The annual conference of Resort Brokers salespeople was
held in the Caboose Hotel (seen
in recent sales to the right) in
Taupo this year. We were privileged with the presence of Ian
Crooks (founder and Managing
Director of Resort Brokers Australia) along with Jenny
McGarvey. We enjoyed sharing
time with each other and discussing ways of making your
job easier when it come time to sell.

Resort Brokers Australia was established in Australia
in 1985 by Kiwi Ian Crooks who had run a successful
Brokerage Business in New Zealand since 1975. Ian
changed the face of Motel Brokerage in Australia by
introducing the splitting of business and freehold into
two parts, allowing an enormous increase in the base
of buyers for the product. Ian built a large personal
business based around his infinite knowledge of the
industry. In the last 5 years Resort Brokers has grown
in both size and product base and are now recognised
as the most prominent and successful brokerage of its
kind in the Pacific Rim. The Company has staff of over
60 personnel with offices from the Northern Territory
in the North to Adelaide in the South.
We have recently come to an arrangement with Hotel
Brokers International who is an organisation based in
the United States consisting of some 35 companies
from coast to coast. They control as much as 60% of
the Hotel/Motel market and effectively mirror the market that Resort Brokers New Zealand & Australia specialise in. Hotel Brokers International is showing a
very keen interest in New Zealand and we will make
sure that the key people in their organisation receive
all information about our listings.
Our whole philosophy is that of winning sole agencies
with correct marketing plans so that we can ensure
the widest and most appropriate exposure leading to a
successful sale in the shortest timeframe possible.
We are dedicated to pleasing our vendors – not just
getting the deal. We live off our reputations and we

and we currently boast 8 salespeople – finally with a
