God’s Work Our Hands with the Rebekah Circle
In May, the Rebekah Circle concluded 9 months of
gathering together for Bible study and fellowship.
We meet, the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30
PM, either in homes or at the church. We begin
with prayer and have a Bible study from the Gather
magazine. The first topic this season was ‘Slow
Faith’. In our present day of instant-everything,
God’s rhythms get drowned out. [Gather 9-2015]
We explored how to keep the Sabbath. Exploring
Christian Citizenship were lessons for four months.
Intergenerational relationships with women
culminated the studies.
Each month an offering is received (this is sent on
to SE MN Synod). We also have a Penny Fund that
members contribute to each month to fund our
circle projects.
We again hosted monthly coffee hours September
through May at the Evergreens. All residents were
welcome. With our Penny Fund, gifts were
purchased for 3 children for Christmas in Fillmore
County; $50.00 was given to Journey to The City;
and postage was funded for graduate mailings. We
provided 40 cookie plates at Christmastime, which
were given to congregation and community
members. Each year we are given names of shutins and graduates to remember throughout the
year. We are often reminded that we are ‘Blessed
to be a blessing’.
We welcome new members and will resume
meetings in September.
Circle members include: Jeanette Baker, Lucille
Daggett, Mary Jo Dathe, Shirley Gangstad, Sharon
Jahn, Julie Halla, Carol J. Kohn, Marge Lenz, Turby
Marchant, Marlene Rollie, Judy Rose, Lori Schlitter,
and Geraldine Williams

spending a week of their summer at Good Earth
Village for Confirmation Camp, June 12-17. Please
pray for their time together and instruction.
Grace Notes Ministry sends
hand-written notes sharing
Christ’s grace and love to
those celebrating baptismal
anniversaries, those in need of prayer (illness,
death in family, etc.), those celebrating
milestones (baptisms, receiving Sunday School
Bibles, etc.) and thank you’s to those who
volunteer in our congregation life (choirs,
council, ministry teams, etc.) Two to six people
gather at 10:00 AM each Thursday to write
notes and by the end of May we will have sent
more than 650 notes so far in 2016. The
writers give thanks and offer a prayer for each
recipient.
You can support this ministry with your
prayers, with gifts of cards that you have
received in the mail but know you will not use,
by contributing to the Caring Ministries
account to honor or remember a loved one.
Contact Shirley Gangstad for more information.
Thank you so much for your
prayers. Thank you also for the
caring casserole, the fruit cups, and
the awesome chocolate chip
cookies.

Women's Day at Good Earth Village
Saturday June 25th 9:00am-4:00pm
“Workshop wonderfully presented, hands on. A truly
"light-filled" spiritual experience. God Bless!” Women’s Day Participant 2015
Women across generations are invited to encounter
the hope that leads to action at Women’s Day 2016.
The day will begin with Keynote Speaker Pastor
Margaret Kelly with Shobi’s Table providing food,
friendship, faith and employment skills to the
homeless and near homeless people of St. Paul.
Pastor Margaret’s creative and passionate approach
to ministry will have you seeing things differently.
After connecting over a delicious lunch, workshops
ranging from hiking the trails to intergenerational
ministry will be available. We’ll close the day
worshiping together before returning home with a
spark and hope from experiencing glimmers of the
Kingdom of God.
Whether you bring a few friends or a bible study
group or attend as an investment in your personal
faith, we hope you will feel leaving more connected
and with a sense of belonging to the Kingdom of
God.

My Grandpa Ed Kohlmeyer always loved
challenges and enjoyed being a problem
solver. With that being said, Grandpa was
putting bales on the elevator, one right after the
other, almost touching. Dad & Floyd were in
the barn and couldn’t keep up with the bales.
Floyd yelled to Grandpa “Ed we got a problem
up here.” Grandpa came up eager to solve the
problem. Floyd went down and started putting
bales on the elevator, as fast as Grandpa was;
Grandpa yelled to Floyd “They’re coming to
fast.” Floyd said “You figured it out.”

Monthly Financial
Summary 2016
April 30
On behalf of the
Church Council,
we would like to thank you for your support of the
ministries at Our Saviors Lutheran.
Year to date (YTD) as of April 30th general operating
budget offering collected summary is as follows:
YTD 2016-$94,942 YTD 2015-$101,220
6.20%
YTD 2016 versus 2016 budget of $113,366 is $18,424.
In January the annual meeting the congregation
approved an operating budget for 2016 of
$322,000. In 2015 operating expenses were
$287,000, and represents an estimated need in
2016 of $35,000 or about 12% additional operating
dollars. With the decrease in 2016 YTD operating
funds we are currently 19% behind what will be
necessary to execute the 2016 congregation
approved budget.
How can we work together and accomplish meeting
this goal? Our Saviors has 285 giving units or
contributing households, if each household were to
contribute an additional $145 over what you
contributed in 2015, over the coming 8 months, or
$4.00 more per week, we can meet the approved
budget.
A note from the desk of Sue
Skifter, Education Coordinator…
And, that’s a wrap!
Sunday school 2015-2016 complete.
Confirmation worship service
complete. Time sure does fly!
Now we start the planning for a fun
week of VBS! Dates for VBS are
Sunday, July 31, 2016 through
Thursday, August 4, 2016. The
theme is SUBMERGED! Finding
truth below the surface….Psalm
139:23-24. All hands will be needed
on deck to provide a great week for
our kids. Please keep an eye on
future bulletins and watch for an
easel in the Narthex for more details!
Registration forms will be available
soon. You will find these on the
credenza in the main office hall.
God bless us all!

The service group lists are of people in the congregation who are asked to bring items for special
events at the church. The lists have gone through
some changes to try to even out the lists with
people who can be available to respond in service.
For a number of reasons, there are people who are
not included on the lists (shut-in, live out of town,
have indicated a desire not to be contacted, etc.)
Thank you to all the people in Our Savior’s who
live out their faith in caring support of the
ministries of the church.
