2011 ARCHDIOCESAN ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL BEGINS
PLEASE RESPOND GENEROUSLY TO
CARDINAL GEORGE’S REQUEST
The theme of the 2011 Annual Catholic Appeal is “…seek first the kingdom of God…” (Matthew 6:33). Jesus taught that we are not to worry about
the things of this world. Rather, we are to seek the kingdom of God and the
Father will reward us. God provides all that we have and all that we are. Stewardship, in part, is the recognition of God’s gifts and the obligation to return a
significant portion of our gifts to assist in his work. Our gifts to our parish, to
our Archdiocese and the Church throughout the world are given in gratitude
for what God has given us. A gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal helps to provide education, services, and ministry to thousands within and outside of our
Archdiocese.
The Appeal supports parish ministries that provide religious education
to children, youth and adults in economically disadvantaged communities. It
is also one of the largest philanthropic sources of financial support for Catholic schools in the Archdiocese. The Appeal also funds services that are of great
help to the ministries here in our parish.

The Congregation of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ began in Paris, France, on
February 17, 1836, under the leadership of Bogdan Janski. After the death of the founder on July 2,
1840, his disciples under the direction of Peter Semenenko and Jerome Kajsiewicz, the co-founders
of the Congregation, continued to develop his ideas and to live in community. On Easter Sunday,
March 27, 1842, along with five other clerics, they professed their first religious vows in the
Catacombs of St. Sebastian in Rome. The first Rule was written during the Lenten season of 1842
and became the basis for community life and personal sanctification. They were inspired to
dedicate themselves to the Risen Savior and to call themselves the “Brothers of the Resurrection”.
They were now dead to sin and alive with the Risen Christ in a new life dedicated to truth and
charity.

helping to share His Gospel message through our financial support of the 2011 Annual Catholic Appeal of our Archdiocese.
We pray to the Lord,”
WHAT OUR KIDS LEARNED ABOUT THE FIRST
COMMANDMENT
“I am the Lord, your God. You shall have
no other Gods beside me.”
To me it means to always put God before me, my friends,
and my family.
Jesus Leon (Confirmation)
I think it means we should respect God and only God. We
shall not have other Gods. Also we should have a good
relationship with God. We should also pray to God.
Angelica Solis (Confirmation)
This commandment means that I should pray to God. This
also means that their should not be two Gods only one God
that is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Marcos (Confirmation)
I think it means respect people. Always put God first, not
anything else more than him.
Melanie (Pre-Communion)
Love nothing more than one God. Do NOT put money,
friends, fame, or heroes first.
Natalie Gomez (Pre-Communion)

COMIENZA LA CAMPAÑA CATÓLICA ANUAL
ARQUIDIOCESANA 2011
Por favor responda con generosidad a la
carta del Cardenal George
ROZPOCZYNA SIĘ DOROCZNA KWESTA
KATOLICKA 2011
Prosimy o szczodrą odpowiedź na apel
Kardynała George’a
Nuestros obsequios a nuestra parroquia,
zapewnia nam wszystko czym jesteśmy i czego
potrzebujemy.
Podstawą
prawdziwego
obowiązkiem jest zwrócić część tych darów, by
wykształcenia, przygotowania i opracowania
programów pomocy, wreszcie stanowią wsparcie
dla duszpasterstwa ubogim wielu tysiącom osób w
naszej archidiecezji, a nawet poza jej granicami.
