Board of Governors
by Dr. Ryan M. Walton, Board President
I would first like to commend Rob Miller and his team for their hard work readying the golf course in time
for the Men’s Member-Guest Tournament. The course looked and played better than it has all year, something
I hope will continue through the remainder of the summer. Event chairman John Sypek ordered three days of
beautiful weather, and Shawn, Meghann and their team ran a seamless operation. Thanks to everyone involved
for a great event once again.
As we look into July, I must mention what has become a family tradition to me – the Glenmoor fireworks.
Even through scorching heat, kids will run, jump, and bounce through the inflatable obstacle course and bounce
house. Chef and his team will prepare a true summer cookout menu, and everyone young to old will be huddled
together for the fireworks display, expected to be top-notch as usual. If you have never attended, please consider
this event for you and your family. If you are a regular, I will see you there!

I’m pleased to announce that we have a new Food and Beverage Director who needs no
introduction. Gail Wigfield has been a key member of the Glenmoor’s F&B leadership team for the
past 13 years. She has been a true role model in that department with her dedicated work ethic and
commitment to Member service. Gail always has a smile for our Members and Guests, even
during the most stressful of times. I was thrilled when she accepted this key senior staff position.
With the other moves detailed in her column elsewhere in this newsletter, I am confident that Gail
and her team will take Member service to the next level.
Gail’s move is indicative of the Club’s ongoing practice of developing and growing our people.
There are countless examples of people hired in at entry level positions who have worked their way
up through the ranks into key leadership roles. Due to the longevity of our staff, sometimes these people move on to
positions in other areas of our industry but we’re equally proud of their achievements. Some have taken the basic business
and life skills learned during their time at Glenmoor and, with continued growth, have turned them into great success
in business and the medical and legal professions. Not only do we have former busboys that are now club managers and
former dishwashers who are now executive chefs in the field, we have a surprising amount of CPA’s, attorneys and medical
professionals who cut their teeth as Glenmoor employees. We are extremely proud of “our kids” and through the efforts
of the CAMP program, we look forward to many more success stories.

I am super excited about the month of July here at the Club! First off we have the beloved 4th of July
bash which is always a great time for the entire family, and to get it all started we have the 4th of July
parade. It’s never too late to sign up for the parade, so please call or email me and let me know you
want to participate, we’d love to have you! The other event I am really looking forward to is “Under the
Tuscan Sun”, it’s such a great movie, right? I figured wouldn’t it make for a great evening at the Club?
It’s a movie that evokes passion, great food, friendship and the hope we all have inside that life can still
be waiting there for us, if we are brave enough to reach out and grab our next great adventure…so come
out and be adventurous won’t you?

Some of you may remember the old Eddie Money song “Give Me Some Water”. Well, I’m sure
California is singing that song right now with the extreme drought conditions that much of that state is
dealing with. Here in Ohio though, we seem to get our fair share of water which might lead us to forget
that water is the world’s most precious resource. As a reminder, if you own a home with a sprinkler
system, please remember to turn it off after a rain or during periods of high humidity like we can see in
July and August. On the golf course we use an ET, evapotransporation, gauge which tell us the amount
of water that the plant has lost during the day. We then water accordingly and try to replace only what
the plant has lost. Even though most homeowners don’t have an ET gauge to let them know how much
water has evaporated from the plant, a visual inspection of your yard will usually tell you when it’s time
to water. So, please remember to turn off your irrigation when it’s not needed and help conserve the
world’s most precious resource.

What’s Cooking?
By Tom Schrenk, Executive Chef
Hello everyone, happy July! This month marks my 2 year anniversary of being a part of the
Glenmoor team. Looking back over this time I am proud to say that, as a kitchen, we have come a long
way and improved in many areas. Personally, I have learned a lot and truly enjoy seeing my team
working well together, the kitchen is operating smoothly and people are enjoying our food. We have had
so many great events and none of them could have been possible without the tremendous support and
participation from you, our Members. We’re starting this month off with a BANG and plan to keep
cooking the whole month long!
Dining News
By Gail Wigfield, Food & Beverage Director
Here it is 4th of July already and summer is in full swing!
Enjoy your new, spacious Patio. I am sure that it will be more functional especially since our
TGIF’s continue to grow each Friday.
You will notice that we have a lot of new staff throughout the Club - especially at the Pool,
Patio and in Scot’s. They are looking forward to getting to know each of you. With Randy leaving
Glenmoor, a lot of things are changing in the Food and Beverage department. Myron and I have
promoted a new face to the department, but one you all will recognize. David Mani has accepted
the job of Assistant Food and Beverage Director; a move that I am very excited about. He has been
with the club for almost 10 years and will be a great addition to the Team. Along with that change
we have also Promoted Kelli Davis to our Training Supervisor, Jessica Parsons to a Supervisor in
Scot’s Grille and the Pool area, and brought Keith Richey back to Maitre’d in the Black Heath. In
addition to these changes we have also promoted James McCaulley to Set-up Manager. We are all
very excited about the New Team!
I look forward to see you at the Club soon!
