Welcome!
T A B L E O F C ONT E NT S
I am delighted to welcome you to Boston for ADHA’s 2013 Center
for Lifelong Learning at the 90th Annual Session—a celebration a
century in the making! “100 Years of Dental Hygiene: Proud Past,
Unlimited Future” is our yearlong recognition of the founding of the
dental hygiene profession by Dr. Alfred C. Fones in 1913. In fact, the
founding occurred a mere 150 miles from this convention center in
Bridgeport, Connecticut.
This week acknowledges the past, but it pays special attention
to the future. We enter our second century of existence at a time when our country’s health care
is expanding and changing dramatically. Make sure you meet the challenges head on by taking
advantage of our cutting-edge CE courses, and networking with thousands of your colleagues. Our
exhibit hall is brimming with sponsors and exhibitors who have been so generous with their time
to come to Boston, bringing with them the latest in oral care technology and information. Take a
moment to thank them for joining our celebration!
I would also like to thank the Committee on Annual Session and the local volunteers for their
hospitality as well as for volunteering their time and hard work to make this a successful event.
Without dedicated folks like them, we wouldn’t be able to put on this event.
Once again, welcome to Boston! Let’s make this year count, and make the next 100 years as great
as the last!

Welcome from the Committee on Annual Session
It’s summertime in Boston and the hygienists are in town! Welcome to ADHA’s Center for Lifelong Learning at the 90th Annual Session,
and our celebration of 100 years of Dental Hygiene! The Committee on Annual Session is honored that this historic city could host ADHA
on such an auspicious year. When you’re not too busy learning about the past, present and future of dental hygiene, take advantage of the
opportunity to see the past, present and future of a city steeped in American history!
This week’s program features top-of-the-line CE courses, exciting new products and information in the exhibit hall, and plenty of
opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with colleagues from across the country and around the world. Don’t miss the plenary sessions
with Erin Brockovich and Geena Davis, and we hope you have tickets to the IOH Benefit/Presidential Gala featuring Debbie Reynolds.
Fortunately for you, the Hynes Convention Center is located directly downtown, so there are plenty of places to explore!
Hopefully this week will put the great work that you do into perspective, inspiring you to revolutionize our profession and pave the way to
the future. Truly, that is why the ADHA community has come together— to recognize our “Proud Past, Unlimited Future.”
Sincerely,
2013 Committee on Annual Session
