Press Kit - Daisy Grant
Daisy Grant began singing as early as 2 years old. Hailing from the state of New Jersey, she recorded her first
demo at age 8 on a cassette karaoke machine, with her
Elementary School teacher Mrs. Talmage affectionately
known as “Mrs. T”. Daisy reworded the hit song “I Believe
I Can Fly” by R. Kelly to “I Believe I Can Score,” to encourage her fellow students for the State Standardized
Testing that year. Grant recalls her very first solo performance “Lift Every Voice and Sing” a tune popularized
by the late Nina Simone. By the tender age of 10, she
developed a strong passion for songwriting. Her first original works a song entitled “Nobody” was professionally
recorded when she was 14 years old. Fellow Jersey natives Whitney Houston and Faith Evans are two of Grant’s
greatest musical inspirations. In fact, she performed
songs by Faith, joined by her best friend Ciara Betts, as a
Rap/ Singing duo during her formative years.
Grant had her first on screen appearance in the So So
Def music video “Live The Life” in 2001. The song is by
her cousin Fundisha. Daisy is proud to say that she’s also
the cousin of multi-platinum producers the Soul Diggaz.
In 2009, Daisy took part in VH1’s Hip-Hop Honors as a part
of the opening act, alongside host Tracy Morgan. Earlier
that same year she teamed up with multi-platinum songwriter and recording artist Skillz a/k/a Mad Skillz, in Los
Angeles. Grant got her first major song placement as a
co-writer on Skillz’s track “Flash of Genius” and was featured vocalist on the track “Good Money” both tracks
appear on his album “The World Needs More Skillz” released by EONE records in 2010.
As her career continued to grow and develop she
reached major milestones and noteworthy achieve-
ments that helped her evolve into the artist she is today.
Daisy successfully participated as a contributing writer,
artist, and vocalist on the “Songs For A Healthier America” compilation album which is a community initiative
involving Michelle Obama’s “Partnership for A Healthier
America” and “Hip Hop Public Health”.
The album was released September 30, 2013 with a live
release concert at Symphony Space in Manhattan, NY.
Daisy performed leading single “EVERYBODY” alongside
Doug E. Fresh, Dr. OZ and Dr. Williams. The song was cowritten by Daisy Grant, Artie Green, and Ridvan Steele.
The gifted and talented songwriter and performer went
on to Co-Write the song “BEAUTIFUL” from the highly anticipated compilation album.
Her uncanny ability to successfully collaborate with major artists from all genres of music has been a highlight
throughout her career. Presented with opportunities to
work with multi-platinum artists, producers, and songwriters she is now on the brink of becoming one herself. Her
most recent major placements include Pendulum Records Recording Artist “Shaliek” where she appears on
his Debut Album featuring a song entitled “Feel It” which
she co-wrote. The album is scheduled for release Spring
