Convention 2007
The Expert Forum for
Composite Lightweight
Construction
New Construction Methods,
Processes and Technologies
Conference and Exhibition
Program
13-14 June 2007
Stadeum, Stade
(Germany)
Christian Wulff
Prime Minister of Lower Saxony
Walter Hirche
Minister for Economics, Labour and
Transport of Lower Saxony
What we do today plays a decisive role in the
state of tomorrow’s technology. Those wanting
to follow current progress in new CFRP system solutions should not miss the opportunity
to participate in the CFK-Valley Convention.
With CFK-Valley Stade and a concerted cooperation between the economy, researchand economic
policy in the region of Stade it has been possible to
achieve one of the largest pan-European concentrations of technology potential in the target field
of carbon fiber lightweight construction.
CFK-Valley Stade has become a significant
strategic component for the aviation area of
Lower Saxony. The objective of our work with
carbon fiber composite materials is to advance
the application of lightweight construction
materials beyond the field aviation. A bridging
to the automobile industry - an essential
sector for Lower Saxony - has already been
achieved.
2 Greetings
A strong networking of science and economy
plays a vital role. This has already been
successfully realized with CFK-Valley Stade.
The innovation management of competency
partners on location is decisive. Being better
than the competition is key to more economic
growth and, simultaneously, is the source for
a large number of new and highly qualified
jobs.
The first CFK-Valley Stade Convention shows
how attractive Lower Saxony is as an innovation and high-tech location. I would be pleased
to see active participation in the Convention
and am sure that this event will give you the
opportunity to establish productive contacts.
Christian Wulff,
Prime Minister of Lower Saxony
Jump-start financing from the government
- based on the principle “help for self help” created a momentum through CFK-Valley Stade
e. V. that has led to profitable economic process
to the benefit of all parties. Over 60 national and
international partners have pooled their complementary achievement potential on location up to
now and, with that, have established a concentration of innovation and development force along the
entire value-added chain.
As a result, over 350 new jobs have been created
through CFK-Valley alone. By 2010, 150 additional jobs are expected to be created through
settlements that have already been planned and
by expansions from national and international
members of the network.
In addition, the state government supports the
further development of infrastructure and competency in the education, training and qualification of specialists at the university. More than 50
future CFRP engineers have been studying since
the winter semester 2006 as part of a worldwide
unique Master and Bachelor course of studies
for "Verbundwerkstoffe / Composites" with close
relations to the industry.
On the basis of such great measures of success,
CFK-Valley Stade can definitely be referred to as
a best practice for successful public private partnership.
Walter Hirche, Minister for Economics, Labour
and Transport of Lower Saxony
3 Greetings
The government of Lower Saxony particularly
supports and promotes developments in key
and future technologies. With the CFK-Valley
Stade and the Convention, we have created
here in Lower Saxony a groundbreaking competency of lightweight construction.

Stade has a lot to offer. No wonder, with a
history of over one thousand years! History
that can be seen not only in museums, but
also living history that can be experienced
in the beautifully renovated old town.
Stade, the town on the Schwinge, has continued to develop as a cultural centre of the
Elbe-Weser Triangle since the completion of
the STADEUM culture and congress centre
in 1989. The secret of the avant-garde
building's success is the effective synthesis
of atmosphere, experience, organisation,
and engineering.

with a particularly high degree of innovation in CFRP
lightweight construction will be bestowed for the first
time at the CFK-Valley Stade Convention.
All firms and institutes participating at the CFK-Valley
Stade Convention are eligible to apply for this grant.
Research and engineering performances that make
particularly innovative contributions to the development
of materials and processes for marketable carbon-fiber
reinforced composite structures are included in the evaluation process.
The laureate will be determined by CFK-Valley Stade e. V.
steering board and a representative of the Lower Saxony
government. The deadline for entries is 18 May 2007.
Further information and application forms can be found
on the Internet at www.cfk-valley.com.
Walter Hirche, Minister of Economic Affairs of Lower
Saxony, will present the award on 13 June 2007 at 15:30.

in Europa.
Hochschulen zusammenarbeiten.

With a branch network stretching across Germany, RKM
has been one of the main human resources suppliers in the
country since 1978.
Specialising in the aerospace and aviation sector, the
automotive industry and wind-power installations, it is at the
forefront of highly promising innovations and excellent growth
prospects.
Composite fibre technology is gaining increasingly in
importance in these industries. RKM recognised this trend many
years ago. Today, more than 400 RKM staff are working in the
field of composite fibre technology.
Skilled workers in composite fibres are just as likely to be found
at RKM as the foreman or the plastics engineer.
It is also important that the personnel used are familiar with
the very latest developments in their field. We achieve that by
offering tailored advanced training courses at all levels.
