Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter of hunting,
fishing and outdoor gear, opened in Hoffman Estates
in October 2007 near I-90 and Route 59 in the
Prairie Stone Business Park. This 185,000-square-foot
retail showroom is an educational and entertainment
attraction featuring a décor of museum-quality
animal displays, huge aquariums and trophy animals
interacting in realistic recreations of their natural
habitats. As well as showcasing wildlife native to
Illinois and North America, the Hoffman Estates
store features a fascinating African diorama,
including cape buffalo, white rhino, lion and other
game, which educates adults and children alike
through an accurate recreation depicting life on the
African plain.
The store’s vast, sunlit interior is punctuated by
its centerpiece, a 26-foot-tall Conservation
Mountain with a trout pond, running waterfalls,
streams and even a beaver dam. The mountain’s
ponds run on the same recycled filter system as
Cabela’s aquariums.
The mountain features dozens of wild game mounts
in their distinct habitats, including sheep, mountain
goats, mountain lion, caribou, antelope, coyote,
American elk, wolverines, wolves, musk ox, mule
deer and whitetail deer. Smaller North American
animals include bobcat, fox, otter, beaver, muskrat,
badger and a variety of grouse and quail. The twostory Conservation Mountain also sports an array
of bears and moose from Alaska, the Yukon
Territory, Wyoming and Canada.
Cabela’s stores are also known for their huge
walk-through aquariums. The Hoffman Estates
store features an aquarium that is 16,000 gallons
comprised of two separate tanks stocked with
freshwater fish indigenous to the region.

The Sears Centre Arena is an 11,500-seat
multi-purpose family entertainment, cultural
and sports center. Seating capacity for the
arena ranges from 3,000 to 6,000 for theater
productions; 9,500 for hockey, arena football,
lacrosse and soccer games; 10,000 for basketball;
and 11,500 for “center stage” concerts.
The Sears Centre Arena is situated within the
Prairie Stone Business Park immediately north
of I-90, west of Route 59. There are two convenient exits from the Tollway to easily access
the arena – Illinois Route 59 and Beverly Road.

The arena has 43 luxury suites, 26 loge boxes
and 1,000 club seats. The facility features a
private club for the club seat area and two suite
lounges on the private concourse. On-site

Tattoo, the only musical
Tattoo of its

Midwest. What
is a Tattoo? The
Tattoo, a signal
sounded on a drum
or bugle, was used
to summon soldiers
or sailors to their
quarters at night.
That began the
tradition of
today’s Tattoo,
which is a
celebration
of international
music and
dance honoring cultures from
around the world. The Tattoo
will dazzle spectators with
more than 250 musicians, singers and entertainers that include both military and civilian
brass bands, drum corps, wind bands, bagpipe bands, drill teams, flag corps and an
array of dancers. The Tattoo will kick off
with a parade celebrating “Tartan Day,”
which is a rich brocade comprised of a
thread from every nation represented in the
vast cultural diversity of Hoffman Estates.
