
Blend all ingredients, cold where possible, at high speed. This makes
it highly digestible and releases the chlorophyll in the greens. Makes
2–4 servings, depending on your appetite.
Tips: Ingredient amounts can be varied for desired taste and consistency. Liquid volume can be changed to range from a spooned
shake to a quick drink. Fresh greens are great, but frozen ones are
a lot easier to use. Fresh parsley in bulk can be washed, dried, and
frozen for easy use, as well. Flaxseed must be ground fresh in a
coffee grinder just before use. I even keep the cans of pineapple in
the refrigerator to keep them cold. Make only what you will consume immediately as it will not keep beyond 24 hours at the most.
Remember: It’s important to have a substantial breakfast!

Would you give your
last few dollars?
I
can’t count the number of
times I’ve seen the sign. It
always seems to be there
at the most inopportune time,
looming unavoidably like a skyscraper in front of me.
“Will Work For FOOD.”
There have been times, I must
confess, when my heart was
divided. As I looked at the person, I would start analyzing
their situation, motives, and
what they might have done to
put themselves in this predicament. When I did this, I missed
the most important part—their
need.

“Inasmuch as you did it to
one of the least of these My
brethren, you did it to Me.” Matthew 25:40.
It was during one of these
times that God spoke to my
heart. What if it were you?
I tried to picture what it
would be like living hand-tomouth. No home, no security,
one day dissolving into the next,
as the years of my life passed
on aimlessly into eternity. At
that moment, I resolved to do
what I could to help, without
judging the motives of the one
in need.
Through these chosen opportunities God allows me to be
His love in action. Think about
it for a moment. The King of
the universe wants you and me
to be part of His plan to bring
help and hope to someone who
may never know the comforts
we enjoy every day!
This situation can reveal the
motives of our hearts. Most of
us have more than we need, but
when it comes to giving our last
few dollars, we hold back like
we will never earn another one
again. We’re afraid that if we give,
we will be the one in need!
Our Father in Heaven knows
all our needs. He blesses us so
we, in turn, can bless others.
Then He waits to see if our hearts
will respond to His plea to help
the helpless.
The next time you see someone in need, ask God to let you
see them through His eyes.
When we do this, we stop questioning why they are there, and
begin to see the real need. As
we lift their burdens, others will
see Him.
We can never out-give the
One who gave everything for
us.

was not an easy one. “Once again,
God amazes me with His perfect timing,” said Moses Primo,
3ABN Director of Broadcasting
and Engineering. “The license for
this radio station was granted a

year ago,” he says, “and although
God provided for the construction of the transmitter building
and tower through the labor of
local volunteers, we didn’t have
the funds for the transmitter and
antenna, which are the very heart
of any radio station. But after an
appeal to our faithful viewers and
listeners during a behind-thescenes program, we began to see
a tremendous response. It was
amazing, because we received
all the funds we needed in just a
few weeks!”
Moses added that if we had
lost this permit, we would have
lost the confidence of the government of Kenya to grant us future
television and radio licenses in
other cities around the country.
“I praise God for providing faithful viewers and listeners that
have caught the vision of spreading the good news,” he adds.
Enoch summed up his e-mail
with, “Praises! Praises! Praises!
Blessings!”

We are, too! Soon the numbers
of heaven will be swelling with
the precious souls who have been
redeemed by the blood of Christ
since being introduced to Him
through this new station!
