Welcome from the CMH President
Welcome to a celebration of “Crusaders Around the World!”
More than a theme, it is a statement of accomplishment and a goal in a Catholic
Memorial High School education. This May, when CMH sends our 12,000th graduate
into the world, they will join a long line of successful stories of alumni who have studied,
worked, and volunteered in all parts of the world.
In recent years, with CMH’s premiere offerings in International Baccalaureate, Project
Lead the Way, and our Memorial Propel™ innovation teaching model, the world has
increasingly been coming to us and as each year goes by, we have an increasing
international student body. This year we welcome students representing eight countries –
and more showing interest.
In the ever-changing global economy, Crusaders are better prepared than ever before,
and far better prepared than students from any other school. We stay connected by
social media, share a great history of experiences, and are bonded together – no matter
how far flung – as the CMH family.
Have a wonderful celebration tonight! Allow it to be a joyous moment of thankfulness for
what CMH has done for you, your children and this community. Thank you to the staff of
the Development Office, the Auction Planning team, and all of the volunteers tonight.
Most importantly, thanks to you for the generous support you have shown in the past,
tonight, and into the future!
Our Lady of Memorial, pray for us!
Very Reverend Paul B. R. Hartmann ’84, President
6
Our Kids.
Our Future.
A Letter from the Principal
I am continually awed by the generosity and support given by the Catholic Memorial
community in support of our mission to educate, guide and prepare our students.
Your charitable spirit truly impacts the ability of our faculty to fulfill our academic goals
created to achieve the Vision 2020 plan for 21st Century excellence! In my seven years
as principal, your generosity has enabled me and the faculty to expand the Academic
Resource Center, the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Career Program,
Project Lead the Way (Engineering, Computer Science, and Biomedical), the Learning
Commons, and Student Growth Plans.
Most recently, your efforts are helping our faculty continue to implement Memorial
Propel™, an innovation processes designed to energize student thinking and teach
creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. The beginning of this
semester recognized the addition of our Innovation Wing, an environment to support all
students in active learning and innovative teamwork. Your support of these efforts and
our work bring experts from local Catholic universities and community businesses to
guide our faculty in faith formation and educational strategies.
You are our partners in helping Catholic Memorial students reach increasingly
high standards of success. In the school’s history, the current CMH students have
accomplished the highest ACT average, the most IB diploma candidates, has 25% of the
student body pursuing a STEM elective, and has more students than ever committed
to service. Your active participation in tonight’s event moves Vision 2020 forward by
providing a portion of the funds to raise standards in all academic programs, increase
faculty development with college and business partners and introduce students to
innovation processes, entrepreneurship, and career planning that will define CMH as the
premier choice for all families who value the gift of Catholic Education.
InPro is proud to sponsor the
Catholic Memorial High School Crusader Auction
Many thanks again to all who have sponsored, donated, volunteered and are present
tonight. It is wonderful to share this celebration with you. I offer special thanks to the
entire Auction committee for their endless energy in creating, “Crusaders Around the
World.”
Enjoy your evening and many blessings!
Sincerely,
INTERIOR AND E X TERIOR

John Asaro is a world renowned artist known for his colorful and light-filled paintings. Asaro studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California from 1955
to 1958. He next attended the Art Students League in New York in 1959 studying
with Frank Reilly. Asaro worked as an illustrator in Detroit, Los Angeles, and New
York City from 1960 to 1973. The artist returned to Art Center College of Design as
in instructor of painting until 1981 when Asaro decided to devote himself to his own
fine art. “Alive in a world tolerant of eclecticism and skeptical of traditional values,
John Asaro’s paintings are an anomaly. His canvases, like zealous missionaries,
speak clearly and colorfully of life, are both expressionistic and concise, pragmatic
and technically adventurous.” His art is collected and sold nationally at galleries
around the country.
