Mountain biking is still relatively young. Most folks can still
remember riding rigid bikes on terrain that would be a challenge
on fully suspended rigs. The number of technology revolutions
in this sport over such a short span is quite astounding. However,
the introduction of suspension to mountain biking remains the
single most important.
Nothing links a rider to a bike more than suspension. It’s almost
as important as geometry and fit. The ability to tune a ride based
on personal preference and terrain is paramount to how a bike
performs. The problem is that for most riders, and even shop
wrenches, suspension is perceived as somewhat of a “Pandora’s
