Florist of the Month: Floral Arts Studio
I met Brita Edlbauer, owner of Floral Arts Studio, at my first CFFA meeting about one year ago. It was held at Matterns Floral Wholesale and Brita was the designer that night. I remember her saying that she didn’t really start her floral design
career until age 50. She is amazing and very gifted in the floral design world!
Brita really likes contemporary design and has a strong pull towards the European Natural Design Style. She enjoys
teaching floral design and feels that there is a need for education in this field. Education is the way to make a difference
between professional florist and supermarket vendors.
Some of her recent accomplishments were at the FSFA convention in St. Petersburg where she won the Sunshine
Cup and the Designer of the Year. It would be great if more designers took part in all the fun things that CFFA and FSFA have
to offer, not only competitions but to take advantage of all the scholarships that are available from these associations and from
the national AIFD. She loves her choice of career and always looks forward to seeing the talent that designers present at the
shows that are offered. She tries not to miss any of the meetings - each time she learns something new.
Brita says her largest challenge was arranging 300 stems of 7foot tall red roses in one container. The stems were like

Central Florida Florist Association (CFFA)
The July meeting was held at The Gaylord Palms Hotel. I will tell you, the pictures
will do it no justice! All the plants and the container designs that they use are just sensational! If you’ve never been there it is well worth taking an hour or two just to drive down
that way to give yourself a break. Walk around the premises and you will feel refreshed.
You will feel like you have spent time at a tropical resort in the middle of Central Florida!
The food and meeting was very good. There were four stations with many different
delicacies. There were so many designers with ingenious “vegative” designs. Being a judge, picking a
winner was definitely a TOUGH decision! The winner was Norma Charles, please see picture……..
The next meeting will be held on August 11, 2009 at Mattern Wholesale Florist, Orlando. FTD Design show “Pristine Parties” Presented by Jeff Corbin.
